  • In today's video... I take you through the process start to finish of a QAYG (Quilt as you go) table runner. Its a fun way to use up scraps or blocks or any string scraps or whatever you have. Its very easy to do. I am all over the place as always in this video. However you are watching most of it in real time as I make this fun little table runner.

    Absolutely gorgeous. I feel that pressing as you go along makes for a finer finish. Especially when gift giving and selling your items. I know personally I would not buy something that looks scruffy. Thank you for your tutorial, you are a great inspiration to me, I have had no training at all using a sewing machine I have only watched people sewing taking notes and now RUclips videos that I have learned the fab art of quilting and other sewing patterns and techniques ❤

    I did a Halloween table runner like this. In the middle of the runner I pieced a square (18x18”) block that I machine embroidered “Happy Halloween” using an embroidery pattern, then placed the strips on both sides of that square. I think mine was probably more like 70” long though, because I have a longer table where I used it. So fun to use up those random left over scraps and make something fun. Thanks for sharing your great idea!

    I love your table runner. On a QAYG project with mirror design you can find the center and work your way out in both directions. Then any excess will be evenly divided on each side and you can add more strips to each continuing the mirror design. Thank you for a fantastic gift idea.

    Love this runner! I usually sew the binding onto the front side, then hand stitch it down on the back side, but stitching it the way you did would be a lot sturdier for something like a baby quilt or a table runner that will get laundered a lot more often than a large quilt. Thank you!

    • @TiffanysQuiltingLife

    Another ''beaut'' ....and BTW...the background music you use for the ''quick thru'' part is really nice....l usually can't stand the ''edgy'' music that others use. So, just one more reason why your videos are so enjoyable. 💟 Also,,,,l am a bit of a ''mad scientist'' both in the kitchen and the sewing machine....so l like your ''as you go along'' style. 💟

      I used 11 of the scrap jelly roll strips and I had 1 remaining half of a strip left. So in total 22 half strips, but I used the scraps to do the pieced pieces and that would make 24- ¹/² strips if you don't do a pieced unit on it. I used a 2.4 stitch length to piece it and a 3.0 to bind it.

    Hi Tiffany. I just purchased a Juki TL2010 Q and love it. I am finding that when I use my scissor button or my front foot pedal cutter my needle becomes I threaded lots of times. Do you find this to happen?

    • @TiffanysQuiltingLife
      @TiffanysQuiltingLife  10 месяцев назад +1

      It happens if you start off too fast, or when you run your project across the front of your machine and it hits the needle and pulls the thread out. Happens often to me. You would think I am use to it. But when I am rushing it always happens.
