Correct. I had an apprentice that was overweight, didn’t keep himself cleaned up, lazy, etc. He bitched and moaned that he couldn’t get a girlfriend, so I started challenging him. He got so mad that he quit. But he must have had a revelation, because I ran into him and his girlfriend at the grocery store. He got a haircut, cut 60 pounds, and got his shit together. i completely agree with that. in regards to change and humility however, i dont. personally im not a humble person at all. i dont brag either, but im not humble. yet i listen to criticism and think if its actually valid, and if it is, AND if it also bothers me, i do something to change. being able to recognize flaws in oneself and accepting valid critique has nothing to do with being humble, in my opinion.
what you described with "hearing criticism and just moving on" sounds more like what a narcissist would do. yet i do know many a-holes and people who like to brag, but they are able to accept critique when its valid.
in my opinion, humility is way overrated and made a virtue when its not. if you are competent at something, you have every right to show and talk about it. imagine elon musk "nah, my corporations aint that great" or mike tyson in his prime "yeah, im somewhat decent at boxing". its ridiculous. if you are really good at something and you "downplay" it, its outright dishonesty, and thus a negative character trait in my opinion ,and has nothing to do with humility at all.

Be consistent and it slowly builds up in time. Sometimes we're too fixated on the end result but think we have to jump a mountain to get there. Just do the smallest you can possibly do without extreme or unnecessary pain and keep going. I used to be like this too. Instead of small achievable goals, I'd fixate on how large the issue is, be discouraged and end up not moving at all. You can't move if you don't take atleast just one step. And everyone can take that one small step; even you.

Change takes time, brother. I've had many many failed attempts to change myself during university, and ultimately what I realized after graduation was that, even though I knew I shouldn't be setting goals too high and should have more patience, I was still setting goals that take too much effort to reach, burn myself out too fast, all the while also focusing on how far I am from where I think my potential is at. All of these are ingredients for failure in change and self-improvement.
For most of us average ppl, you just gotta change what you can, put in real effort but not over exert yourself, and focus on how much has changed and have faith in yourself, instead of focusing on how far you are from your fullest potential or thinking to yourself you don't have potential at all.

from experience I can tell you that that laziness REALLY only happens before you start, and maybe the first week -- after that it's honestly not that hard to go anymore. When you stop going, the hurdle to get back to it seems insurmountable, but after returning 1 time you're back. In hindsight, it never really was laziness as much as it was procrastination & lack of motivation (I'm lazy as hell too, but the difficulty I faced was mostly because I couldn't convince myself why going TODAY was so important -- tomorrow really wouldn't make a big difference) @@JKingSniper

I've been diagnosed with BPD, ADHD, Anxiety, depression, insomnia, and so many other issues due to a really fucked up past. I've taken anti-depressants, and of course birth control because women in her 20s. Both medicines, alongside just being too sad to do anything ever, I gained a ton of weight during my life time.
At my highest weight, I was 297lbs, earlier this year in April. I was SHOCKED and terrified. Never did I ever want it to start with a 3. Been working on getting more protein, more veggies, more water, more vitamins, walking everyday I count that shit DAILY, I'm almost at 300 miles now and Since April 22nd I've lost 61lbs. I'm really anxious in public either way, so I do go the treadmill route.
The loud noises, harsh lights, and lack of privacy in public really bother me so I do prefer the comfort of my own room, but even so I feel wanting comfort is doable while still pushing yourself! Cooking for myself, cutting out sweets and limiting myself to 1 can of soda a day, and walking 3 miles a day has resulted in 61lbs weight lost. The treadmill feels better than any medicine, food, or therapist ever made me feel. Exercising and taking control of your health and your body is the best use of time you could possibly do. It's never a waste of time taking care of your health
I'm really grateful more youtubers are posting about stuff like this. I think the biggest issue with mental health is in direct correlation with how dissconnected we are from our bodies now. If our bodies feel like shit, we'll feel like shit. But I can definitely say, with doing the workouts and having a routine it's made things so much easier, better, healthier and managable.
My sleep is better, my skin is better, my confidence and attention span are better. Absolutely have done anything I could to improve things. Lowkey Asmon, if you ever want some completely random Q&A story time stuff hmu lmao. I am so passionate about comfy weight lost stuff at home and self love while still embrassing the inner pained parts of ourself, it'd be cool to talk to someone who's a lot more knowledgable and see if there's anymore I can add to my perspectives to continue to grow.

Fat shaming is mostly, logically inept as most instances it serves to demotivate people. It's also really pathetic to fat shame individuals if you're desperately trying to feel better about yourself.
Everyones' body's are different and thus the storage of fat is also different. Some people store more fat than others in certain places, some people can have faster or slower metabolisms. Asmon for example likely has a very high metabolism and if his was slower, he would definitely be morbidly obese.
But yeah, In conclusion: fat shaming is moronic and pathetic

Wow, what a story. It takes a very upright and strong character to not just recoil in the face of personal criticism by strangers, but instead try to take something positive from it and push yourself into another direction. It's an insane and very admirable achievement without a doubt.
That being said, from my life experience looks are really not the make or break for your rizz, no matter if you're a man or a woman. I've known both obese women and men who never were without a partner from their late teens. Many of them now have families and children. Let's not even start talking about style. I've also known plenty of people who couldn't have cared less about their drip, still they always found people to connect to.
The question of whether you're going to find a gf/bf or even spouse really depends on two things. Are you a person sociable enough that people enjoy being around you and chilling with you, and not to a little extent in connection to this, are you a person who is at ease with yourself and thus carries some confidence and emotional stability. Do you like yourself? Are you okay yourself with how you look? Would you date you?
And that last one is a big one, because if you have a realistic view of yourself, but you're okay with yourself you will be open to dating people of a similar level of attractiveness as you. However, if you're not really satisfied with yourself AND you're only eyeing people way out of your league... well... then you better take that personal criticism and try to push yourself upwards a few numbers in rating like this guy. Otherwise, you better acknowledge what you yourself are bringing to the table and accept that you cannot expect more of a potential partner either. That's basically the two options you have.
But generally, if you don't like yourself at least a little finding a partner is very very hard and even those you find usually won't be those who are good for you. Entering a relationship with major insecurities is always a recipe for disaster. This guy though did everything right. He was longing for something he felt he couldnt get. He took people's feedback seriously but didn't let it put him down. He turned himself around, gained real confidence, and finally found love.

Now it's a challenge to keep that up knowing the end goal in sight. It's not something for somebody else, it's not something that'll be for something in the future, it's going to be for you exclusively, and that's a great thing to work at. A lot of people get the motivation or the realization that they want to change things, but only can manage to do it for the short term. But the best part about this is making a system that's sustainable and workable but gives you massive gains (as in health and well-being gains, not just big muscles), which should be a fun process that gives you a little motivation every now and then - enough so to keep you going at it until you reach your 'end goal'. Goodluck, I really wish you and people like yourself the best.

Now married, had a family with her since. It not impossible, only thing stopping u , is well you. Im not saying looks are only thing that is important, no but rather the mentality and outlook in life, if u take care your body, put yourself out there to meet people esp good ones not in clubs or dodgy places, the chances of finding a love for life are very high. Good luck folks i was once a shut in that keep waiting at home, feeling sorry for myself, once day i just decide NO.

Love this story, I had a similar transition but instead just was honest with myself. I barely showered, my hairstyle was bad, I was chubby, bad fashion and other stuff like bad posture or talking I did the "um" "uh" etc a lot, and generally had a negative outlook on things with a pretty cringe way of speaking to people, so similarly I sought out help but more online and studying people more popular.
And honestly rather than give up or try double down and think "This is who I am", even personality wise, it's not what I wanted. I did go through depression at the time but changing myself helped get out of it, practicing a lot on getting rid of bad habits of speaking or what I hated about how I interacted with people. Now I'm not perfect nowadays or married, but it got me out of feeling miserable, disliking myself and feeling I had no chances for relationships I wanted.
There's a lot you can do if you have an open mind, both from yourself and others, and listen to each advice. Whether people are hypocrites for giving you advice or not, don't compare what they say to them, compare what they say with yourself, and then ofcourse just be honest that your current self sucks and there's a different "you" that can be much better.
Most importantly though, take it slow and don't rush, don't get overwhelmed by the changes and work on each one until it feels comfortable, a habit and apart of you.

    • @lukashenrique4295
      @lukashenrique4295 Год назад +4

this is some solid advice, I went through the exact kind of thing as u I'm thinking. had a lot of issues interacting with people, my self esteem was awful because I never rly liked how I looked and I used to copy how other people, famous people interacted to make it my personality but after many failures because it wasn't genuine, I've finally after some time of thinking and getting to understand myself through experiences, got to know how I really am and accept myself.
when u accept yourself, everything changes. it's okay if you want to say "uhh" a lot, if that's how u really feel, and in my case, I did stop saying "umm" all the time. still do it ocasionally, which is normal, but most of the time my brain works better now, and to respond to people just comes naturally without having "to think" much. instead of thinking, if u just act, the brain after some interactions like these, will adapt, and it will feel natural to be yourself again.
crazy how the brain works, it adapts quickly after u've made a decision to change. I was so weird I didn't even comment on youtube before. used to write stuff in here, then erase all of it. now I write college essays because that's how I express myself, and who cares if most people don't bother to read, someone might, and it's to that person where I'm aiming my messages.
