    nice review - hit on a lot more than many. I have grown to like the dial shifter and have electric shift on the fly 4wd so no levers ad it clears up some space. I also have the same scree and prefer it for the reasons you stated with the buttons not making me use the touch scree for everything. It rides really nice and is super capable. The engine ad trans on these new wagons is very nice

    I'm a RAM FANATIC. I don't discriminate from the 1500-5500, basically like the pros of each trim level.
    Surprisingly, my first RAM 2500 search was for a power wagon. I mainly wanted it for the front bumper with winch combo. I was all onboard until I found out that the name "power wagon" doesn't include "payload power" or "towing capacity power" for a 2500 series truck. I personally need a fully functional RAM in every way for a unknown future.
    I wish RAM would have made every edition in every series level, from the 1500 and up.
    That really hurt my search for my future RAM truck. 😕
    I'm not a off-road type guy. I don't see the point and I pay too much in taxes for road construction to go off-road ever. 😂
    You the man JB!!!!
    Keep the reviews rolling.

    I believe the reason for 33" tires is clearance for tire chains. 37" tires fit with the right wheel offset. Doesn't really have anything to do with articulation. Also the different radius arms have an extra joint on one side to allow more articulation, I don't believe they allow any more clearance for tires.

    • @wirebrush
      @wirebrush Год назад

      @Howard If that was the case they'd put something like BFG ATKO2s on them instead of the Goodyear's which are terrible for fuel mileage. Also, it's hard to believe that only a 36" tire will fit, but chains have enough clearance with 35" tires. You really think 1/2" in all the room chains need?

  • @hellkitty1014
    @hellkitty1014 2 года назад +4

    POWERWAGON DONT CARE! LOL! It is still without peer, and yes that includes the Ford Tremor. I agree JB, they're pretty tough find, even more so nowadays with the truck supply crunch. I only wish Ram would offer at least 35s from the factory. Guys in our area run 37s without touching a thing. But the PW is all about max articulation and those tires would reduce that.
    And lastly, yes we'd all love to see what a PW can do with a Cummins under the hood, but that would reduce payload down considerably, likely make for a worse ride and handling(surprisingly good for such a big trick), and be damn expensive(this particular truck would be $84K with the L.O.Cummins). I tell people all of the time not to sleep on the 6.4/8HP.

    • @JB_WhoWork
      @JB_WhoWork  2 года назад

      Yes sir!!! Wow, I bet that different radius arm allows for that taller tire! The upcoming HD Rebel will most likely will fill the gap in the RAM segment to really compete with the tremor/AT4 competitors 👍🏾

      @hellkitty1014 2 года назад

      @@JB_WhoWork yep! The PW is too hardcore for most plus many guys do want to safely tow their travel trailers and other things above what the PW is able to. The Rebel HD will aide with that considerably! The diesel will finally allow it to truly compete with the Tremor and AT4.*fingers crossed we get some Ram HD news at the NYIAS this week*

    • @cliffchance347
      @cliffchance347 2 года назад

      Well think one of the reasons for not having a Cummings is it’s a heavier engine and if hardcore 4 wheeling at slow speeds emissions will be a problem like I had with my ram didn’t do well with more city driving than highway speeds and main reason I won the lemon law emissions.

    JB those Good years are garbage and so are the Billsteins . put it on 35s with fox 2.0 and it is quite the transformation is terms of ride. I have the olive pearl green . I put a Thuren front level kit, fox 2.0 with reservoirs . Thuren rear track Bar to eliminate trailer wag ,with race line wheels and Toyo 12.50 37s. with rear airbags in daystar cups to pull a full 3/4 ton load and trailering. and the snap AEV for speedo recalibration and run lower air pressure. ride is day and night difference awesome truck.
    be careful on wheel selection offset is crucial to avoid rubbing with big tires. but you can go all the way to 37s

    If you can get the PW for MSRP that’s a deal as that PW has been sitting lol. I know because my MSRP is 2,500 higher and I took delivery last month. I hate the steering but I am getting use to it. After driving a TRX with tight steering I feel uncomfortable with the loose steering. Needs a better stabilizer bar. I am shocked how nice it is to drive though and how quick it is for a heavy truck. I needed to replace my old truck and something that can tow better then a 1500 but had the offroad capability. The trx has too soft suspension to pull 7,500 pounds. My gas mileage is poor lol as I drive in V8 only but it eliminated the hesitation and hopefully the lifter failure later on. I like the fact that the 2022’s are rare due to the parts shortage. If I towing a lot or heavier the 8,500 to 9,000 I would get a different truck. Most of the PW are level 3 but you can’t get the mechanical 4wd so that’s the only reason why I got level 2 instead of 3. If you want bucket seats the level 3 is a better deal.

    I find it very interesting that it is so difficult to get the towing tech package on most 2500's, but this package is on a lot of Power Wagons. Considering that the power wagons have substantially lower payloads than most of the 2500's even without the diesel, why do they load them up with the towing tech package. I was seriously considering a power wagon that checked every box on my wish list...and in particular the towing tech, and then I looked it up on the Ram VIN based towing capacity web page and it had a 1500 lb payload? What? my 2021 1500 had like a 1350 payload and pulling a 7K 800 lb tongue weight (loaded) 28 foot travel trailer with my wife and dogs in the truck put me right at my capacity with nothing in the bed.
    I'm looking at a relatively small fifth wheel that has a 1250 pin weight and boom, not happening unless I go alone camping. So, I'm scratching my head over this. What is with the towing tech, so hard to get on other trim levels, consistently on many Power Wagons? Now, yes, based upon vids, the payload limitations do NOT appear to be an issue and there are quite a few videos of people towing loads like the fifth wheel I'm looking at with no problem with Power Wagons...but you will be technically illegal and there must be a reason they are so low, yes, I have read the whys so don't go there...
    So, I got a Laramie 6.4 Hemi with a 3K payload. Actually I had the towing tech on my 21 1500 and found myself not even using it for the most part... So, I'm good... I do miss the multi-function tailgate, ramboxes and utility package/spray in bedliner though but there are after market work arounds for those...

      Its the suspension set up on Power Wagons. They are not tow trucks. There is not a Heavy Duty on the market, that can go where a Power Wagon can go, from the factory. If you are towing, a Power Wagon is not for you.

Look at all the reports, chat sites, message boards, groups, etc. and still Ram remains quiet and don't even put out a bulletin. So be prepared to have at a minimum $4K set aside, and $10K if it cause a total engine failure.
