I love these paints. I had to have them because they remind me of the Ranger Ink water reactive oxide inks. I love your doodles and will be keeping an eye out for more videos as you play!❤
I've watched many videos on these paints and yours is the most fantastic use of these I've seen! I'm sold, both on the paints and your channel. New subscriber here! Gorgeous work.
Color and doodles, my cup runs over with happiness when I see one of your posts! I have tried other Kuretake paints so I will watch for this set! It’s amazing to be able to have a Private Class in the privacy of my home! Thank you for sharing your work with me. Karen Dirmish, Learner!
Oh 🤭 thanks so much! I don't consider myself a teacher, as I feel that I still have so much to learn myself. But it's nice to hear that others also benefit in some way of my findings 💕❤️
These are such gorgeous colors . I bought a set at St. Louis Art supply as they are in stock and $7 cheaper than Amazon if they are even in stock. They do need lots of water I recommend using a mixing palette/cup when watering down the pigment as they separate much more when you dilute them in more water.
The blue reminds me of a Paynes Grey, with a kick. I really like it. And they all have that turquoise base. I think it would be a useful set for seaside work. Another way to get the granulating effect is to spritz alcohol upon any watercolor. It is a single color effect but that can be modified with a dry undertone.
I LOVE that you say you need more practice with them, instead of just dismissing them!!! Because that's exactly what you do with new materials. 🖤🖤🖤 I agree about the gold, maybe just play without it for a while. Also... When you put the next stripe of water, touching the colour, where it bleeds, it looks like trees!! 🖤
I was so excited when I heard Kuratake was putting out a granulating set, I bought them right away without looking for reviews. I swatched them first directly from the pans. Then I spritzed water into one of those flower petal palettes and swatched again from there. I did one of Kristy Rice's watercolor exercises, using my puddles, making brick dashes down the page. Now you've given me some more playtime with these. I may throw in some Kuratake graphite stripes. I will be very sparing with my gold. I can't wait to see what else you do with them.
Hi Bettina! I think you did a great job trying out these newish watercolors and the results were compelling. I was glad to hear that you like them enough to try them out again and learn more. I have wanted to try them too! I did find another RUclipsr who tried them as well and likes them. She is very different from you in the way she works but I think you will like the demos I found. She has a lighter touch and also uses layering rather than doing things in one go it seems. When she did her swatching, she used a lot of water and then let it alone rather that tilting the paper around, not a criticism, just an observation. I agree what you said about the gold. Perhaps bring them in as another layer and/or leave some white space that can be filled it later? Either way, it looks like experimenting more could be a lot of fun! I always learn something from you and the image you created with the doodles worked out great!!! Below are a couple of links if you want to check the artist out. Take care and cheers!! 🥰 ruclips.net/video/gROJdJdSQ8k/видео.html ruclips.net/video/2drC21op6bE/видео.html
Gee, thanks Bettina, now I have to spend more money on art supplies. lol I really like their Starry Colors, so I knew that these would be a little special. I'm a big fan of granulating colors, but the way these change color was so unexpected and wonderful! Can't wait to get them and play.
I don’t and wouldn’t want to buy these paints ,. But I will always watch you create with them as I love to see you doodling all over your paints ,. As it turns out beautifully,,,,. So thank you,,,xxxxxxx ❤
Thank you so much Bettina, I really really enjoyed watching you create those beautiful and wonderful paints that are very very superb, colours that are so beautiful and amazing too. I’ve just brought so. Kuretake watercolours, I can’t so paying £20.00 for five colours. Even though they are beautiful and I love ❤❤❤❤ them. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤
I think these really do perform better not used directly out of the pan but mixed with a lot of water. The granulation really comes out. They do dry light so going back after they have dried and adding darker accents is necessary if you want the dark.
I've seen them used both ways. Someone was able to get an amazing subtle hue of granulation that I love much more, than when the colors separate so much. That's what I was trying to achieve. But like I said in the video, I need more practice for sure. Thank you for your input, I appreciate it!
I like your art style its very beautiful. Many watercolour pans will give you a stronger pigment if you spray them wet and leave them for at least 5 mins before you use them. Would be interesting to see how that small change affects your experience and final artwork.
So beautiful! I’m glad you got the granulating set! I have been loving mine. I have small ceramic sauce bowls and sometimes I will put some of the color with lots of water in the bowl and let it sit before I paint and other times I go right in from the pan but I always pre-wet each color. They are so fun to just see what they do! Can’t wait to see more of your creations using them. 😊
I follow Leslie Stroz here on RUclips and she did a test of finalises recently. Microns came in last, they are also the ones I use. Staedtler came in first.
Did the gold sit on top because it’s an acrylic, maybe, or did I hear you say this doesn’t typically happen for you with the Daniel Smith? I agree the gold overtook the page, but I’m really glad to see the gold paint in use. I’ve been looking for a good gold to accessorize my watercolor work, so thank you!
I have just ordered these, so I was glad to watch your project, and look forward to seeing more from you. I wonder if you used one of the Kuretake golds that would work better. Thank you.
What is the purpose of granulation, especially as strong as these❓. Is it just to use them in place of regular wc’s for a different look❓. I thought it came out beautifully with your wonderful doodling🩵🩵
I ran right out, well not really, I ordered from Amazon and played with them for several hours. Really don’t care for them and don’t know what I’ll do with them.
Yet another art supply gimmick to get you to waste your money. I'll stick with my tried and true favorites. Thanks for your demo - it spared me wasting my money.
I stopped when you finished the swatches to go put these in my Amazon cart. Thanks for sharing 👍🙂
They almost look like pottery glazes..beautiful!

I absolutely Love how you doodled in the trees

I bought these and they are so amazing, I can't stop using them. I got them for myself for my birthday. So much fun, can't wait to watch the video.

I love the end result!! I was also surprised at how light those paints were after they dried, but I think it would be fun to play with them!!
Thank you, and yes! They always dry so much lighter. Makes for more visible doodles, I guess? ☺️
A top fave for me - masterful "doodles" and special paint!

I’m looking forward to other ways you use these amazing paints
Love this, you are so talented.
bravo! great painting and doodling! I will buy this set to have a go!

Those colors are beautiful! I also have some pens that struggle on some paints so I can appreciate that. Look forward to see how you use them! 🎨
Absolutely fascinating! I'm so happy you purchased the set ❤
I have these colors too and I think they work better using one of them with other types of watercolors. 😊

I think the instructions say to put it in a bowl with a lot of water and let it sit for a bit. that might make the difference too
This type of painting is my favorite.
Your doodles are phenomenal ❤!!
Oh thank you! ❤️💕
These paints are exciting to use and different to what you expect which makes them fun
Gorgeous! Thank you 😊

I do like the artful way you created with paints/colors
That separate as they did.
I can imagine using the colors to create variety - striations

Thank you for this tip! They are definitely intriguing and I can't wait to play more with them! ❤️💕
It would be great to see another test of these colours without the gold if possible 🙏🙌✨️💖💝
This turned out gorgeous. Thank you🥰
Absolutely gorgeous ❤❤❤
I love what you did with this!
Love it !!

Great video. It would be interesting to see another one with less gold so that we can see the full potential of these watercolours.

Texture and multicolor 🙂
Lovely ❤
What is the gold that you are using btw?
You are too hard on yourself. I love your art
I suggest you use less water. And add the gold after the paint dried. Otherwise your painting is lovely!! I love these paints !
Very pretty. The set I got are slightly different colors.
Really! I didn't know they come in different colors! What is included in your set?
I thought this was lovely. Don’t be so hard on yourself.
❤🇬🇧🐈⬛️
🤩💕❤️
👍👍👍💕💕💕🇩🇰
I don't know how the orange got it's name? Where is the orange. What is that you are drawing now, it looks like teeth?
You’re not looking at it properly then
I ran right out, well not really, I ordered from Amazon and played with them for several hours. Really don’t care for them and don’t know what I’ll do with them.
I think the gold ruined it, it pushed out all the pigments. Maybe test without it first
Well, I wouldn't say 'ruined it', but I will definitely try it again without, or less of the gold for sure.
Yet another art supply gimmick to get you to waste your money. I'll stick with my tried and true favorites. Thanks for your demo - it spared me wasting my money.
Have you tried them on hot pressed paper? They look beautiful, but I agree with you that the gold took over. I haven't tried mine yet. 😇🩷🙏🙌
