I think I’d take that bed down to a twin or double and set it in there sideways, with a bolster at the back. Solo traveler here; don’t need a queen. Use it as a couch during the day, and bed at night.

I have to tell you Josh. The only reason I have not bought a trailer from you is my best friend my wife. Yet the more I show her your vids the more she gets interested and asked me to save certain vids. Which lets me know she definitely has it in her mind. And she knows the one she wants. She just loves Murphy beds because they give more room .

We have had ours for a year and really like it. Bad things are 1the storage under the bed is so tight it blows the paneling off the front of the bed. Cure ,put a vent on each side to vent air. 2,remember to put the tv back when you go to bed or hit your head when you go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. 3 ,cup holders could be a little deeper. Other than that it's a cozy rv for TWO.

It’s like my wife and I have sat down with you for half an hour and discussed what we are looking for in an RV. Then you go out and make your videos. And we’ve looked at several. Since it’s an adults only trailer, it would be great if the tv could have better access to the theater seats and be bigger. That is one of the first things we look for in a trailer. But I adore everything else in this plan. No carpet. The colors. The space. Thank you

Since you asked, here is my feedback: I absolutely hate those carpeted "steps" on the left side of the bed. You cannot walk around on that side at all. My trailer doesn't have that there and it has pass thru storage under the bed (different brand, but if Coachman can do it, so can Cougar). I sleep on that side -- I do like to put my shoes there and often I change there, so I'd be super annoyed at not having that floor space on my side of the bed. Also, I would request that the manufacturer use the light colored cabinets everywhere.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  4 года назад +5

I appreciate the time you spent putting this together and welcome all constructive feedback! I don't build the thing, so I don't take offense and simply pass it along to our build brand parters :)
Those carpet "Steps" are actually helping house things like the water heater btw. This model does not have a lot of other places it for it other than on the door side under the awning (which folks generally dislike as well). It's a tricky thing fitting all the systems into a smaller model sometimes!
Thanks again for sharing. Would love to hear from you more often! :)

That white wood tone really brightens that trailer up, I've always liked this model, it does what I need in a size that fits the places I want to camp. Love that little bar, that really is a great floorplan, plus a little more upscale than what you often find it that size makes it even more appealing.

What I also like about this kind of layout is that you have a closet right when you walk in. When it is wet, or your feet are sandy or...you have a place to walk in take off shoes and coats and keep the mess a little limited from the rest of the space. Really like that. And, to quote another commenter, thanks for keeping the camera steady and doing the inside first. We need the size info, weight, then I really want to see inside. Nice improvements in your video offerings :-)!

I would like the fridge by the door so you dont have to track dirt across the camper, and definitely larger bathroom. 2 person shower and a larger counter top and storage above mirror. Put tv on wall where fridge used to be and a fireplace or more storage underneath.

Have a question about placement of the tv as it seems that if one person goes to bed and uses the privacy curtain, the person staying up to watch tv would be cut off from watching tv. Maybe move the tv placement over the sink?

I have another question regarding this model. You have a video of another make and model that you designed the floor plan on and was built, how about asking if this model could be built with twin beds? I know it would take away the hanging storage beside the bed, but maybe the wardrobe could go somewhere else and have drawers under the beds with overhead storage over the beds. This rv really speaks to us but we both have different sleep needs at our age. I sleep HOT and he needs sheet, blanket and bedspread. You stated that you and your wife have different firmness needs for your mattress. Just curious if Keystone would be up to the challenge. Thank you.

The rig has a 'Bachelor Pad' feel. Zero separation for the cost. Rear dumps limits alot of off grid camping. I chose a 2021 Lance 2375, mainly for the 'rear living ' floor plan. With the 2×5/8' lift kit combined with dumps ahead of the tandem wheels gives me more access to off grid camping. At $42k base, $49k out the door with loads of factory installed upgrades including a Onan/Cummins 4500wt Inverter generator, I'm very happy. Let's not forget ducted heating to the 3-45 gal. tanks. It's a true All weather unit.

My only wish is that the privacy curtains at the end of the bed were blackout curtains. Trying to make the sleeping area as dark as possible is my goal. When you travel in the far far north with about 20 hours of daylight in the summer, these are the details that make camping more comfortable 😀

Residential king and queen beds both measure 80” in length. The only bed that is longer is a California King which I’ve never seen offered in and RV. That would be a good idea! The 74” king and queen beds offered in a lot of RVs are too short for even average size people.

If it were me, I would use the bar as a hidden TV storage to pop up. I would also make the the entrance closet used for proper full length clothes. I never use a Microwave, so that would be gone. Also, ideally, individual bedside reading lamps, ditch the above the bed light. The kitchen could do with a wee bit of a smaller sink and angled differently to use when slide is in. Great RV

(Also have a detailed tour of that layout with VASTLY different options at ruclips.net/video/qVIxivd3eEA/видео.html you can review)
Cougar uses floor vents as they're a brand that has a big focus on cold camp function. Floor heating is significantly more effective for that goal and helps prevent cold floors and cold "zones" in the camper. It's not for everybody obviously and we carry RVs with both types of heating systems for a reason!

Yes, as is there's slightly more room but it's very difficult to access. A drawer would be MUCH better. Another change that would be really useful is to add an access door to the under-sink storage underneath the bar. It would make the generous space there much more usable.

I know it is coming, but I don't want to think about it. I love that the "carpet" is the vinyl woven stuff from high end pontoon boats, super easy to clean and it feels nice under foot! I would still prefer a non divided sofa, we like to cuddle, just another case of wrong no matter what you do. I love the side camera prep, 22 feet sounds small but it is enough to lose a motorcycle in.

Love that raised breakfast bar adding to counter space, as well as the curtained off bed area. Would hope a smaller bed is an option. Seems like even with the ability to swivel the TV, it won't be at good viewing angle for the theatre seats. All higher TVs should have a lowering option on the swivel!!! Love the storage in this unit. TFS 😊

If not, how would you suggest to cool the fridge/freezer in advance? We were ready to write a check for one ~4+ years ago but after sitting in it for an hour waiting for the sales guy to return we decided to look at the WhiteHawk. We own the 2019 version, and I too, am very familiar with the longer days up north. I am very sensitive to light while trying to sleep. I made curtains with a fleece "lining" to help cut down on drafts you get from the windows in icy weather. (Purchased Walmart curtains, hemmed them to size, added a lining.) I also purchased room darkening curtains from Walmart to hang WITH the dining and kitchen window blinds. I also added a quilted piece (currently velcroed to the back-side of the front window.) Between those (for insulation). Now, with our privacy curtains it is very dark in the bed area. Dark, and stays comfortable temp-wise.

  • @lquirouette1
    @lquirouette1 3 года назад +2

We have the 2018 22RBS and love it. I do like the lighter cabinets in the kitchen on this one. However, they took away the extra storage drawers on the bed side of the kitchen counter and then made a bar top. We use the drawers as dresser drawers. By eliminating them a lot of storage was lost. The bar top on a small trailer like this isn't useful. It makes the usable counter space smaller. I see they are still putting the water pump along side the bed on the "driver's" side of the camper. This makes it difficult to get in and out of the bed from that side. Younger people might not have issues but if you are older like me, you can't just swing your legs off the bed and get up, you literally have to scooch down to the foot of the bed to get out and then crawl in on hands and knees to get back in. I'm not a fan of the newer models clear shower doors. If someone likes a more open feel in the bathroom, they can leave the shower doors open when camping. It's better anyway so the shower can air out and dry more quickly. One last thing about this camper and ours, the shirt closets as a unit look like they might be the same in size that they use in other models for a queen bed. They actually overlap the edge of the king bed. This is a great little camper and we still love ours but these are some criticisms I have with this model. If Keystone addressed the above issues it would be IMHO the perfect camper.

I feel like I'm cheating on another channel. I always said Josh will get my jokes and Matt will get my three things I like and three things I dislike.
However, I have to say and I hope someone buys one of these because of my comments. Seriously, I have been researching RVs and travel trailers for about four years. I currently live in Lima, Peru and plan on returning end of the year.
The Keystone Cougar 22RBS is without a doubt the best couple's camper on the market today. Last year while in Florida I went to a local dealership in Cocoa, FL and they had this model. Do you ever have one of those moments when you see something and everything in your gut tells you "This is the one."? I looked at Grand Design, Coachmen, Jayco, and many other brands but other than the $90,000 units, this is the one that felt solid. It's kind of like that feeling you had when you sat in a Ford Pinto then you sat in a Lincoln Town Car. Yeah, it's that kind of quality difference.
That being said I am going to give you my three likes and my three dislikes.
    Dislikes:
#1 They should have made the huge closet in the rear with adjustable shelves. (I could have almost seen them making that a space for a washer/dryer combo but I think it would make the rear too heavy.) Thoughts?
#2 I agree with those two cubby holes next to the bed. Small pull out drawers, or even better yet completely sealed boxes with lift up lids for hidden valuables. I like when RVs have hidden storage.
#3 There is no access to the huge closet from inside the bathroom. At least in the middle section I would have a door and a place to add a clothes basket so directly from the bathroom you could drop your dirty clothes in there without having to carry them out.
    Likes:
#1 I don't know where to start. YES! No dinette. Those Thomas Payne theater seats are some of the most freaking comfortable seats I have ever sat in.
#2 That kitchen. As an international cook, that kitchen is a dream for the size it is. You have not only the appliance area behind the sink but you have an additional 3 feet to the right of the stove. Then if that's not enough you have the raised bar which is plenty roomy for doing some prep work. Or if you do have friends visit (not stay) you have the perfect space for a buffet.
#3 That toilet placement, it gets the award for the best Do-able Poo-able.
    SMH: Shaking My Head
#1 Why hasn't Keystone gone to Azdel yet? I know there is a cost difference but I think over time it will pay for itself.
#2 King size beds are nice but I wish Keystone would offer this with a Queen as an option. DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE! Just offer a Queen too. Being a solo traveler, I would prefer a larger space around the bed than a larger bed.
#3 For such a perfect design Keystone should try to get those vents out of the floor.

I can also assure you, that your efforts to educate me in this early stage will certainly consider Haylett when we do buy. I am concerned about service after the sale, but look forward to speaking to your team.
