  • Jujutsu Kaisen is arguably the first major shonen manga and anime created by someone our age, someone who saw the world growing up like we did. Just... in Japanese with no subtitles. REGARDLESS Gege Akutami has taken it all in and regurgitated a masterpiece, find out what that means.

    Woof* we ALMOST didn't get this one out for 10AM but we did it boi! So happy to have something new to be so enthusiastic about. Also really excited to share it with people my age who wouldn't necessarily pick it up at first glance. Anyway, we're going to have a full month in May, it looks like we may be pumping out three videos (including a new look at Dorohedoro which i know a lot of you guys were excited about, sorry to have to push that back.) As always, you guys are the best! Please consider supporting the channel on patreon, and if you wanna get yourself something nice, currently our displate link carries a 30% off discount and it's in the description. We'll see you real soon.

    I've been so impressed with the female characters as well, as a woman myself who has watched a lot of shounen in my youth and adulthood. They aren't just love interests or hindrances, they aren't overly sexualised, and in my opinion, well written characters. The way they've done the female characters should be the baseline for shounen shows to come. And they're not perfect characters by any means, they have flaws and limitations just like the rest of them but that's what we want.

      I’ve gotten to where I hate romance sub-plots so much that I almost can’t even enjoy a good one anymore. I was so happy to finally find an anime that not only didn’t have any fanservice, but also treated its female cast as actual people, I honestly couldn’t contain myself. Lol.

      the focus is still on the male characters thought, being strong and fighting good doesn't do everything, Yuuji and Megumi both have this really interesting theme of choosing who to save and the consequences of it, what does Nobara have ? except Maki none of the female characters get much focus for the theme and the narrative, they are strong and not sexualized and that's great, would be better if they were more relevant to the plot in my opinion
      i kind of find it annoying how i keep seeing people praising the serie for the great female characters, when the author really is just doing the bare minimum, it's just that people are not used to seeing that in battle anime that just sad.

      It's got to either be a heavenly restriction, or... MAJOR MANGA SPOILERS BELOW -
      Yuji has to be a cursed death womb engineered by Kenjaku (aka noritoshi kamo, Getou, or 'brain') to be Sukunas vessel, to bring back the Heian era
      We know Kenjaku performed all kinds of experiments during his time as noritoshi kamo, and we also see the cursed wombs become progressively more refined over time - one brother is a weak, grotesque abomination, the butterfly guy is a lot more refined but still has a giant mouth on his back, and Choso is extremely refined, being indistinguishable from a human except for his nearly limitless supply of blood.
      We know that Kenjaku inhabited Yuji's mother. And we know Yuji is very young compared to Choso who was born 150+ years ago. Kenjaku's skills must have improved during that time from all his experimentation and learning. Most likely they improved to the point that he could manually engineer a vessel for Sukuna. The probability of it happening by random chance is astronomically low, Gojo even says there's no guarantee another vessel will EVER be born. Yuji was created deliberately to be Sukunas vessel.
      Consider Kenjakus ultimate goal, bringing back the Heian era. He basically states it after he absorbs mahito and releases all the cursed spirits. "Do you see it Sukuna? The return of the Heian era"
      Bringing back Sukuna would be all but necessary to reinstitute the rule of curses. It's no coincidence we see all the unregistered nature curses, who work with Getou/Kenjaku, appearing immediately after Yuji absorbs sukuna. Almost as if this was all part of his plan and he was orchestrating events to have Yuji become the vessel.
      Like why the fuck else would Yujis mom be taken over by Kenjaku lol
      It all fits together so perfectly, that I'd be shocked if this weren't true.
      Yuji's superhuman abilities are probably a consequence of being a cursed womb, and being engineered to be as strong as possible to actually be able to contain Sukuna. Not a casual feat. We know about the duality of the body and soul from both mahito and Toji Fushiguro (his body was so powerful it overtook the soul of that lady's grandson). So you would need an unbelievably powerful body and soul to not be taken over by Sukuna.
      This is the reason for yujis superhuman abilities imo.

    • @sebastianswan7975
      @sebastianswan7975 3 года назад +3

      @@whirlwind872 There is a problem with this theory though, which is sukuna himself. He is a hedonist, not really giving to much of a damn whether or not demons rule, why would Yuji be assigned as the vessel for sukuna if Sukuna isn't really trying to follow anything himself?

    • @whirlwind872
      @whirlwind872 3 года назад +21

      @@sebastianswan7975 I don't think that's a probelm at all, because Sukuna's desires aren't really relevant beyond his desire to exist at all, and to wreak havoc on the world. He might not care about other curses, but he doesn't need to. He's not the one bringing the other curses back, Kenjaku is. And Sukuna most definitely has plans to revive himself, as evidenced by Uraume showing up after the Jogo fight and Sukuna mentioning to continue their preparations.
      The point is, Sukuna doesn't need to give a fuck about anything other than A) living, and B) wreaking havoc on the world. Those 2 things were key characteristics of the Heian era. Which Kenjaku wishes to bring back. How will he bring it back? By helping to revive Sukuna. In order to revive sukuna, a vessel is required. Kenjaku created Yuji to be that vessel, in order to facilitate the recombining of sukuna's fragments (fingers).
      That's why kenjaku would create someone to be Sukuna's vessel. That "someone" just happened to be our main character Yuji.

    What JJK really gets right more than any shonen in the last fifteen years is characterization. Yes the fight scenes are fire, yes the power system is creative and allows for amazing dynamism in its storytelling. Yes the show walks the line beautifully between brutality horror and and sincerity. But at the end of the day all the characters have depth they’re thought out and sympathetic there’s something human to every character heroes villains and side characters which is why the overall theme of what does it mean to be a human hit so hard I deadass could watch these characters in a slice of life anime and be just as hooked I even found myself wishing the characters didn’t have to go through such traumatic arcs b/c I genuinely wants these fictional characters to live happy lives thanks for showing the show the appreciation it deserves

Hanami isn’t a representation of nature, but of our fear towards the ugly parts if it. They’re evil pretty much by definition. Jogo said so himself that curses have a constant need to inflict pain and death and destruction. They’re all the worst parts of us.

    There is also the fact that sorcerers gain new power not through training but personal revelations about themselves and their fighting styles, meaning that combat and character growth serve each other. This allows the action to be able to just keep going and not have to wait for characters to grow up, because the progression of the action is characters growing up. Making Jujustu psychological also shows how people's powers are extensions of their inner selves, especially with how domains work, and yeah. This show is just so good

I'm an OG Bleach fan, and I had noticed Domain Expansion felt like Bankai to me, like you just wanted to know what every person's was like, you get chills when you hear them say the words... but now I realize it goes beyond that. Obviously there's the curses which are like more realized hollow, they even gain more sentience and become more human-like ala Arrancar. Not only that but there's a Soul Society like group who want the MC dead but will eventually accept him, an Aizen like character who is a Sorcerer but works with curses, ah it all clicks into place!

    I just watched Season 1 of Jujustsu Kaisen a couple weeks ago. I wasn't intending to watch it as it appeared to be just another cookie cutter Shonen, but another RUclipsr who is well known in the anime game recommended it and their tastes are often in line with mine so I gave it a shot. It's pretty good, although it doesn't offer a lot that you haven't seen before if you've watched Yu Yu Hakasho, or Bleach. The animation is very well done IMO. I'd rate it a 7/10, not that anyone cares what I think. If you are looking for some rather mindless action, give it a go.
