It’s great that people are making an effort to clean up our waterways and oceans. I only have one question. How are the disposing of the debris and pollution they collect?
Reading all the “feel good” comments on this post pretty much reveals people are living on false hope. We have already passed the tipping point and we have destroyed this planet. Even if every last man, woman, and child were removed from this planet, the effects of our own hubris will not only continue to pollute the planet, but will accelerate due the toxic industries lining our rivers and oceans. As these waterside industries deteriorate, the offal of their storage facilities will spill into the byways to the rivers and oceans. The refuse from the “great” cities will crumble into the artificial rivers of the streets. These machines do a great job but are not selective. Along with the floating inorganics be prepared to capture and process a large quantity and variety of aquatic life forms.
Plus it just creates a plastic doom loop, where does the plastic end up? Either in landfill leeching toxins into the environment or recycled back into more plastic junk that ends up in the rivers and oceans. The only way to stop plastic destroying our environment, rivers and oceans is to ban it outright.
Beyond belief. I must to confess that I've never seen anything like it. Thank God we've got these technologies to fight against the population pollutions. Thanks for sharing.
I think it is wonderful that these machines are available for the water clean up work however none of this would be needed if processing factories would return to paper type products that are biodegradable.
The world has multiple ways of recycling many different materials.. don’t blame factories for what is mostly moronic human behaviour regarding littering.
@@nasa1985 I never said I blamed factories. I was just stating that biodegradable containers would be better than plastics . Yes I do agree with you on the issue of littering. People are pigs in most cases. I know from cleaning up after them for 8 years. A trash can can be in front of their car but they will open the door and throw their rubbish out into the parking lot and drive away.
@@nasa1985 Plastic can only be recycled 2 or 3 times before it just ends up in landfill leeching toxins into the environment. Maybe you should go and educate yourself.
@@christinamoneyhan5688 It doesn't even come down to littering, even if people put their plastic into bins and didn't litter it would still end up in landfills leeching into the environment because plastic can only be recycled a couple of times. You are right, plastic should be banned outright and other biodegradable materials used instead.
Its very sad to see the plastic waste in our waters today when its us humans who make it up end there instead of recycling it or even just putting it into a bin,its not hard but good to see this new technology in helping to reduce it!!!❤🌍
I'm kind of curious, while a lot of the river filters are good in removing plastic, it just occurred to me it also stops a lot of natural plant matter & such, and I'm wondering if this will have any impact as I'm sure that plant matter is contributive to the eco system in some way as it breaks down & possibly feed micro organisms etc.
Thats a good point. There is obviously a danger that in trying to prevent pollution and protect the environment that indirectly you might be also creating problems.
@Anita M You realize how little of recyclable material is actually recycled? According to the EPA, of the 267.8 million tons of municipal solid waste generated by Americans in 2017, only 94.2 million tons were recycled or composted. Sixty-six percent of discarded paper and cardboard was recycled, 27 percent of glass, and 8 percent of plastics were recycled. It's enough to make you scream. That's why I said I wonder how they'll dispose of it, because they certainly aren't recycling it aside for a small percentage.
@@nasa1985 I agree! It's great to know you think that way. The problem is that here in Brazil they give more importance to partying. And politicians just want to steal. are not all but a large part.
This is amazing after some of the videos I’ve seen about trying to scare you. And at 1 dollar a day for that seabin tube we need more of those. And even the more expensive machine it’s huge so it probably get tons more trash in a day then the drainage tube looking seabin. We do need to start trying to use recycle more or use less plastics. But a lot of places Atleast where I’ve lived they want to charge you per pound to recycle... and it can get expensive. Then heard some people from Wisconsin tell me that it was mandatory where they lived to separate their trash and have a recycle bin and a trash bin and they will fine you if you don’t separate it. The world needs to get all on one page or Atleast in one direction where people have more information about the subject.

Looking at this makes me happy
So you've collected the junk from the river or ocean. Now what do you do with it?
I love these kind of videos, positive vibes.

You are the best go on and a head for clean oceans thanks
what happens to all the stuff you scoop and pick up --- to landfills? plastics recycling?
recycling OBVIOUSLY
HOW COOL IS THAT...THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU ARE DOING!!!
Its very sad to see the plastic waste in our waters today when its us humans who make it up end there instead of recycling it or even just putting it into a bin,its not hard but good to see this new technology in helping to reduce it!!!❤🌍
Microscopic plastic particles are now in the fish we eat! Time to remove all this trash and reduce use of plastics!
Excellent video , thanks
Keep up the good work in keeping our planet livable!!
I remember hearing about a student's prototype for one of these years ago, its good to see them operational and in use
Wow that's a great job them really appreciate them , greetings from Miami where are you from
I'm kind of curious, while a lot of the river filters are good in removing plastic, it just occurred to me it also stops a lot of natural plant matter & such, and I'm wondering if this will have any impact as I'm sure that plant matter is contributive to the eco system in some way as it breaks down & possibly feed micro organisms etc.
Thats a good point. There is obviously a danger that in trying to prevent pollution and protect the environment that indirectly you might be also creating problems.
Awesome ideas. I'd like to see how they dispose of the collected debris.
That's why I said I wonder how they'll dispose of it, because they certainly aren't recycling it aside for a small percentage.
very good you need more of these machines every where , at a moments notice should always have top piroty
here in Brazil in the capital of São Paulo on the Tietê River needed some of these machines. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🏆🏆🏆🏆
No..the city needs to shoot those who litter. 2 problems solved that way.
@@nasa1985 I agree! It's great to know you think that way. The problem is that here in Brazil they give more importance to partying. And politicians just want to steal. are not all but a large part.
Yeah brasil deserves machines like in Jakarta / in our india...
This type of machines need lot
Would be a better move to find alternatives to all plastics.
I'm happy someone is doing something for the oceans an the sea life. So thanks
God bless the people that made these cleaners!
Man it feels great to see these types of Videos... keep up the great work
Amei esta máquina. Precisamos de muitas, vamos salvar a Natureza, Gratidão.
i’ve become more and more interested in cleaning beaches/oceans, as i think it would be awesome to see some very nice, clean beaches in the future. let’s hope people are more careful and recycle more and in the future. as i’ve been watching these, i’ve felt as thought the world may become a better place. but now, i cannot predict the future but then again, these robots may be very successful. thanks for all the help, as these beaches are very dirty. THANKS AGAIN!!! 😀😁😆
#projectseas
That's Amazing!! Gives me hope for this planets future!! Thankyou!! I'm the grandmother of 19!!
Great video, I worked Albacore jig boats after the Navy , We would spend most of our time pulling in the jigs ,just to remove plastic bags , and that was the late 70's ! Great seeing trash removed from waterways !
Достатъчно е да гледаш тези кадри и да разбереш защо не трябва да да се заселване на друга жива планета ще постъпим по същия начин!
Yea humans will never learn
This awesome !
Pulitzer Prize winning stuff for sure!!!
Pulitzer is for journalism, I guess your thinking about the Nobel Prize - but you are right!
Thousand of these mechanisms worldwide -
Would make an huge difference -
On our fragile environment *
