A spiral can be on a straight edge
zoe gray not really. The name spiral comes from the shape you leave in the ice. You can hold an arabesque position in a flat edge, but then you don't call it a spiral (or shouldn't call it a spiral, even if people do it anyway)

@@thatpianistmoth in one of the moves in the field you have to do it on a flat edge because you are required to go straight down the ice

According to your videos, I'm a beginner 2 and I can do spirals, three turns and teapots (shoot the duck) hehehe teapots is what my coach calls them :)

Hi, I'm an intermidiate skater and I was wondering if it would be alright to wear proper skating attire (skating dress, tights, professional wear). Or will I look weird?

thelattebabe be yourself, but if your looking for options spandex leggings work well. Look on ebay.
+thelattebabe it doesn't matter what you wear, just wear whatever is comfortable for you. Although some skaters tend to wear tight fitted zipper up sweaters and leggings specifically made for skaters but you don't have to.
people usually don't wear dresses, even practice dresses but i did for a while. You just stand out that's all. Plus its easier to layer if you wear figure skating pants.
Also this isn't really intermediate level in figure skating.

That's a toe loop, not an axel.
Its actually an arabesque not a spiral
it's considered a spiral in figure skating but an arabesque in dance
