@literally not z 😅😅😅😅 I don't think the Detroit people knew the water was poisoned the only time they knew the water was poison when they were getting sick!
Our current governor is a gangster who doesn't even live in the city. Cleaning a river is far from his priorities. Slum dwellers overwhelmingly voted that person in too.

I only wish the reporter went further downstream, there is a sewer line running along the river and yet raw sewage is still channeled directly to the river. The problem is with unplanned development, not that the city does not have zoning rules but the corrupt city officials will bend every rule as long as you are going to bribe them with money.
I just wanna say thank you to all who is cleaning up the trash from rivers and lakes and oceans and etc etc. Mother earth will surely thank you guys and gals in the long run.
These guys should definitely contact The Ocean Cleanup, they have some pretty impressive equipment which could give them a huge hand in cleaning up the Nairobi rivers.
Good group, good citizens. The government doesn't send garbage trucks regularly, and half the population has no sewage system. I've seen videos like this of many developing nations, and the lack of waste management is always the source of the problem.
Am sad to report that the river is still as polluted as it was when this report came out. I wish it was a different outcome. Now we have people living on the wetlands and whenever it rains and floods people die. There is a plan ongoing for affordable social housing that is aimed at housing the people living in our slums.
I am shocked. Thank God for the people who are trying to clean the river. I wish the govt. would assist. I believe once the area is clean if you dump trash etc. you should be fined. The govt. could also send a truck weekly to assist the community and send to a dumping site (landfill) and either bury it or burn it and also recycle what they can. A lot of Africa problem also consist of pollution. No disrespect. No one wants to visit a country were it has sanitation problems etc. If they rethink these issues Africa can make plenty of money. Many people want to come but crime, cleanliness is a major problem.
Curiously the parts of it that are raw sewage begin where it flows near the CBD, through the industrial area and slums. Else the river is clean upstream.
why not get the city to dredge the river, fence it, relocate folks living right off the beach, put laws with teeth in place about dumping into the river, arrest a few people, jail a few, plants some shrubs around it etc?

The government should attach water filter systems. Maybe something that can treat the water to make the water drinkable. The collected garbage should be recycled. Probably not gonna happen but I hope it does.
Amazing! How does one teach the uneducated people to take charge of their neighbourhood? Give them employment so at least their bellies are full. Then they will think about their damn neighbourhood!
Looks like whoever owns that land and building those greenhouses dont give a damn about the people they are affecting. Why would they build knowing there was a bird sactuary right there? Wicked.
Most of the land in Kenya is owned by a dozen wealthy families, most with political connections (I think three of the top landowners are former presidents and their families) which explains both why the government does not care and it’s not getting fixed. The laws and landowners are working together to keep the rich and powerful from consequences while everyone else suffers.

You have to throw it somewhere if nobody collect a garbage. You want them to keep them around the house and inside the house? Burn it in the city and bad for you. It’s toxic
@@motherhoodsbeauty9279 people throw garbage where they make it. Empty a bag of candy throw it where you stand, in shops just out the door And right now they pile burn the trach the worst thing you can do.
These policies are very expensive only rich nations or nation with very small population have been able to succeed . Natural wetlands are best ways to reduce water pollution
i think it matters cause it shows the wish they have, even with no much means, to do good. it's not the same amount of courage/determination needed to clean with all materials/protections than with not much. this really shows dedication from them.

It is known that many European and other developed countries use certain countries in Africa, and southeast Asia as dumping ground for garbage.
