Opiates are physically additive. Alcohol is physically addictive. SSRIs, antipsychotics benzodiazepines, barbiturates, and hypnotics/z-drugs are also physically addictive. You can die from acute withdrawal if you've physically dependent on alcohol, barbs, benzos …
Amphetamines aren't addictive physically. You don't get dope sick from missing a dose of amphetamines. The same for methamphetamine. In fact, they are the same drug. They both break down to the same metabolites, and the physiological effects are nearly the same.

averat84 they are taking the drugs and addicted to them to escape reality. The above comment is accurate, your comment is only a detail or fact that supports the above comment. People don’t take drugs because they are happy and content with their life, they take them because they want to feel better and they keep taking them because it’s the only thing that makes them feel better and they keep taking them when it doesn’t make them feel better anymore because they are biologically addicted and detoxing from the drug would cause great distress in the persons reality so of course they don’t give up the drug because the discomfort of the reality of living without it becomes too painful to face so they die with the addiction. It is all escaping reality. The reality is overcoming addiction is uncomfortable and most people can’t face that discomfort

    • @Ikaros23
      @Ikaros23 4 года назад +7

@@KaylaSaysRawwr reality is that the pain comes from the drug. not from reality. And it is impossible to escape reality in the long run

I have been following Dr. Peeke since about 2006. I love her because she actually cares about women's health and she lives the lifestyle she advocates. I have seen her live and have met her in person (autographing my book). She's a caring person and she resonates with me. This Tedx Talk doesn't cover her research on menopause, but I have followed her advice since I was 35 or 36 and I'm all the more healthy for it. Her big a-ha for us in this talk is that we can change our genetics. I've changed mine.

+Nikki Caswell What-is has no bearing on what is coming unless you are continually
regurgitating the story of what is. By thinking and speaking more of
how you really want your life to be, you allow what you are currently
living to be the jumping-off place for so much more. But if you speak
predominantly of what-is, then you still jump off -but you jump off
      into more of the same.
When you reach for the thought that feels better, the Universe is now
responding differently to you because of that effort. And so, the
things that follow you get better and better, too. So it gets easier to
reach for the thought that feels better, because you are on
ever-increasing, improving platforms that feel better.

Healthy fixes fills those voids. I agree with that quote. But to make sure someone like myself wants to continue feeling good when my mind gets agitated and the feeling of cold sludge next to my brain. I'm fully aware that nutrition and exercise play a huge role in maintaining a positive mental attitude and staying fit. But even when I'm staying healthy mentally and physically there's this chemical imbalance that railroads me into oblivion, literally knocks me off track again. I've researched what i can do to overcome this helpless feeling to overcome adversity but in order for me to absolutely stay on track I need that ineffective, paralytic feeling or genetic imbalance to be subtracted from within me and replaced with pure unadulterated willpower. I really try and psychologically pretend I'm 100% solid, but all of sudden I'm interrupted by a cacophony of intense pressure pulling me down when I'm full aware of knowing I need to keep moving and wanting to feel good with my day.

Can’t agree more to what she says. One thing I can say is a lot of us have this FOMO due to being on social media. Watching so many people doing so many things leaves us thinking do I have anything special? Am I earning money through crypto? Do I have a beautiful spouse/car/house/dog/money etc etc. It doesn’t end, and that traps you thinking low about yourself and brings constant suffering. Practicing to not having this fomo and focusing on my passion and what makes sense to me, this video came at the right time in my suggestions.

BRAVO!! Those that have never experienced substance abuse addiction, I hope that you never do. I think, in fact, I know, we are better at battling certain addictions than others. That tiny, and saturated fat imagery is something I wont ever forget seeing. Kudos to you Dr! As Obi Wan says in Trainspotting, "with Gods help, I ll conquer this terrible affliction." =) Peace, love passion, and kick ass!

Absolutely on point. Pamela delivers her message with more than a twist.
Her talk is not just about "being on a diet" (strange how some of the commentary here seems to be fixated on that singular focus).
    It's about epigenetics.
I first became aware of this concept with Dr Bruce Lipton's book "the Biology of Belief", in which he describes in great detail his early research into epigenetics.
Many refused to believe his ideas, tried to disregard his research and theoretical concepts . . . but then, a few who were willing to step outside the box of accepted "norm" of the time began to replicate his experiments and research.
No one is laughing at his ideas now.

Dr. Pam...if we just listen AND apply your smartly delivered wisdom, we can have the real wealth of health. The Mayo Clilnic helped identify sitting as the new smoking, but the real truth is we all know when we are hurting or helping our bodies. It takes some tough self-love to get our bodies to obey the rules you prescribe...but, oh is it worth it. Thanks for getting the word out.

I disagree with her sexist premise hat men are turned either on or off in their brain. But I love how direct she is and gets straight to the point of improving our lifestyle

    • @PEACESEATINGDISORDERVLOG

she wasnt meaning sexually, she was talking about primitive drive. women dont relax when we get home, men typically do if their work is done, thats all.

yeah that was an oversimplification - male and female brains are virtually identical - it's mostly social roles that define the differences
men can be just as complicated and emotional, it's just not always that desirable in society

    • @j.m.3414

@@PEACESEATINGDISORDERVLOG And you don't find that to be sexist? Just because your dad may come home and relax on a chair drinking his beer while watching the game doesn't mean the typical man does. Just like my brothers wife who has 50 pairs of shoes doesn't personify a typical women. I know plenty of men who have more shoes than their wife.
