There's one of these rusting away at an abandoned cement factory by me. It probably has some parts missing but I'd love to see it run. It belonged to a demo company, it was probably a work horse
Kenny Dean it's a blast to run hearing it lug down, although I see a couple people didn't like it lol. I'll get some more videos up in a couple weeks. Have to fix a couple minor leaks put the hood and sweeps back on, possibly put a new muffler or just a new stack. Thanks for watching!
I used to operate a 941 and a D69U and both of them you could hear the turbo, I was able to operate a 977 briefly, and I still maintain the the older machines can out perform the newer crap with the DEF and computers
Kenny Dean I had a 941 but sold it to pay my truck off to buy a house was a dang good tractor but it's not very good at clearing just not enough hp. But I also have a d7e it's turbo is a lot louder than the one on this 3306. Hope to have some clips on it here soon, waiting for the weather to break and go get a blade for it.
@@HaydenIngram My local dealer doesn't even bring in any new track loaders, i've only seen two units at the CAT dealer in 10 years. And two Deere 755k's. I had to travel 7 hours to buy my machine.
I'd like to have one, but the cost of upkeep for a tracked undercarriage and poor maintenance access into the engine bay (if the machine doesn't have a safety lock on the boom) have kept me away so far.
@@Porty1119 the 953/963/973 as well as the Deere 655 and 755 all have rear engine orientation. Which makes the servicing a lot easier. Especially with the models with the cab that jacks up. B, D, K model cats and C, K model Deere’s
stay after those lube levels and she'll last a good long while..what lube are you running in the bevel gear box? TDTO or 15w40? -I need some room to stretch mine out..mine's a barn cat

Lester Aizlewood just getting started in operating, so I am trying to learn some things.I'll have to go back and separate the pile once it dries. Have gotten an avg of 2-3inches a week sometimes more in ga this year so far everything is pretty much mud.
It’s usually not hard to get one going if it was truly running when parked. First things first make sure it’s not locked up. If it’s free start checking all fluid levels. Without knowing what machine it is. I’d checked the intake/air filters for rats and exhaust as well. Check the throttle make sure it moves freely. Then make sure you have good connections at the batteries, hit the glow plugs for a few seconds and see if it spins over. If the engine is locked pull the injectors and soak the cylinder(s) with your favorite oil.Ex- marvel mystery oil or I like atf something like that. I hope this helps. I have a video of my d7 sat for 10+ years and was locked up. I had it running in about 3-4 hours. Mostly all that was getting engine broke free.
I’m heading our tomorrow to look at buying one I’m a decent diesel mechanic mostly do gassers but anything specific I need to look at also will two truck diesel batteries start it? They only want $2,500
It should start it if the starter and cables are any good. Look for leaks check out the condition of the radiator core. But $2500 i would buy it sight unseen scrap would bring more than that. So if it turned out to be a money pit either part it or scrap it.

I spent 15 years on 955k 977k and 977L in the seventies and eighties, loved it.
im looking for a d8 or d9 next. have found several sitting in my area. wish i was around back then....
I spent years running a 977 on derailments. Loved it.

We got one of those straight piped. Sounds wicked cool. Love those machines
this muffler is rotted out, ive got some pipe to straight pipe it ill make some video of it.
I own the new generation of that loader, a 973C and i can say, that track loaders are highly underestimated in the work they can do.
They really are and everyone says they are being phased out but I don’t believe it for a second we can’t keep them in stock at my Cat dealer.

I believe so. When I had the rod packs out I spun the rods in v blocks to check for straightness and they were straight, so I hope so haha.

Why push up all the dirt with the timber? That was always a bad practice when I was in earthmoving.
