  • Ryan was fortunate. With his last 28ft tiny house on wheels he managed to pull it just out of the way of the wildfires which swept through California in 2017. That experience really got him thinking about the design of his home though and he decided to build something more compact which was more easily moved.

His first tiny house on wheels was an absolute dream. You can see a full video tour of that home here: • Exquisitely Handcrafte...
It's quite common for people to build smaller when they construct a second tiny house. The smaller the home, the easier they are to tow and the easier they are to find parking spaces for.

Just like his first tiny house on wheels, this one is exceptionally well constructed. Every inch of this home is a celebration of craftsmanship and sustainable sourcing of materials, making this build a true artesian eco tiny home.

@@da324 Not clever, literal. Materialism is the love and conscious use of material. If you have an old, classic sweater that you love to use and feel, that is the enjoyment of material. If you own a guitar and love the feeling of the wood and the excellence of its design, that is being a materialist. If you buy a Gucci bag because of the status that you think you will gain, status which is purely abstract, that is fake materialism. That seems to be what is often said to be materialism, but it is not. It is a common misconception. In other words, these tiny house owners are TRUE materialists. They enjoy the material for what it IS, not for what it represents. Peace and Love from Los Angeles.

As for Tiny Houses and escaping disasters, I hope we don't get too many on the road. In a raging wildfire, I would not want to see them jackknifed and blocking cars on a narrow road.
I'm not going to say anything about his loft window being too small to escape from in case of a kitchen fire.
Actually, if I needed something built and lived near him, I would contact him. Overall, his place looks great. He even included an exterior light over the hitch area, and his design has character. I love the port hole window.

This is so apropos with the tragic fires still burning here in California 💔 i really hope that California learns from this and green lights more tiny homes as a good solution for rebuilding more disaster resistant communities. It’s a double edged sword though, because part of why these fires started in the first place is more human interface in rural wooded areas full of “fuel”- so it really underscores the need to legalize, AND regulate tiny home building, so people can implement this solution, and also to keep tiny homes safe with good standards to build to.

I'm going through a similar situation in the downsizing from an already tiny house. I live in a 26' converted school bus and I find it to be too big for my needs. I do NOT like driving the bus, so the mobility aspect is really only to be able to move it to another semi-permanent location, where I would like to be able to move my home comfortably on a more regular basis if so desired. I have been really looking into 13' Scamps and other fiberglass campers of that size so that it is light enough to pull with my 4 cylinder 4Runner. In the meantime, I have converted my 4Runner into a micro dwelling for car-camping out in the National Forests and BLM. Great video Bryce, I really love his home.

@@livingbig Agreed. The length of mine isn't so bad, as much as the width. Being 8' wide (without counting the mirrors!), it can be nerve wracking to drive in anything but oversized lanes. Mine is on a box truck chassis, but I think if it was the Econoline or similar van chassis, it wouldn't be as bad.

A copy of the old Handmade Houses! One of my faves, still have a first printing copy. It got me going! That, and remembering old Gypsy wagons from my country childhood. Love this little cabin.

I just watched the first video 2 days ago so it is very fresh in my mind. The new one looks great. And being able to take it the beach in the summer is awesome. I really like the light pine choice with the darker trim. It keep it looking brighter. Nice job Ryan. And good luck with any other fires.
