    My dad was a huge fan of Kelloggs Cornflakes and when mom started shopping at Aldi, she would buy Harvest Morn Cornflakes. To fool my dad, mom would put the bag of Aldi cornflakes into the Kelloggs box and would recycle the Aldi box - after dad got used to the taste she got rid of the Kelloggs box and just had the Aldi box in the cupboard. The look on dad's face was priceless when mom told him that he had been eating Aldi cornflakes for the prevous 4 months lol.

    • @arthurvasey
      @arthurvasey 2 года назад +2

      @@rockinrachel1670 Most other supermarket brand cornflakeses are gross, anyway - more so if you put powdered milk on them, like I had to do living with my family - I wasn’t allowed to do my own breakfast - every day, supermarket cornflakeses with powdered milk on them, which my sister refused to make in accordance with the instructions on the tin - a couple of teaspoonfuls of milk powder to two pints of water, is how she made it - the actual amount should have been about six tablespoonfuls of milk powder to one pint of water - but my sister thought that it was too expensive that way!
      We did buy proper milk - semi-skimmed - there was, at the time, 1p difference between skimmed and semi-skimmed and another 1p difference between semi-skimmed and proper milk - that was the only concession that was made between the lack of flavour in the skimmed and the “expensiveness” of proper milk - that went into hot beverages - I drink my tea and coffee black, so I never benefited from it!
      Compare Kellogg’s cornflakeses with something like Asda’s or Sainsbury’s or Tesco’s or maybe Morrison’s!

      All bran ... a product that the manufacturers thought . what can we do with this waste product? ... Let's market it as a health cereal to the punters.
      Stated with wit in mind ... trying not to be too serious.
      Wheat bran is useful as feed for poultry and other livestock, as part of a balanced ration with other inputs. Wheatings, a milling byproduct comprising mostly bran with some pieces of endosperm also left over, are included in this category.
      Bran was found to be the most successful slug deterrent by BBC's TV programme Gardeners' World. It is a common substrate and food source used for feeder insects, such as mealworms and waxworms. Wheat bran has also been used for tanning leather since at least the 16th century

    You mention about switching to blue top full cream milk, well three months ago I switched to blue top and I have to say I have noticed two interesting differences, one... I use less milk in my tea, and two..... blue top will last considerably longer than semi-skimmed, semi-skimmed would very rarely go beyond the sell by date, whereas I have noticed blue top will go 4 or even 5 days beyond the sell by date as a norm, I even had one bottle that went 7 days and was fine ! that would never happen with green top, well not in my experience anyway !

It’s just crazy how much people are being overcharged, as we keep saying . . . ‘What’s in a label?’. Cornflakes in bowl, sprinkle with sugar, add milk, allow cornflakes to get soggy, consume! Keep this excellent work up pal, invaluable.

    I’ve tried all the own brand cereal and I have to buy Kelloggs as they are far nicer. I always think the other cereals taste stale. Anyway I’m thinking is kelloggs nicer because there is more sugar and salt. The porridge oats, weetabix and Hot oak cereal which is the same as Ready Brekvi don’t see any difference and half the price so I do buy it. Also the stores own brand of porridge ready pots are fine as well 45p verses £1.20 for the branded porridge pots. Anyway love your reviews .

    I’ve had Kellogg’s crunchy nut cornflakes for years until I tried Aldi’s crunchy nut flakes and I’ve had them ever since, as you say there is a very small taste difference for the branded product, at the end of the day it’s all down to price, and you can save quite a lot of money by not buying branded and quite honestly most people don’t know the difference. We also buy Aldi’s weetabix again no difference. I like. Your videos they are very informing, keep up the good work, all the best. To you and your family

    Not sure if you are aware, when you look at the list of ingredients on products. They are listed in the order of quantity. So if sugar is first on the list, that means that there is more sugar than other ingredients. So if you compare the ingredients of the two boxes you can see different quantities.

    When I was a kid I stayed at my grandma’s when she was on a diet. For breakfast she gave me some Special K, with “steri” (UHT, which was warm) and sprinkled some artificial sweetener on them. I can still remember how much I gagged on that to this day. PS, my missus worked in a development kitchen for a firm that made stuff for supermarkets, they spend a fortune getting their own brands right. We don’t buy any brands in our house. Save your money.

    A lot of people are moaning about food costs going up about £5 a week. If they are not buying store brand from Aldi, Asda or Lidl, they should start. Will soon save at least a fiver and discover that the “generic” versions are as good as, if not better than, name brands. Thanks to this channel for proving this point. Glad I found you.

      No point in check the carb content of cereal ... it's 100% carb .. just a question of how much sugars within the body... and that will always be high. If you're avoiding sugar (eg diabetes.. or excess weight gain due to poor insulin).. cereal is bad news and always has been. Probably why there's so much of it on the shelves. This vid demonstrates the profit margin in it.. same stuff but 3 times more expensive.
