We just left Kyiv yesterday after 5 days. We really loved it a lot. The architecture is amazing, and we got to see all the spots you mentioned. Another great spot (because it's so different and interesting) is the other UNESCO site, Pechersk Lavra, it's a monestary with some underground passages and caves where they have a number of Orthodox Saints mummified and buried in glass coffins!
Neil Zuidema The people are friendly once you get talking to them. And navigating around was quite easy, we used google maps most of the time for walking. Uber rides were very affordable so we used it often (about $4 usd for 15 minute ride). Beer is $1.82 usd for 2.5L at the minimart. Great price! 👌🏼
When they build NEW churches here they build them like they should look, traditional and majestic. New churches built in Norway, if any, just look like any other building.. Also, it feels SAFE in Kiev, you just don´t see gangs of people looking like they are up to no good, which you do see so many places in other countries further west.
I think that nowaday churches should be really simple buildings. Realtively cheap to construct. It's a place for belief and pacification. You don't need to spend a lot of money for the luxury looks. Better to spend that budget on charity - what religion should do in the first place, not building huge churches with golden domes just to show off when there's so much people in need. So I think that Norway got it right :)
@@Papa_Baphomet Almost nobody goes to church in Norway anymore I am afraid...They dont spend any money on the building and they dont go to church, except people in Norway from Poland, Ukraine and other places...And the building look like they could be a supermarket. In UKraine it is nice building, AND people go there..
I'm from NZ too! Planning to go Lviv and Kiev next year, can't wait, already planning! Did you get a Ukrainian sim card for data? I've heard they're really cheap for unlimited internet. Airbnb seems the way to go, so does Uber. Was there much of a language barrier? Can;t wait to see the secret, hidden restaurants too!
Hello! Ah awesome to see another kiwi interested in Ukraine 🇺🇦! That country still remains one of our favourites, we plan to go back too. Yes, we did get a SIM card they’re super cheap. Airbnb and Uber are definitely the way to go. It’s very affordable. I highly recommend that you watch my cost of living video in Ukraine ruclips.net/video/LFkDYZVxrXE/видео.html It discusses in more depth the cost of the SIM card, Uber’s and Airbnb’s. As for the language barrier, yes we did notice that Ukrainians don’t speak much English so download google translate on your phone if you haven’t already, this app will do wonders for yah! So many cool places to enjoy there! Let me know if you have any other questions about Ukraine 🇺🇦 I’m happy to help! We loved that place 🙌🏼.
What do you guys think of kyiv? I honestly love this place! And can't wait to go back :)
Would love to go....but covid and Russia trouble 😥

Very true! The churches were just absolutely gorgeous here. Even the less touristy ones. And yes it does feel safe!!
