Could not agree more. “Slow and steady wins the race”. I have always liked the idea of slow growing a business because it is usually more resilient. Really that goes for any business.
I've been thinking of breeding Boa Constrictors for the longest time. Soon enough I plan on getting two, a Motley (Columbian) - Het Leopard and a Leopard. Always have been drawn towards the iridescent morphs and I can't wait to start. The Eclipse morphs are one of my favorites and the way I see it, its a Poor Man's IMG.
Probably the most honest advice I’ve ever received in this hobby. I remember watching another video you put up similar to this one a long time ago. I followed that advice and didn’t drain my bank account on my initial investments. Although I’m still getting started, after a few clutch’s my collection is growing nicely! Thanks for staying humble👊🏻
Funny. My collection is well rounded. Half Locality. The rest a good mix of Low end morphs. High end morphs. And my female that would be the first to breed makes 5-7k animals. I don’t want her to be my first litter lol. It’s just random luck that she’s the closest to ready. But I don’t want to be the noob selling 5k animals lol. I’ve already been asked when will some be ready. I just don’t want to do it. I agree with your advice here for sure.
It’s great you have requests to purchase. If you have the buyers and you know they are healthy then no reason you shouldn’t sell them unless you plan to hold back.
I'm surprised you didn't talk about locality stuff. That's what I wanna focus on with boas at least. Pure locality morphs etc. Regardless, awesome vid man.
Dude YT wasn't showing me your vids! Missed your last 3 vids. I want to breed boas but given how long it'll take I think I'll breed some BPs and Colubrids too while I grow up some stuff. Pure Sonorans are my first go to! Thanks for your vids man.
Thanks, Jason. I am literally at that beginning stage where I need to get some good animals like you are talking about. Up til now I just bought what I liked, thinking I'll just breed Dumerils and some locality stuff. I've got some Dumerils and a few BCI, but I need pairings not singles..
I don’t think you can go wrong with dumerils but they are a little more difficult to get breeding. They need to be a little older and take longer to drop babies b
YES love for leopard boas! They're my favorite morph! That's the base I am going to try to work with- my snakes are finally starting to come of solid age.
Well done ,,,,, Man u is the bomb ,,, I do appreciate your knowledge and help ,,, This was right on ,,,,," Getting the foundation going before the explosion "
Excellent video. Glad someone is actually stating the facts instead of the youtubers that put the $$$ signs in their videos which is misleading. Start out small, do what you love, and see if it grows.
Hey Jason I love your awesome videos man and you have beautiful boa’s man and always good advice Jason sorry I haven’t commented and not watch your videos in a while man hope you and your family are doing well and safe 🤜🇬🇧🇺🇸🤛
Yes!! I'm doing exactly that..working with my bread and butter morphs...I have ideas too but things take time. Your leopard looks beautiful by the way.
Exactly my view, reason why I have both high end and low end morphs (also because I just love boas). I would also advise to breed with logic, e.g. normal x normal (ones without interesting hets or I`ve even seen people breeding pet shop-bought normal BCIs with no genetic info). I also go by the rule that I don`t breed what I am new to e.g. I have also bloods (P. brongersmai) but I won`t jump into it unless I have years of experience I can pass on to customers if help is needed later on. For me, love for boas comes first (all are equal pets no matter if normal of IMG motley), breeding comes second.
Thank you! I even took notes. Lol I'm just getting started and appreciate hearing that I'm on the right track with simple morphs that I like. New goal for someday is to have my pythons earn me a leopard boa. What an exquisite animal! I'm thoroughly enjoying my 'online classes' with you, Professor Jason.
Excellent advice, and very helpful to me personally as a newer breeder. Also, on your advice.. I finally got myself a Hypo Motley, Jungle in fact. Keep up the great work man. And at 4am.. that's dedication lol.
Awesome video Jason! Always a pleasure watching your content and i could probably talk on behalf of most of us when I say I wish you’d drop more on the regular. Videos like these get me motivated and amped up. Thank you for dropping some knowledge. Another 💎 video. 🔥🔥🔥
I have a motley het kahl albino het blood thinking about getting a khal albino female or blood female just to see what I get. I would hope to get some motley albinos and motley bloods I think that would be pretty cool
I agree with everything in the video to the point that it's almost like you're talking directly to me LOL But I do have to strongly disagree with one thing. You said there is nothing wrong with Kia.... and as someone who delivers replacement parts to local Kia dealerships, I have determined that's a lie 😆. No other brand seems to need more engines and Transmissions replaced than Kia... might be better off actually getting the Rolls-Royce from the Kia dealership 🤣
Thanks Jason. I really appreciate your videos. I had a Burmese Python years ago I got married and the wife wanted me to get rid of it we started a family, now that my child is grown I wanted to get back into snakes I did my research and bought a Dumerils boa I really liked their look and size and temperament. I have had her for three weeks and I try to handle her every day except for the day she eats (she is a good eater F/T) and the day after. My question is why is she nippy some days and some days she is chilled and relaxed? Will she grow out of this? Down the road I would love to get into breeding her, do you think breeding Dumerils is a good idea? They are so hard to find. Thanks for your videos they are very informative. I can't believe how the snake industry has grown when I had my Burmese 30 years ago info was hard to find. Please keep up the videos they really help out newbies like me.
Thank you! The change in temperament could be anything from temperature changes to some days being more nervous than others. They will grow out of this. I think breeding is a personal decision. You do risk the snake if you do so I always tell people that if it is your pet, do not breed them since they could die in the process.
Thank you for replying and the advice. I will leave the breeding to the professionals. I would not want to risk her I am attached to here already. I love your leopard boa, definitely would love to buy one from you in the future. My wife really has no interest in snakes she started watching your videos and they have her interest perked. You have great info. Thank you.
Good advice. I'm in my first year gotta couple balls that I've paired and hopefully my female will go for me. I believe she just had her pre lay shed. And I've got a breeding pair of guyana's I've been pairing.i just can't find much content on true red tail locality breeding other than someone saying it's harder than bci. Any tips and tricks would be much appreciated
It’s the same as with Bci. People make a big deal out of it to feel special. It’s all the same in my opinion. They are certainly more rare, but the breeding is all the same. They are more rare because how many people have 40 guayana in their group vs 40 boa morphs.
@@JasonsExoticReptiles I appreciate it. Most videos I watch make it seem like you have to have top of the line elaborate setups with the works. Including ball pythons but my view is if the animals are healthy with Temps around what they should be and are comfortable then the boy and girl will do it like a Friday night after leaving the bar lol. It's just watching some videos that kinda put a thought into the mind that will discourage a person
And both of mine will be first time breeding. They are long term captive with my female being older. Does that really make a difference between a captive bred vs. a wild caught long term captive?
Jason. My hypo Columbian boa is almost 2 and today she was inside her big water bowl and I seen her twitch around d for like 2 seconds. And like 2 hours later it happened again. Is this normal ? She eats every weeks and is always clean , no mites
hey jason since you are a fan of leopard boas do you know if they are more aggresive than other morph or locality boas ?? I wanna buy one but I heard that they are really aggresive
Generally they are calmer in my experience. That said, every snake is unique. If temperament is important to you, always make sure to ask the breeder and avoid reptile shows. The shows are usually cold and event the most defensive snakes can be calm.
I am trying to pair up my dumerils boas, the male boa is in EXTREME sex mode. He has been courting her & they have locked up MANY times ever since last Sunday. She has never acted aggressive towards him this whole time. How long should I leave them together in the cage? Thanks!
cái hay của phúc đó giọng hất rất tình cảm , mỗi bài hát là bạn ấy thả hết tâm hồn và tình cảm vậy , và thể hết giống như mình đã từng trải nghiệm , i love you
I get what you’re saying but it’s no different with cheap morphs, if someone can buy it from a reputable breeder they’re going to. My suggestion starting out is to build up your reviews as soon as possible and make a morph market right away. That way your breeder profile has some age. Also in my experience people that have a silver or gold USARK badge seems less suspicious. Also breed high quality stuff to where if it doesn’t sell you don’t mind keeping it. A lot of this is relative to market strength.
Ok so didn't get notification. Well, would say check out what NERD does on twitch i stopped watching when they went off the rails a year ago. Well my penny worth.
