I agree! I've watched a lot of videos on these paints and your work really showcases their potential in the best way, I think. I've been playing with them, but I'm a super beginner with watercolor in general, and I've struggled with these. I have learned the hard way that a good amount of water really makes the difference. I've learned from you how to do a light wash first and then come back with another layer of less diluted paint. I'm going to give that a try! Thank you! Also, in case anyone has made the same mistake as me when I first tried these (painting them on too thick) I've learned they reactivate quite nicely after drying on the paper, so all is not lost. I sprayed my paper and got a lot more movement and granulation and now they are actually very pretty and ready for some doodling. 😊
😂 wow so I started this video HATING those colors, I was like “what is this mud?!” Then they did that weird splashy vivid stuff when they dried… and I was intrigued. THEN your sea creatures made me GASP and I found myself filled with wonder… I’ve about run the gamut of human emotions during this short twenty minute video! I think these colors are way too unpredictable for my taste but your idea of doing something monochromatic really lends itself well to these paints. You’re a brave soul, delving into such uncertain territory! And your artwork is beautiful ❤ thanks for sharing!!
This is probably one of the coolest paintings I've seen anyone do in a while! I watch a LOT of videos for painting too. This looks like you painted sea animals in oxidized copper. My suggestion for a sea animal to add to this spread is a lionfish. They're an invasive species, unfortunately, but they are BEAUTIFUL. I'd love to see what these paints would do on one.
Also jellyfish & a stingray would be an awesome addition too. If you do add to your painting please show us your style. I learnt heaps just watching. The seal was my ultimate favourite ❤❤❤
Maybe a bayleen whale? Is a penguin a sea animal? So many beautiful sea creatures to choose from! What about the scary ones like lure fish or blob fish?
Oh wow, those colors were not what I was expecting! I kind of want to try using paints like this. It kind of forces you to give up control, which is something I appreciate about them. Also, loving the Gerudo music. I immediately got all giddy when I heard the opening music. 😂
Your paintings are what makes the paints look good. When I looked at the swatches, they seemed like any other of their kind. I too felt irritated with there only being five in the box. Leaving an empty pan and claiming it is there as a palette. The only thing I believe made the paints shine is your artistic skill and the vision you had in your theme. Someone beginning their journey like me may only feel frustration trying to work out how best to use them. I love Kuretake as a rule and have a few sets, but this set isn’t for me I think. Thanks for a wonderful and insightful video though. 👩🏻🎨🎨🖌️
Your work is so gorgeous! Which is all the more impressive given these paints look so frustrating to work with due to that intense color shift! So glad the algorithm decided to drop you in my feed 😁💜
It is really great to see the granulating Kuretake set used by different artists. The empty pan would have been perfect for your monochromatic use. Other painters have thought that each color needed its own empty mixing pan. Maybe the empty pan is to emphasize the importance of mixing with water first instead of using straight from the pan. I agree that the packaging does feel like you are missing a color.
Beautiful artwork - you got better results than I did. I think I will go back and test them again. I painted a seahorse using these paints and it turned out really well. These paints certainly suit underwater creatures. Lovely video, thank you. 🙏💜
These are such gorgeous illustrations! And that paint is utterly bonkers... i must hunt down a set! Absolutely well done with your mastery in controlling the pigments.
These are absolutely stunning! I never would have guessed the end results from the swatches. I would love to see more sea creatures, there are so many interesting starfish and jellies for instance.
Wow, that shift of color between wet and dry was quite dramatic, certainly didn't expect that! Your demo was very gorgeous btw, the otter is my favorite. Also, I think a shrimp or a seahorse would look quite cute in a spread like this.
These watercolor paints are beautiful. And your sea creatures came out so cool looking! It sort of reminds me of labradorite. Thanks so much for sharing!
Fantastic! I bought these paints a couple of months ago but have been waiting for some tutorials to guide me before I worked with them. This is EXACTLY what I needed. I love the under painting with them first then the details. Thank you for this!
Absolutely delighted to have stumbled across your channel. Subscribed and now following your instagram. I'm a big fan of sea creatures, hoping you'll add at least one seal to this set eventually!
This is incredible. I have looked at other videos on this set of paints and you provided such a huge control of this granulating paint. I don't think this set is for me but thank you for showing what you did with this paint type.
Absolutely phenomenal artwork. I've found myself rewatching this video for the past couple days. I can't get over how you created this artwork. I'm completely in awe. Amazing work.
That was such a magical painting sessioon and the music really rounded it off so nicely. Well done!! I didn’t expect they could look so lovely from the original swatches. 😍✨
Oh wow !! This is insane !! Kuretake should sponsor this!! I reckon they will be getting a lot of orders off the back of this video! How did you get it to be orange and green and brown? Did you just have to hope the colours worked out that way?? ❤
Wow, i was blown away with your vision and ability to trust where and how much they would change. Your painting turned out incredible! I agree with others, your skill and talent are what highlights the paints. I am so glad I found your video!
That’s absolutely amazing. I love my kerutake gamsai tambi & you did an amazing spread. I had all the sets of six pans & have seen mixed reviews but you made the orange into amazing sea creatures. It would look amazing to give them a Great Barrier Reef type of setting for them to swim over. You have made the granulating colours into an amazing art piece. Thank you❤❤❤ from Perth Western Australia
Who else noticed the zelda music? 👀 Very good artwort! I am still learning on how to use watercolour but this video really motivated me to try some more, bc these seacreatures look amazing! :)
WOW, you may not remember me (or recognise my name) but we went to college and uni together and I very rarely comment on youtube but, I had to say how proud I am of you! I wasn't subbed to you yet (I certainly am now) but youtube put you on my homepage, I see you are a free-lance illustrator now? so so happy for you, out of us all I knew you would be the one to make it in the industry. Well done for not letting your passion and dreams die, I say it again, Im very proud to see what you have made of yourself
The painting you did at the end changed my mind about these. Beautiful! I saw another artist review these but her painting was too simple to do them justice. They are very interesting.
The scans of the paint swatches are wild looking! So cool! From the swatches the aurora orange was my favorite, like an oxidizing penny, i also feel like it had the most contrast in colors, and I adore the paintings you did, have you tried them on other paper yet? :)
You are very talented, and your skill really lends itself well to the Kuretake granulators. Oh, and by the way, loving your music choices - Zelda for the win🤗!

Looks like a copper patina they're very pretty.
I thought that... I feel like this particular shade would makes some amazing steampunk style paintings.
Came her to say the same thing - they should have named the colour copper verdigris
it really does look like verdigris!
I’ve NEVER heard of these types of paints before. I am FLOORED at how the final product came out!
Thank you!
This is the best demo of these paints i have seen so far
Thank you!

The dried, end-result reminds me so much of a bronze patina.

Thank you, glad it was informative I know they will not be for everyone😀
It’s just a sneaky price rise.
It’s actually baffling they’re marketing the empty pan as a bonus 😂
