One nice book that helped me a lot in my traveling to New Orleans was "Exploring New Orleans Like A Native" by Brandy Cole, I got that superb book on Amazon. I would have been lost without that book Thanks to that dude❤
Its not about glorifying it. It's important to keep these places around to visit so people learn from history. It's much different to visit than read about in a history book. Same with concentration camps in Germany- survivors actually wanted the camps to be preserved for visitors because they didn't want anyone to forget and for history to repeat itself. @@miarobinson968
@@miarobinson968it’s literal history. Even if you don’t like it, slavery played a part in shaping the region, the resilience of the people there and the current culture. Personally, I love the plantations that have kept the actual history intact. The slave houses, blacksmith shops and slave kitchens have the visual ability to show people alive today, who have never been or owned a slave, what life was really like then. It’s a visual of what they went through. Why would you deny people to see that? It’s living history. It tells the story in a way pictures in a book never could.
@@hardtogetnamehere There’s a difference between respecting history and glorifying the past. Have you ever heard of a wedding happening at Auschwitz’s?? No, because German culture doesn’t glorify their shameful past the way Americans do.
The French Quarter is heavily patrolled by police and has a strong tourist presence, making it relatively safe. However, be cautious in less crowded areas, especially late at night. Central Business District is another popular area for tourists, with many hotels and restaurants. It's generally safe, especially during the day when there are more people around. My personal favorite hotel is The Monteleone Hotel located in the heart of the French Quarter, love to visit the famous Carousel Bar after a day around town. My second pick would be the Hyatt Regency in the Business District right next to the Superdome.
For those who have visited New Orleans multiple times, what keeps you coming back? Any hidden gems or favorite spots that you always make sure to revisit?
The entire area is so charming. I go every few months . The vibe of the city keeps me returning. It is like a second home in a so comfortable in. Do my normal /favorite things and mix in something new every trip

I’m not paying to go to a plantation…. The rest is dope though
Totally get it, skip the plantation and enjoy the rest!
My exact thought… it’s crazy that people still glorify these places. But they want US to forget 🙄

Being a baseball fan and from Louisiana, this is something I’d love to see!
Thank you
The reason I'm watching this is because of Alastor (Hazbin Hotel). I heard and read that one of my favorite character is from New Orleans.

Although it’s not exactly a hidden gem, Mothers Restaurant is my favorite place to grab a Po boy. The Famous Ferdi Special is the way to go!
So glad you enjoy Mothers Restaurant too! The Ferdi Special is truly a gem.

It’s okay….
Eat, watch your back, and leave.
You butchered soooo many words.
Esplanawday? Cali-ohp? These pronunciations 😂😂😂
"Cafe au late" (drives me crazy!! It's so easy to research pronunciations 🙄😃)
Sure, mention The Commander's Palace but not say anything about the dress code or that a reservation is needed.
I love New Orleans. I have visited over 20 times (all for fun ,not work )
Pretty good video , but MANY mispronunciations of names and words
