- Sizzle Season brought us the new arrival of CHALLENGE MODE! And as nice as it sounded at first it turns out it's kinda weird...? 2 hours of a challenge mode with only 3 windows of opportunity to try it out? Too many trizookas doesn't ONLY use trizookas? Well who really knows what challenge modes we'll be able to witness in the future. BUT, I do know I have a couple of ideas for some challenge modes, smiley face.

i want a gamemode where you start in a puddle and have to ink as much turf as you can exclusively in swim form
20 minute timer to see who wins

challenge idea of mine. I doubt Nintendo will add it but I think it could be cool
Unshackled ink tank:
Your ink tank will naturally fill up at a pretty fast rate even when not swimming or firing. Whiting frames (delay between recovering ink) are also shortened drastically
I feel like this could be an interesting challenge mode that leads to faster paced gameplay with weapons that normally are too ink hungry to be played at a fast rate. Example with dynamo, it’s extremely ink hungry and has a fair bit of whiting frames I believe. Now picture how often dynamo could remain in action without having to wait very long to refill ink. That’s the point of this challenge

This will make dynamo worse as it is slow and would be hard to dodge bombs

Unironically, this would just make Splatoon into most fps shooters cuz most games usually have a specific spot for ammo and/or health packs. So honestly this idea isn't top hard to think about.

Everyone would just roll with big swig, with full main saver, highest ink efficiency in the game.

I would love a too many trizookas type thing but with other speacials like reef slider or ultra stamp.
I would also love and ultra stamp mode but you only use the ultra stamp
I would love to see if they do that with Zip caster
Or tenta missiles, contrary to all the hate directed at the special I think it would actually be quite interesting. Can't use tenta missiles if you're already under fire.

I personally want a mode where the sub and special are random and change each match. Similar to how in salmon run you get a new weapon each rotation.

I like that idea! Maybe either there'd be ink refills or killing the enemy would restore some of your ink gauge? Turning you into a bit of a vampire squid lol
I'd like to see a bomb only mode or another "Too Many" specials mode with Zipcaster or something.
Fun fact! The limited ink gimmick was originally in the Splatoon 1 story mode, but only in the remixed levels unlovked by amiibo

this is the type of stuff they should actually do in challenges instead of "no ability subs" or "random weapons"
giving an actual reason to wake up at 5 am to play splatoon, theyre meant to be goofy and unbalanced modes but so far its been so booorrinngggg

Ink with caution could work. Maybe there could be a spot where refill tanks spawn and players have to fight for it, then if one player gets their own ink tank could be refilled while their teammates only get a very small amount
I feel like this idea could cross into a whole new mode by itself; It sounds very fun. Too bad it’ll never happen
Periodically respawning ink refills in various spots of the map could make that challenge work.
Nintendo would never be this creative
Imagine if the ink tank was 2-3x as big as normal, and the main way to refill was to pick up ink tanks dropped by enemies when you splat them. Just borrow from what most other shooters do, lol
This, but also kills can refill ink.
Rain Wars: Turf War but your main weapon is replaced with The Rainmaker, and you can still use your subs and specials, and super jump.

I really want a Custom Kit Challenge. Create a custom kit with any sub and special for any weapon at Sheldon's; can only be used in Challenge mode. All existing weapon and kit combinations cannot be replicated. Though, I think this idea is too cool and wild for Nintendo to actually implement 😂😢

Random Challange mode idea:
Grizzco-Approved Turf War
Everyone has lifesaver ink tanks rather then the usual, and when you spawn at the beginning, you start with the lifesaver, however when you die you respawn as the lifesaver, and teammates can revive you, however to makes you loose the lifesaver for balancing reasons, making you respawn back at *actual* spawn
To make things interesting, You have limited time as a lifesaver before you die, like 10 seconds before you explode and make a small puddle of your ink, and Enemies can shoot at you to finish you off. Making a small ink puddle of their ink (however while respawning as a lifesaver you will get a few I-frames). To combat this though you are a bit faster in lifesaver form
Turning on A.I:The machine bots in the battle tower is all over the map you have to ink it so it turns on its like a turret.
I want a challenge mode where everyone's sub is their Little Buddy. Idk, I wish they were used more than just in story mode x)
I want random grizzco weapons in various game modes. Tower control would be chaotic.

maybe make it so that there’s multiple rotating spots for it to spawn and they switch after set intervals and/or a certain amount of refills
there should be a challenge where both teams are assigned the same ink color but still function as if they were separate colors so the entire time you’re walking in enemy ink thinking its yours and trying to shoot at your own teammates thinking they’re enemies and everything is confusing and nobody knows whats going on

or have it be a normal turf match but in the last minute they make it unicolor/take away the ability to tell who’s winning for the final push, kinda like in tricolor
Turf war but your entire team shares a supply of ink and the only way to refill is to go back to your base and resupply the ink there
After awhile it’s just a squid party
I think the first one would be a good idea and I think they would do it because they already have a story mode level on it and it would be fun

This is actually a good idea. I think you have limited Ink but instead of just being OUT when it depletes, you explode just like the actual mode story mode. Then you respawn with replenished ink again until the 3 minutes. Maybe you can be rewarded by splatting someone by picking up any ink they didn’t use while they were alive (or foes can drop full ink refills). I think it can work : )
Imagine if we have a Charger-only challenge and the mode is Rainmaker or Clams, so everyone is still forced to move.
Turf war but with Grizz Co weapons would be wild
Rainmaker but instead of taking it to the goal you keep it for as long as you can with your team with the normal 5:00 timer. The team without the rainmaker gets 2 mains of quick respawn so they can get to the enemy quickly. The rainmaker wont inksplode because of a timer and the only time where you have to pop the shield is at the beginning, the person who dies with the Rainmaker inksplodes so that the full team can't camp the Rainmaker easily. Person with rainmaker can't use their sub and special or superjump like normal, and the reduced speed as well like normal too.
and the shield never respawns, the rainmaker just drops.

2-weapon tower control where you can bring 2 weapons instead of one
I want to many tenta missiles where the 10 second cool down is off and just like too many trizookas the special gauge fills up quickly and its on Splat zones

I thought of a Challenge where it’s just a 1v4, but the single player has infinite special and the mode is Splat Zones, that could be fun

I had an idea for one but its the most stupidity one i have ever thought of, Turf war but with only one minute, Ink with Panic, Fast Paced Turf War, idrk but its just turf war but with only one minute and people who use last ditch effort would probably like this
They could make so that splatting an opponent causes them to drop an ink refill.
I don't wanna be obnoxious but, the first time the limited ink challenges showed up was in the amiibo challenges in Splatoon 1 for the WiiU

Hide and seek seekers have limited ink the entire stage is covered by hiders color and they do not have a weapon seekers do get get refills every 1:00 passes match will be 3-4 minutes last 30 seconds will put a locator on the seekers until match is over

What if there was a challenge that gave all the weapons their old traits from the very first version of Splatoon 1? Right down to the total kill rollers and blasters.

Idea: You get Infinite ink, but you can't go into swim form as a tradeoff

To further it what if to reset your limit there are refills but there are few in secure areas (non choke points) and a good few at these choke points and they spawn in every now and than.
Turf war but you can splat your teammate if your not careful
i doubt the switch could handle it given current connection issues but it would be cool to have a mode where maybe it’s regular turf/objective except enemies also spawn and bonus points are awarded for killing them idk
People keep forgetting about splatoon 1 amiibo stages
a challange i like to see is extreme rush where everything (exept time) is 3 times faster wich includes specials movement speed swim speed and refilling your tank
a mode were you play the grizzco weapons in a mode that isn't salmon run (shaldon will never aprove of it)

What about something like an infinite specials match? Or something like, every special only costs 20p of ink and everyone is given gear that is only special upgrade. It sounds like hell but chaos is the theme of this game after all.
The amount of points of turf inked does not equate to the amount of ink used.
Why is it that fans come up with better designs and ideas?

It's bad enough that these challenges are scheduled at such odd times throughout the week. Most of the time I'm at work and when I can make it to a challenge on the weekends, I'm utterly DESTROYED by teams that most likely play the game non stop. I wish this game was pay2win cause at least I can afford it since I work so dang much
maybe tweak this so instead you get some kind of debuff every time you get low ink so it encourages you to refill your ink often and not ever run out

You could just have it where you die if you run out and respawn with a full tank

With only 8-4 people and still gives connection error, what make you think a battle royale is possible?
