@EsspressoMan1: Your comment got me reading more about recycling. In Minnesota, where I live, we have curbside recycling.
The problem I just found out, is the main material that recyclable bottles are made from is (PET). The problem is: it can be contaminated by certain other recyclable material in that same container. That makes (PET) unusable. I also learned we sell a lot of our good (PET) to China and then we need to make more products from new materials. The more you read, the more complicated everything gets.

We need to get back to glass containers & create jobs around that instead of big petroleum using the excuse that it's cheaper to manufacture new plastics than to recycle old.

The answer to the trash problem is not at the end but the beginning. The production packaging of products sold in the stores or to distributors.
Will cost a lot to change from the current strategies sold and used now. Corporate will fight it because profits will be lost and/or make it not affordable to exist as company.

Plastic bottles and large plastic bags and packaging should have a scan-able code linked to the purchaser of said item with set fines if that trash is found as litter or even an added deposit price that can only be refunded when the rubbish is scanned at proper disposal bins. Any fines or deposits to fund ongoing cleaning organizations

Look it up sometime, all they do is "ship it" to poverty stricken countries like Malaysia to sift through and attempt to recycle... but most of it is waste and ends up back in the ocean. Some companies don't even make the trips, they just go out to the water and dump their load, because More paychecks are waiting for them if they make it back to port fast enough to pick up the next load.

Despite their different compositions, wood and plastic have some chemical similarities. Both materials are organic, meaning that they are made from carbon-based compounds. Both materials are also flammable, meaning that they can be ignited and burned. Additionally, both materials can be degraded by exposure to heat, light, and oxygen.

Man will always generate trash, but we can certainly go a long way to minimize harmful trash like plastics that take a billion years to decay. Find alternatives to plastic packaging where you can when you shop. E.G., Stop buying bottled water and invest in a good thermos and water filters. Cardboard milk containers versus plastic.
