Love the timestamps. Been making the hot pads, makes it so nice to go back and rewatch the parts that I can’t remember. This looks amazing! Love the prairie points.
I bought a couple of these kits from Shabby Fabrics last year and was too nervous to try it once I saw the pattern…but after today Miss Jen, you explained it in such detail I think I’m ready to tackle it. Thanks for taking the time on the demo. Merry Christmas to the Shabby Fabrics Crew and their families. Cheers to a fantastic 2024! 🤗🤗🤗
That is great to hear! Happy that we can help you. Glad that you enjoyed the tutorial and we appreciate your support and comment! Merry Christmas to you and happy new year! 😊🎄✨ - Abby
My condolences to Bethany on the loss of her dear mother. I met Deborah at Road to California some years ago. She had a demo table in one of the booths, maybe it was Copper Mountain Quilting. I spent a good amount of time talking to her - I could tell that she was “my people.” When someone creates a tool that will give me an accurate result without making me crazy in the process … I’m theirs. I respect and admire people who see a better way and invest the time to bring it to fruition. There I was with the creator of the tool right in front of me which was a wonderful bonus. I think I was there going on 30 minutes watching the demo and then chatting. It was several years ago, but I clearly remember her enthusiasm and kind manner. Bethany, I can see you have your mother’s eye for questioning and improving a process. It’s a wonderful gift that I hope brings you joy and evokes good memories of your talented mom. Warm regards, Sara
Hi Sara - Your heartfelt message is truly touching. Thank you for sharing your wonderful memories of Deborah with us - it is a beautiful tribute to her memory. Your empathy & compassion shine through your message, and we're certain that it means a great deal to Bethany and the Millers. -Michelle
It is up to you! You can make it bigger just make sure that your measurements are correct. You got this and happy that you like this project! Thanks for your comment! 💙 - Abby
I got my kaleidoscope pattern and the fabric is so very nice, I will try making this, thank you for the lovely video you have to go with this pattern, my? is, should the material be washed before starting to cut the fabric? thank you.
This is a great project! You will have fun and happy that you enjoyed this tutorial! It is up to you if you want to wash your fabric first. We don't but if you do, wash it on a gentle cycle. Thanks for your support and comment! - Abby
Hi Linda -We're so glad it inspires you! You would not use the monopoly thread in the bobbin - use your regular thread for that as the monopoly doesn't work well in the bobbin. Hope this helps :) -Michelle
I LOVE PlumEasy patterns; I was wondering, even though it’s an older one, would you please either make a tutorial for their Kaleidoscope Centerpiece Folded Star Table Topper? I bought it 2-3 yrs ago; I thought there was a tutorial on the SF website, but I cannot find it. I have the pack, and refills but each time I look at it , I don’t know what it is, but starting the center confuses me. Thank you so much!
Hi Madison - We haven't made a tutorial for the PlumEasy Kaleidoscope Centerpiece, but you'll just start the center like a normal Folded Star Hot Pad with a fabrics square down first, then 4 prairie points (you'll trim the corners on just this layer). After that row, your prairie points will overlap when you place them down. Hope this helps :) -Michelle
Could I use a very thin interfacing instead of sizing on the fabric strips before cutting out the center pieces? I also sew clothing and costumes and was wondering if I could use some of my interfacing off cuts up this way to make gifts.
Enjoyed watching you make this. Heard you mention that Deborah is now in heaven with Jesus. So sorry to hear that she has left the earthly world, but I am sure she is sewing with the angels. Could not find any obituary for her, so had no idea when it happpened. :(

Love this, is Shabby Fabrics in Idaho?

@@ShabbyFabrics Thank you! Since I also have the plastic template, I’ll try with a hot pad first. TY!
That sounds like a great plan! -Michelle

Hi Kathleen - You probably can use interfacing instead of sizing on this project. Thanks so much for watching! -Michelle
When you are using the MonoPoly thread, do you also use it as your bobbin thread?
MonoPoly does not work well in the bobbin. Use your "regular" thread. - Abby
Beautiful pattern, can you make a square one like this?
Hi jrussell3283 - You sure can - you'll just need to maybe add some more prairie points & trim it as a square. Hope this helps :) -Michelle
We called the toy you looked through a Kaleidoscope.
The pattern on this project is like the kaleidoscope toy. Happy that you like this project! Thanks for your comment! - Abby
Do you have monopoly thread in the bobbin too or just the top thread?
Monopoly thread does not work well in the bobbin so use your regular thread. - Abby
It was a Kaleidoscope
Thank you so much! I was thinking that was the name but thought that might have been a dream! Thanks for leaving a comment. XO Jen
