I grew up 20 minutes away from New Orleans and lived in New Orleans for a few years during college. I can confidently say that Guys has the best roast beef po boy I have eaten in my 32 years of life. 15 out of 10!
@@PDudley They are always neck in neck as which is rated the best roast beef each year. Parkway Bakery is another many like but I find their roast beef a bit bland. Tracy's has good ones when they are consistent but they haven't been consistent these days.
@@NOLAGent1 I’ve heard of Parkway but I haven’t tried that either lol. I need to drive down there one weekend soon and try one of the spots you mentioned
Guys will always have a special spot in my heart for me though. I love the fact that it’s so small and if you didn’t know you wouldn’t know. Ya know? Lol
Both po'boys looked delicious!! The roast beef seemed overstuffed to me but not so much with the shrimp one. I could just look at them and tell the flavors were great from each one. Give me some of that LOL. Thanks for another review, NOLA Gent. 😊😊👍👍👍👍
Favorite at Guy's or in general? Some hamburger poboys can be good. Duck poboy at Crabby Jack's is awesome! Vietnamese Banh Mi are great with beef and chicken. We used to have Crazy Johnny's that did awesome steak poboys but they are gone now. A blackened shrimp poboy is awesome but hard to find. Other than that it is all seafood and roast beef for the most part.
@@dotsyjmaher Seafood and especially oysters have gotten very expensive so to eat local seafood has gotten a lot more expensive but you don't want the imported alternative.
Had the roast beef when I was in town last time and it was really good. I didn't notice the difference in a large and a small only being a few dollars I wish I would went with large and ate it at home later. Good stuff.
That price difference seems to be the case with most poboy joints as getting essentially double the sandwich is just a few dollars more which has never made much pricing sense to me but it ensures I always get a whole instead of a half which has also helped my belly grow a bit while doubling my eating enjoyment 😀
How's Joey K's Restaurant doing? I was offered co Ownership back in the 80s but declined because you have to be married to a full service restaurant. No days off.
Under new ownership now. They have changed up the menu quite a bit with the daily specials. I'm sad they removed the lamb shank and rueben. It seems less crowded on average than it used to be but there have been lines of people waiting to get in during the holidays so far. Liuzza's also sold to new owners and they have sporadic hours now and it seems hard to find them open these days.

One of the best sandwich restaurants
They have a lot of great options!
I began eating at Guy’s as a high school student at Xavier Prep down the street. Let’s just say: They have not let me down yet! Delicious always!🔥🔥
Always a great choice! Thanks for watching 👍

Have you tried the Bear's at Gennaro's or the one at R&O's before?
No I haven’t. I’m in Gonzales now so I’m not in the city too often these days. How do they compare to guys?

Shrimp was a bit lighter on the protein. Nice poboys overall most would say. Thanks for watching 👍
Like the way you go over the menu showing each item and pronucing it correctly. What is your favorite Po Boy not including seafood or roast beef??

Guy's looks good but a bit pricey
Everywhere seems to be getting pricey these days!
A GOOD poboy is worth EVERY PENNY

Prices have doubled since I lived in NOLA. Do they think people are rich
It seems to have gotten way more expensive most places.
