Nice camper. Maybe adding a window opposite the driver-side window by the sofa/bed would provide much-needed airflow! And possibly an extendable counter on the cabinet beside the stovetop. Wouldn’t interfere with the Murphy bed but provide more counter space. Lastly, the bathroom sink looks very awkward with the spigot on the right side. Otherwise great trailer and presentation. Thanks!!
Can't say as I disagree with the window idea. It wouldn't be able to be as large as the driver's side window since the wall space is a bit smaller, but even a small window would be welcome there. Good call!
Really nice, however there is always the little things. Dinette has the knee banging non pet friendly posts, no permanent leash tie outside, Double sink should have a split cover so you can have that little extra counter space. My wife and I are trying to decide between this one and the 171RBXL. I had been leaning towards the 171RBXL but now I’m back to 50/50. I like the improvements they made for this year.
Just to add a bit of context. I love the flush mounted countertops but the folding countertop option on the right side would be a great addition. The under sink storage could be designed so the left side is full and the the right side has the shelf, this would allow for a hide away waste basket. Built in CPAP storage on the hanging storage of the bed would be great as well, I’m not a CPAP user so I don’t know if a CPAP device will even fit in those storage cabinets, but I love the cutouts on the 171RBXL. Cabinet door access to the pass through storage and dinette storage would be awesome. Some of these additions are going to change the load requirements and I understand that this is why they are options on the 171RBXL due to the tandem axle vs. the single axle on this model, but about a 1/3 of the weight increase from this model to the 171RBXL has to be the second axle itself, right??
While we’re discussing weight I’m interested in your thoughts on this models GVWR, specifically while it’s parked. Most people think of GVWR in terms of towing/traveling weight but it’s my understanding that you also don’t want to be overloaded while it’s parked. So if GVWR is UVW+CCC, that puts the 167RBK at +/- 3966 lbs.. I’m not so much concerned with cargo while traveling as I am people + cargo while parked, at 280 lbs. myself I would represent 37% of the available capacity. Am I over thinking this?
@@obiwan6126 You should never be overloaded ever. While the reasons why for towing are pretty obvious even when parked you could be tweaking your axle. If you go too far you could permanently bend the axle which creates a lot of issues
Josh, Instead of the dinette table, I would do theater seats or a nice couch and have free standing table then you can leave the murphy bed in down position and when it is nice outside the free standing table can help complete the camp kitchen! What do you think?
You have to keep in mind there's a wheel well under that dinette. A true theater seat physically not sit there as a result. I have been asking RV Builders to offer a common folding sofa in that area with frequency. A simple floating table is all it would take
Josh, I don't know if you will see this but if the bed was an RV Queen, i.e. a shorter bed, so cabinets could be placed overhead between the wardrobes would make this about the most perfect camper I've seen. It would be nice if builders provided options like that within a model as opposed to having to go to a different model where there might be other issues.
It costs most. Sliding door hardware is more expensive vs. swinging doors. So you don't tend to see much of it in this segment. Funny as it sounds that's a REALLY standout feature on this RV
Josh, given the inclusion of the 12 volt DC compressor 'fridge, has Wildwood/Salem considered borrowing the Cherokee Juice Pack from another Forest River sibling? Perhaps a feedback item...
Wow...I really like this one Josh. The lighter colors are a breath of fresh air and the floor plan is great. I'd probably use that bathroom closet partially as a pantry. Really like that stove too! Question: it looks like there might be extra storage under the nightstands?
Agree 100% on those new colors. last year they were a safe brown/brown tone that didn't look bad... but just looked "blah." Forgettable. The first time I stepped into an updated 2021 I was like "WHOA... this is next level!" And then I saw the kitchen updates. This is about the best "in class" I think there is out there. Under the night stands is the outside pass-thru compartment, so yes there is storage there :)
This FSX series kinda came out of nowhere and quickly became one of the hottest little secrets in little campers. I *truly* had a hard time finding anything to "knock" it for. It's about as perfect in executing its goals as a little trailer like this could be.
Me too. Everything I wanted, but couldn't get with the 16FQ, this one has. It took us most of a season to decide what to buy and right after they release what we actually wanted. Highly disappointing.
@@JoshtheRVNerdIt is difficult to pick my favourite points. it ticked all my boxes, I liked everything. My only concern is the perceived lack of room when using the toilet. But as you have said "get in, do what you gotta do, get out"

The Wolf Pup, Wildwood FSX, Jay Flight SLX 7, and Catalina Summit 7 are all head-to-head (to head.. to head) competitors. Similar models between them tend to be almost exactly the same in cost The Jay Flight SLX series has remained a little more conservative on some features which has allowed them to maintain a little lower price point vs the others But generally speaking you're within 200 buck of any one of them
Nothing in the way of roof prep currently (though I think they're working on something along those lines) Standard side prep plug for a portable panel. Those 12v fridges have surprisingly low amp draws. Furrion found some pretty encouraging data thru testing theirs shared here: ruclips.net/video/HNCnwXOh1ng/видео.html
Nice little couples camper! But as always I question the mattress quality on the murphy beds. Is there room to upgrade the mattress thickness? Is it at least a 60"x74" in size? Thanks Joush
I really like you. I like how you explain things. Could you give me a brief description on how the 110 refrigerator works. Does it start cooling when you hook up the trailer to your truck for towing? Does it run on the power cord that attached from the trailer hitch to the back of our truck? The dealer said no? I think he is wrong.
A 110 fridge needs either shore power or an inverter. That's not what's in this camper. This is a 12v fridge. Works directly off the battery via a compressor unit. So it works as soon as the RV is powered up. A vehicle's charge line is more than enough to keep it running on the road.
Channels have content pre-scheduled all the time. Only difference is I'm letting my viewers know what's coming & letting them set a reminder so they don't miss something in which they may be interested!
The 2020 Wildwood FSX catalog shows a 169RS floor plan with rear bartop and sofa slide. Will it be available in 2021? If not could you recommend an alternate travel trailer of similar size and floorplan?
Man.. I wish. I tried to order those, but that model was phased out before it ever really had its day in the sun. Sadly, no. It is not available any longer. That floor plan was a bit of a Unicornisaurus-Rex. I've never really seen anything quite like it which is why I enjoyed the idea of it so much.
FSX has adopted the same larger 12v fridge as the larger Wildwoods which can operate w/o issue in transit. That's actually one of the benefits of them When they ship from the factory yards to our dealership only about an hour away they arrive already ice cold. They cool *extremely* well
Murphy bed is finished off better at the top that looks better doesn’t like sheets showing at top doesn’t lol finished off . 6 not 5 I couldn’t go back & change it for tablet & couch. Is this one about 24 or less in trailer ?
In this class/price point you'll not find RVs with enhanced insulation packages As I am but a simple midwestern boy I do not have a good estimation of how something like this may perform in your area and would encourage you to ask around locally
Do you know if the Platinum edition of this FSX 167RBK uses azdel as the backer of the smooth fiberglass? Love this trailer. But really hope is uses azdel.
Nothing in this class is "Four Seasons." This is a simple series market segment/price point. The Jay Feather Micro is probably about as close as it gets with an enclosed belly + tank heaters (optional), but even then it's not PROVEN cold camp capable.
I'd need you to reach out to a sales team member and have our service team take a look underneath to verify. MANY of these single axle campers already come with flipped axles so that's often not possible
Mfgs give us no specs on that and we do not have a list by model. We have to rely on our team to get some measurements like that for clients as needed They’re always happy to get the extra info you need in return for the fair opportunity to earn your business when you’re ready
I was told by Mike that this unit is better than the WP 16FQ; because the latter has problems with the murphy bed tearing. That may be true to an extent (depending on usage and how some will take better care of their unit). But, after looking at the interior design it looks similar and cheaper. The murphy bed is not supported totally and the sofa looks like something one would put in their kids room. It's possible Mike was being "salesy" instead of being truthful. I base that on the fact this unit is available today and the latter may not come until Jan/Feb of next year. BTW: My dad was a carpenter for many years and this standard of cabinetry is subpar IMO.
The cabinet construction here vs. the Wolf Pup is the same, though I will admit the Wolf Pup's fit and finish is usually a little "Tighter" in general comparison I'll follow up with Mike for more clarity and potential internal coaching. This one doesn't really have "sofa" so much as a nicely padded bench. While that Wolf Pup has an actual jack knife sofa setup Sounds like the pop suits you best. No sense in rocking that boat! When you're ready we can get your name put on a fresh one coming in now! :)
Yes, the 171RBXL is still available. We have about a half dozen coming in. That's a top seller among our Xlite Wildwood series! Our team at 800-256-5196 can reach out to the factory to get estimated arrival dates & costs for you
I consider them on a level playing field with trades between them. The info below assumes we're looking at a standard series pup and not a black label. The FSX Has... * 6" Wider Body for more space (but more weight) * NOW Features an Enclosed belly (didn't even when this was filmed) * Little Easier Murphy System * More Storage (as a result of the body size) * At least one kitchen drawer * Skylight/Vent Fan over the shower for headroom (vs. just IN the room) * Ceiling Vent w/Fan in Living/Kitchen (Easy to upgrade) The Pup Has... * Lighter Weight * Factory Solar/Battery Tender * Factory Rear Camera * Quick Jack * LCI's OneControl integrated into the control panel * Ceiling Subwoofer * Full Window in the Entry Door Obviously cosmetically they're almost completely opposite of one another but I don't consider either a "Superior feature" -- rather that's more a personal preference.
@@JoshtheRVNerd Thank you so much for the reply. Lots to consider as I like both very much! Looking for something in this model/size. Lots of brands to choose from all with advantages/disadvantages...lol. Love the videos and channel! Thank you! Very informative!
No. Not on this series. Almost no single axle campers have that feature as it requires a taller/heavier/more expensive chassis to enclose the tanks (which goes against what most little camper-seekers are looking for) The Jay Feather Micro is one of the only things I've seen in a single axle with an enclosed belly
I don't have 2021 footage of it yet, but basically... this camper all laminated and jazzed up would be this one: ruclips.net/video/HyQsmNgiE9Q/видео.html
No. FSX offers no bed-swaps. I'm not sure a twin bed setup could fit on the door-side of the RV without interfering with the entry door -- would need to measure.
TY! For what this little camper is and the goals it's trying to accomplish I truly think it's about as close to "perfect" as a little thing like this could be
I’m in love. This little thing is calling to me. Is it bad that I want to pack up my girl-dog, leave the hubby and 3 teenage boys and boy-dog to fend for themselves, and take this out on a girls only weekend escape??????

Josh, I don't know if you will see this but if the bed was an RV Queen, i.e. a shorter bed, so cabinets could be placed overhead between the wardrobes would make this about the most perfect camper I've seen. It would be nice if builders provided options like that within a model as opposed to having to go to a different model where there might be other issues.
This one is a camp queen - 60" x 74"
Would be perfect with the dining slide out
Take a look at this one
m.ruclips.net/video/dg935c8cN64/видео.html
Yes it’s definitely a great camper.
What a great design- I wonder why more manufacturers don’t do the sliding door on the rear bath. Max use of min space!
It costs most.
Sliding door hardware is more expensive vs. swinging doors.
So you don't tend to see much of it in this segment. Funny as it sounds that's a REALLY standout feature on this RV
5:25 you could find fault in the potential dual knee knocker dinning room table posts/stands‼️ 😉 #YouAreWelcome 🤝
That really is just about it, but fitting for its segment/price bracket
I love this trailer. i am not crazy about the dinette but the rest is great. its beautiful
What changes would you like to see on the dinette-area?
Thank you. I love this camper.
My pleasure! Updated footage of it here
m.ruclips.net/video/hiGcjCGbKfs/видео.html
Josh, given the inclusion of the 12 volt DC compressor 'fridge, has Wildwood/Salem considered borrowing the Cherokee Juice Pack from another Forest River sibling? Perhaps a feedback item...
I can say with confidence a *lot* of companies are working on similar things. They all try to find ways to "one up" one another.
Like this model
Here's some updated footage on this one also shown in their Platinum skin series: bit.ly/3HaDvkr
Had I known these existed, I may have purchased one instead of my Wolf Pup 16FQ.
@@theeaselrider4032 So you have a 16FQ Now as well? What would want to see changed on it this Wildwood offers?
I really like this RV.
Can't blame you. It's about as close to "perfect execution" as a little camper in this class can get. What are your favorite points?
@@JoshtheRVNerdIt is difficult to pick my favourite points. it ticked all my boxes, I liked everything. My only concern is the perceived lack of room when using the toilet. But as you have said "get in, do what you gotta do, get out"
Keep the outdoor fridge and add a slide out griddle
Trying to think where that griddle could hide to slide open/closed.
Would you be willing to sacrifice some under-dinette storage & have that griddle in the middle of your awning space? I'm just not sure where else you could put it
Do you guys at haylett sell used campers? When the time comes for me to get one Im probably going to need something more affordable... Here lately I've had my eye on one of these but an older model because of price but also the ability to upgrade little by little later... Love your videos brother, reguardless of my funds I find it intresting and pretty cool....
of course! Quite a few actually. Though “Haylett RV” is now “Bish’s RV”
My brother took over our consignment wing while I stayed on with the Bish’s RV and continue to make videos and run this channel
@@JoshtheRVNerd Ok awesome, I look foward to more content... Tks again..
I do like this. This is something my wife and I will be looking at (in a year or two). I don't want to go over 4k in GVW of the trailer. This I think would fit the bill
It definitely seems to fit the bill! What are you towing with? (or planning to tow with?)
@@JoshtheRVNerd 2020 4 runner. I do not want to get over 4k loaded. It is just the wife and me. But we live in Utah amongst the towering peaks of the Rockies.
@@stout_tossme7541 You'll definitely want to stay as light as possible. You're dealing with big inclines and thin air that will rob your vehicle of horsepower. You won't regret staying conservative on trailer sizing
This one here is the max of anything I will be getting. Thanks a ton for the info. When we buy, we will be looking at your lot...the distance doesn't bother us. @@JoshtheRVNerd
Interested in knowing the price difference between this and the 16FQ. I love the color scheme in this so light and airy
The Wolf Pup, Wildwood FSX, Jay Flight SLX 7, and Catalina Summit 7 are all head-to-head (to head.. to head) competitors. Similar models between them tend to be almost exactly the same in cost
The Jay Flight SLX series has remained a little more conservative on some features which has allowed them to maintain a little lower price point vs the others
But generally speaking you're within 200 buck of any one of them
@@JoshtheRVNerd awesome thank you
Nice 12 volt fridge, but is the trailer prepped for solar to help keep the battery charged?
Nothing in the way of roof prep currently (though I think they're working on something along those lines)
Standard side prep plug for a portable panel.
A bit, yes. Mattress toppers tend to work fine
And it is 60 x 74
I really like you. I like how you explain things. Could you give me a brief description on how the 110 refrigerator works. Does it start cooling when you hook up the trailer to your truck for towing? Does it run on the power cord that attached from the trailer hitch to the back of our truck? The dealer said no? I think he is wrong.
A 110 fridge needs either shore power or an inverter. That's not what's in this camper.
This is a 12v fridge. Works directly off the battery via a compressor unit. So it works as soon as the RV is powered up. A vehicle's charge line is more than enough to keep it running on the road.
@@JoshtheRVNerd Thank you for your valuable time. Keep up your videos. You are great.
Premiers in 2 days?? November 16 at 2pm.
I've never really seen anything quite like it which is why I enjoyed the idea of it so much.
the window in the rear makes things appear bigger and more open.
anything like this but a bit bigger?
Does the fridge run off propane? Wondering if it can stay cold driving down the road.
FSX has adopted the same larger 12v fridge as the larger Wildwoods which can operate w/o issue in transit. That's actually one of the benefits of them
When they ship from the factory yards to our dealership only about an hour away they arrive already ice cold. They cool *extremely* well
Would like table that 5 people ! How longer would it sleep ! No bunk beds wanted.Like the
Bed in this direction to get in. Love Murphy beds !
Murphy bed is finished off better at the top that looks better doesn’t like sheets showing at top doesn’t lol finished off . 6 not 5 I couldn’t go back & change it for tablet & couch. Is this one about 24 or less in trailer ?
Would be nice wit latter to check the top.
I would rather have a dinofa with a short slide. The outside fridge is a nice touch.
Sort of like this one's layout? ruclips.net/video/OPLwS2z6T1A/видео.html
Is it extreme heat, like Phoenix Arizona rated?hows the insulation?
In this class/price point you'll not find RVs with enhanced insulation packages
As I am but a simple midwestern boy I do not have a good estimation of how something like this may perform in your area and would encourage you to ask around locally
Do you know if the Platinum edition of this FSX 167RBK uses azdel as the backer of the smooth fiberglass? Love this trailer. But really hope is uses azdel.
I can confirm it does not. It would not have a significant benefit in an RV that is not using a lot of lamination -- just a bit of weight savings
@@JoshtheRVNerd Bummer. I’m a big fan of azdel and was hoping this pretty much perfect trailer had it. Thank you for the info!
Is this a 4-season trailer? Does have off road package? Higher lift?
Nothing in this class is "Four Seasons." This is a simple series market segment/price point.
The Jay Feather Micro is probably about as close as it gets with an enclosed belly + tank heaters (optional), but even then it's not PROVEN cold camp capable.
Does this unit only come with ther lighter color or is there an option of the darker cabinetry?
Wildwood only offers the decor shown at this time
@@JoshtheRVNerd thank you very much got the reply. Happy 4th!!!
How long u the 50% sale???
Can they do an axle flip on these and give them more ground clearance?
I'd need you to reach out to a sales team member and have our service team take a look underneath to verify.
MANY of these single axle campers already come with flipped axles so that's often not possible
What size tv will fit on the wall?
Mfgs give us no specs on that and we do not have a list by model. We have to rely on our team to get some measurements like that for clients as needed
They’re always happy to get the extra info you need in return for the fair opportunity to earn your business when you’re ready
The cabinet construction here vs. the Wolf Pup is the same, though I will admit the Wolf Pup's fit and finish is usually a little "Tighter" in general comparison
I'll follow up with Mike for more clarity and potential internal coaching.
This one doesn't really have "sofa" so much as a nicely padded bench. While that Wolf Pup has an actual jack knife sofa setup
Sounds like the pop suits you best. No sense in rocking that boat! When you're ready we can get your name put on a fresh one coming in now! :)
Are the 171rbxl units still available and will you be getting one if so ?
Yes, the 171RBXL is still available. We have about a half dozen coming in. That's a top seller among our Xlite Wildwood series! Our team at 800-256-5196 can reach out to the factory to get estimated arrival dates & costs for you
arghh! Damn you Josh, this thing is nearly perfect for the Boss and I. Ugh, gotta stop watching your videos. Awesome review sir.
NEVER stop watching! :)
Advantages or Disadvantages from this to a Wolf Pup?
I consider them on a level playing field with trades between them. The info below assumes we're looking at a standard series pup and not a black label.
The FSX Has...
* 6" Wider Body for more space (but more weight)
* NOW Features an Enclosed belly (didn't even when this was filmed)
* Little Easier Murphy System
* More Storage (as a result of the body size)
* At least one kitchen drawer
* Skylight/Vent Fan over the shower for headroom (vs. just IN the room)
* Ceiling Vent w/Fan in Living/Kitchen (Easy to upgrade)
The Pup Has...
* Lighter Weight
* Factory Solar/Battery Tender
* Factory Rear Camera
* Quick Jack
* LCI's OneControl integrated into the control panel
* Ceiling Subwoofer
* Full Window in the Entry Door
Obviously cosmetically they're almost completely opposite of one another but I don't consider either a "Superior feature" -- rather that's more a personal preference.
@@JoshtheRVNerd Thank you so much for the reply. Lots to consider as I like both very much! Looking for something in this model/size. Lots of brands to choose from all with advantages/disadvantages...lol. Love the videos and channel! Thank you! Very informative!
Hows the underbelly? Enclosed?
No. Not on this series. Almost no single axle campers have that feature as it requires a taller/heavier/more expensive chassis to enclose the tanks (which goes against what most little camper-seekers are looking for)
The Jay Feather Micro is one of the only things I've seen in a single axle with an enclosed belly
16:21 I’d love to see a jazzed up Azdel version of this for greater “curb appeal”❕ 👀🤩
I don't have 2021 footage of it yet, but basically... this camper all laminated and jazzed up would be this one: ruclips.net/video/HyQsmNgiE9Q/видео.html
@@JoshtheRVNerd // yep, saw that one already (I know because I ‘Liked’ it 👍🏽) + I saved it into my RV list of YT videos...
Do not like that you can see linens that murphy is not a complete closure
That is a complaint I have as well. One of the manufacturers addresses it better.
Can they put twin beds in this one?
No. FSX offers no bed-swaps. I'm not sure a twin bed setup could fit on the door-side of the RV without interfering with the entry door -- would need to measure.
*Looks like a COOL lightweight trailer* !! #HaylettRVRevewsNewsAndMore
TY! For what this little camper is and the goals it's trying to accomplish I truly think it's about as close to "perfect" as a little thing like this could be
Is it just me or would anyone else like see through windows with shades on front door?
That was the #1 bit of feedback on Cherokee last year
I think 99% of folks will agree with you
Personally: I do, too.
Yuup, the door looks like it's from a different trailer. A sore thumb look. It needs the Wolf pup door to look finished.
I hope the r-pod black tempered glass door trend catches on to other trailers!
I’m in love. This little thing is calling to me. Is it bad that I want to pack up my girl-dog, leave the hubby and 3 teenage boys and boy-dog to fend for themselves, and take this out on a girls only weekend escape??????
Once you leave those animals alone in the zoo unsupervised you'll probably want to just keep driving.
Ever see Mrs. Doubtfire? When the mom comes home and sees the house wrecked after an epic birthday bash?
You know it's going to be just like that.
Also -- this is exactly the kind of response you'll never get from a Corporate McStuffypants RV Store LOL
Too funny-you called it true. Which is exactly why I’m fantasizing about owning my very own escape-pod. :)
I DON'T LIKE THE SHOWER CURTAIN :(
EVERYTHING ELSE IS GREAT!!
The good news is if that's the only thing giving you a little pause, then it's pretty easily swapped out!
6:30 Not Fluffy Friend Friendly 🤷🏽♂️ #ThickInTheHips
Hard to be fluffy friendly in a tiny box like this one. Lot easier when you have Montana-space to work with!
I think you could use a new pair of gloves
those are my new gloves -- they have little holes where I can pop my index/thumb out to operate cameras with tiny buttons, then slip my fingers back in
Once it gets really cold I have an ugly/stupid looking (but effective) "over mitten) thing that does the same sort of thing
