    We just purchased one of these in Sept. Used it two weekends in October....this is a great couples camper. Space, conveniences, comfort...the King bed really puts it over the top....we love it!!

      Ed Kutz glad to hear you like it. Have you needed to do an overnight pit stop where you can’t leave the slide open? Were you able to access the bed? My husband & I really like this camper, but are concerned that a slide blocking the bed might not be conducive to those quick road stops on the way to destination.

    • @edkutz8156
      @edkutz8156 4 года назад +1

      @@kcoble70 you can't access the bed with the slide closed....but if you have the app on your phone, you can open it a little, go to the bed, and then close up again...or leave partially open. This camper is amazing....

      Ed Kutz I like this unit too Over Winnebago Micro lite 2106FBS or
      Rockwood Mini lite 2109S both similar sizes. Would consider cutting down the overhang on bar area flush to squeeze by to bed with slide closed.Don’t want to opem even a little when pulling over for a break.

      I'm so glad to see your comment! My husband and I are looking at buying for the 1st time and I've been looking at everything out there. I'm weighing out pro's/con's etc and I too, really like this one as well, if it is just for a couple! I'd read, 'don't buy something with extra bunk's or this and that, thinking, well when the kid's come to visit' etc,.....it said, 'buy for 'you two' and what you need/want.' We both very much like the set up and atmosphere of this one! We have a Queen bed at home, so, the King would feel as it does when we're at a hotel :) Thanks!!!!!

    Love the theatre seating and no dinette, a dinette is a waste of space for two people, plus they have always been uncomfortable to sit at and when its a bed, just horrible, love this layout!

    Wow! That is the perfect couples caper for my use. More kitchen storage Good access with slide out when retracted. A window over the bed adding MUCH more light and visibility while inside. Larger wheels and tires. Non retractable tv antenna allowing much more room for solar panels on the roof. A ladder to access the roof (Is it walkable?) A shower rather than a tiny unusable tub, (Is there an outdoor shower? Important to me.) A clear window on the door, allowing you to see out before letting your pets out. More USB and plug sockets. Easily half ton towable. I replaced my dinette with similar Thomas Payne theater seating like the ones in the video and found them far more functional than the hideous dinette. When I have company, they get the bed and I sleep very comfortably reclined on the recliners. ***** from me!

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  5 лет назад +1

      *ROOF:* Absolutely walkable. Skip to the end of the video. I'm trotting all over it. I'm about 190lbs for reference. Not a small guy. It doesn't flex under me any time. I've actually noticed that double vaulted roof of a Cougar really does a dynamite job of distributing heavy loads.
      *OUTDOOR SHOWER:* See that blue coil hose on the driver's side front corner.

      Referencing my reply from your previous post on the 192RBS Freedom Express: You're truly looking at 3 different size/levels of RVs here.
      *COMPACT:* Geo Pro 19FBS. 7'4" Body, 20ft Long, East/West Bed. Built with the ability to easily park or dry camp any time.
      *TRADITIONAL ULTRALITE:* Rockwood 2109S & Freedom Express 192RBS are similar layouts that each have standout qualities over the other. Rockwood tends to do a lot of enhanced small features while Freedom Express's value is larely found in the larger body & bed arrangements.
      *ULTRALITE PLUS:* This Cougar 22RBS is like the 2109S/192RBS on steroids. Larger, more of everything, but the budget follows suit.
      Another one you might enjoy is the Traditional Ultralite sister to this Cougar called the Passport 2210RB. You can see the cougar vs. passport here: bit.ly/2XVldNG
      And the others compare here: bit.ly/2XPLrRK

    Very nice for a more compact camper. Like I have said in the past looking for a retirement trailer but also looking for something to just travel and see the sights. I can see carrying some items (tables, chairs, grill etc.) under the pickup cap that would make this one a fun one for those bounce and go trips yet also comfortable enough to stay for a while. Love it!

    Don't get me wrong..these are beautiful state of the art trailers but camping aint camping any more...lol
    I just bought a home in Manitouwadge (northern ontario Lake Superior country) We did a fishing trip into wabooskin lake and slept in 4 man canvas tents with a wood stove for heat..did all our meal prep over a roaring fire and the only luxury we had was a old brick oven made there at the site (we had biscuits with our moose stew!) The coffee was the best I have ever tasted as we filled our 5 gallon water jugs from a spring fed artesian well at the lake. THATS CAMPING!!...LOL OH AND WE JUST ABSOLUTELY KILLED THE PICKEREL AND LAKE TROUT!! You could never get a trailer into the places we go. 3/4 TON 4X4S then the ATVS and sometimes we have to make or repair our own trails and roads! These trailers 40k plus are for the well to dos that go to a full service campground and everyone tries to outdo everyone else's trailer..lol and heaven forbid if the fuckin T.V. aint workin...lol

    Hi Josh! I have learned a lot watching your videos. This Cougar model is my favorite. I have two questions...
    1. Why do they have the strip of carpet under the slide with the chairs? It would seem more consistent for the whole floor to be uncarpeted. You’ll need to bring a vacuum for just that little strip.
    2. Can you replace the metal blinds in the kitchen with the same shades the other windows have? It would help to get the rv dark at night if all the windows had room darkening shades.
    Thank you for your videos!
    Judy D

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  5 лет назад +5

      *CARPET:* Best guess? "Because that's how we always did it." They *could* theoretically remove it, but their production team has allegedly been resistant to using laminate flooring in the slide due to extra time required per build.
      *BLINDS:* They're metal for fire code reasons. You'll notice pretty much EVERY RV with any type of shade uses miniblinds by the stove for to meet code. Owners can do what they want with an RV once they own it, but the MFGs can't violate certain things.

    Hi Josh I have been looking for trailers and I have to say your commentary on this cougar is outstanding. You go over the whole trailer top to bottom your even on the roof explaining all the nuts & bolts about it. Your very knowledgeable about this product good on you. Most videos are within 10 mins they kick the tires race go around the trailer not explaining everything. They run inside say nice floor plan open a few draws and of course they have to open the fridge & microwave and don't know what size they are. I'm a newbie and looking for my first trailer I have learned so much from you and keep on being funny it works!! You have sold me on this Cougar 22RBS if you weren't on the other side of the country I would buy it from you lol Keep up the great Job !! looking forward to seeing more videos. Take care and be safe out there.

    Great floor plan. Azdel? Double pane windows? OSB board floors or plywood? wifi? Solar? Awning material? Gen prep? AND Why are the windows always opposite the camp side...all you get to see is the guy next to you? Love your vids, learning much.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  4 года назад

      See previous reply regarding azdel. Glad you found the updated footage!!
      * Windows: Not dual pane nor should they be. Dual pane windows are exceptionally expensive and provide *nearly* no R-value bonus. (We have a video on the topic if you'd like to learn more). They also don't prevent condensation from humidity so much as hide the humidity in the RV (Which should be handled by running the A/C And/Or using a dehumidifier).
      * Laminated floor with "Hyperdeck" (ruclips.net/video/X2lA2iB-6xg/видео.html for a little more info)
      * Wifi Ready - there's an aftermarket widget you can add on
      * Awning material? I've never had someone ask me that. Can you clarify please?
      * Gen prep is not a feature found in this class
      * Windows on camp side because this size of RV is difficult to put an effective kitchen in a slide on the driver's side. Not impossible, but there aren't many ways to do it. Usually folks spend more time outside in smallers RVs and windows on the camp side are seen as "less important" as they otherwise would be (Though I also prefer my windows overlooking MY site)

    The lack of a dining table and U-shaped seating area is a dealbreaker for me on this floor plan. The rest is perfect. When spending significate time on the road, I'd want a table, not only for enjoying mealtime, but I'd want the option of being able to work at a table or play games as well. I also liked all the additional storage under the dining seats shown in the 2018 model.

    Do you think this is too much trailer for a 2016 GMC Yukon Denali with the 6.2 V8? It's rated to tow 8,100 pounds but I'm not sure whether or not this trailer and contents would be pushing our luck. I don't want to beat the Yukon up on long trips, especially through the mountains. Many thanks in advance for your response. Cheers!

      Considering the GVWR of this camper (meaning the base RV + MAX cargo) is less than your tow rating and its shorter length I cannot see how this WOULDN'T be an OK pairing with your Yukon. Proper brake control and WDH'ing would be necessities of course, but those are normal orders of business.

    Is there anything like this without a slide out? We love everything about this camper but want no slides. We have friends who have full-timed for years in a Class A and they had major leak issues with their slide last spring. We’d prefer to avoid that, if possible.
    We do love this coach. Short length, but all the features. Please tell me the unicorn exists with no slide 😁

    i would cut the end of the counter top off or remove that whole piece and have it cut and re-rounded with a router then reattach it...you would only lose about 10 inches then you could squeeze by..0:43..its that counter overhang that is in the way. Why would they have that overhang like that..it serves no purpose

    Hey Josh, how do these compare quality wise to the Rockwood minilites? My impression was that Rockwood was a tad above Keystone, but the Cougars look like well built trailers, and I see a lot more of them on the roads. Thanks man!

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  4 года назад +4

      Cougar is the most decorated RV in the history of RV'ing with more awards than any other single brand. They've done well for years and maintained an impressive level of consistency
      It's hard to really match what rockwood has done though. They are and have been the best selling laminated trailer for so long it's just not even funny. They've long set and maintained the Gold Standard in their class.
      If you twisted my arm and forced me to say one or the other I would give the consistency nod to Rockwood, but I would also definitely add I have not one but *two* Cougar models on my own personal short list. I like what they do and wouldn't hesitate to own one personally. I think that alone should be quite telling

    Great review and its definitely on my short list...do you know what the warranty is on the roof?

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  5 лет назад +2

      Based on your inquiry regarding the "Roof warranty" I fear you may have been an intended victim of some half-truth snake oil sales tactics. I apologize if what I'm about to share is old news to you, but I don't know your experience level and want to ensure you get accurate info.
      When a lot of people hear "roof warranty" they think it is some sort of coverage pertaining to the entirety of the roof construction. In reality it refers to the membrane-only & even then covers very little in the way of monetary value.
      The actual structure of the roof has nothing to do with the "roof warranty" of an RV. So, in reality, EVERY RV has some kind of 10-12-15-18-etc year "roof warranty." It's really what is UNDER the skin that matters.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  5 лет назад +4

      Good question. I don't have records of it. It's not a high frequency item. To be rejected something needs a serious defect. If we find something like a slide not working or some other large impact defect, then we simply have the MFG correct the oversight.
