OMG Caitlin! In the last 7 months, I had surgery for an unruptured brain aneurysm, a mini stroke and now have cancer. At age 74, after a life of NO health issues, I have just recently realized that for the last 40 some years, I have been living in stress exactly the way you describe. I didn’t know how to get out of it when I found you. I’ve always lead an exceptionally healthy, active lifestyle allowing me to accomplish some truly unbelievable things and never realized that I was addicted to stress to begin with. While I’ll always remain proud of my accomplishments, I know longer wish to be known as the energizer bunny. Thank you so much for sharing Caitlin!!

Thank you for taking the time to share this with me, I love it! No need to be the energizer bunny or able to "accomplish all the things." Maybe no identity moving forward! 😎

Hope you get better soon!! Did you talk to doc as to if change in the stress reduction can improve the cancer?
-I'm 26 but i relate, been trying to get out of stress addiction since 14+ years ago and while i realized it and that stress and lack of sleep contributes to cancer i had no clue where to start but this book, videos and a lot more are helping slowly.

I grew up in NYC so cortisol was pretty much my norm for 10 years...curse of the hustle culture. I didnt even realize it. People would ask me- why do you have so much energy with so little sleep? I understand now that it wasnt real energy. It was just cortisol pumping me up. I love doing things. Anything. Even now I have to force myself to go to bed. I can be very sleepy but I never actually want to go to bed. Its almost like I want the day to be 35 hours long instead of 24.
I am beginning to control this now. I am way less productive now...but thats a small price to pay if I get to live longer.
Continuously being in fight or flight is terrible for the body. I listen to my body a lot more these days.
    Great video.

Thank you for sharing. Inspiration for all of us to give up the productivity game and listen to our bodies!

That makes so much sense to me Thank yu ! I can see how I lived my adult life like this and ended up chronically ill. Its our societal conditioning to be go go go achieve achieve achieve and no rest and relax except for our 3 weeks off work per year. It is also easy to altho be resting and meditating to actually be in our thoughts and still stressing out ++ in our heads.

Cortisol junky?? maybe. How many other people can miss a whole nights sleep(being hyped up) and work the whole day and never miss a beat??

And then what happens when they go home? For me, somewhere, something had to give eventually. And that was often a big mess to clean up after the fact. 🙏

You're welcome! I think our society still loves the hamster wheel and it is taking time to grow up past that stage. 😊Please check out the rest of my RUclips channel - I talk about this a lot throughout my videos!

When I have a bit of time to breathe, I just don't do anything to give myself some wiggle room later on. I guess I'm addicted to stress-doing...

Great awareness! Journaling question - why don't you want to give yourself wiggle room? 💕
