Naruto isn't just a regular anime. Masashi Kishimoto went through a lot to bring the life experience necessary to create so many characters with depth and meaning. And the end result is a show that means more than just thirty minutes of escape from the world. Naruto brings out emotion and sentiment for our own lives. It's a story that crosses generations and all types of people to remind us that no matter who we are, we're on our own path surrounded by others, and no one goes through this world completely alone.

Finally Naruto gets some respect. People think they have fantastic taste by hating on Naruto. The show has it's flaws, but that doesn't stop it from being great.
P.S. I'm so glad someone else also has Lee and Guy as their favourites.

naruto is wasted potential story wise but i do like its unique dynamics and cast of characters and the messages it teaches just wish it was better with its execution and use of the non main cast and didn't focus on just sasuke so much...i just wish it was not boiled down to naruto and sasuke being same sides of the the same coin in the end after being on opposite ends of the coin all story long...all that fuss and thats how it ends?.....words change sasuke?..really?...it just felt like a waste of time....i would have them fight to the death....cause thats the main focus...its crammed into us so much that you hate the bond by the end....ironic...i just wish kishi was not the one writing it...he clearly sucks at writing a story...so he made it very simple....a kid wants to be accepted and he has to save his friend...basic plot of naruto for you...if you watch the ops you spoil it ...thats the show

@@razkable What you call wasted potential are probably things/characters Kishimoto never intended to expand. If you are referring to Rock Lee like most people who amazingly failed to grasp the fact that Lee had his characters arc and there was no need to expand any further on him.

Naruto saved my life. When I was thinking about suicide, I had started watching Naruto at the same time and I still remember Naruto saying how he got tired of crying and decided to do something with his life to Gaara or someone else and that moment and many more changed my life. As I person who was never recieved a word of positive encouragement from anyone, I realised that it was okay, I was okay and maybe if Naruto can do it then maybe I can do it too. I can make something of myself and if nobody will encourage I'll just encourage myself. I have never given into despair ever since because that's my ninja way.

Naruto isn't perfect, but it's WAY better than people give it credit for. The anime has some problems, but the manga was always solid.

I’d say the only problem is filler but even then just skip it
Ive been reading the manga along with the anime and so far it seems like its really the same thing which is why I stopped with the manga. What I like about the anime more is that fights last longer whereas in the manga they are done really quickly and are nowhere as entertaining like in the anime. They might be stretching some fights more than is necesary but in manga even the finest duels like Lee vs Gaara can be flicked through in a few dozen seconds.

I don't think Naruto was ever supposed to be an underdog in terms of ability. In chapter 1 he mastered a more advanced version of the technique he was struggling with in one night of training. That's not how effort works, he was always talented, just using his gifts wrong and struggling with personal issues.

I was bullied by a few people in my middle school days, just for liking and loving naruto as a whole. I'd like to say that this anime has saved my mental health more than anything when I was a young teenager who was trying to escape the world.

Watching the first episode of Naruto when was in middle school and watching the last one when I was way past my high school years was a surreal experience like no other.

I remember starting the series when I was in elementary -- almost in middle school -- and then reading the final chapter together with my best friend right after graduation. It was incredible.

For instance take the fight with Obito and kakashi it was good and clean with great levels of action and no real reliance in jujitsu almost like the first time zabuza and kakashi fought
for every jiraya itachi sasuke you get shit characters like karin danzo sakura which is the problem..
Summoning jutsu was literally in the first episode

Emotions exploded just from watching the footage. Naruto will always have a special place in my heart. It always felt like it connected with me. From junior high, and through my time in the Marine Corps, Naruto was my rock time and time again.

I had a similar experience, through high school and through my time after I was in a car accident that broke my neck and left me paralyzed, naruto has always been there for me. Pushing me to keep going through physical therapy and 40+ surgeries in the span of 5 years. Naruto has been a constant reminder to never give up and that I can get through anything

Naruto is atrocious, it is not only the worst piece of animated media ever, but the worst piece of media ever, this show gets nothing right, the characters are some of, if not the worst characters in any form of media, they're awful, they are astoundingly terrible, especially Naruto, every second he is on screen, I want to give him to most brutal bloody beatdown, he is so fucking annoying, the show wants us to feel sympathy because nobody likes him even though it's his fault, he wants to become something he doesn't respect the status of or respect it at all, he has the most potential of almost anyone in the show and somehow is the only person that fails his exams, there's so much wrong but that's just Naruto, Sasuke is a stupid edgy emo boy and I don't care his brother killed his whole family, it's supposed to be this sad backstory but I just laughed, his only purpose is to be a woman magnet and a foil for Naruto, an atrocious one at that, but still a foil, and Sakura... no words honestly, none need to be said, the most annoying to least goes 1.Naruto 2.Sakura and 3.Sasuke so now the story, oh wait there is none, the only "story" is Naruto wants to be hokage but that's so ambiguous since there hasn't yet been explained how one gets it, so really the plot jumps wherever it wants to and it just sucks, they just fight forgettable villain after forgettable villain and there's no stakes at all, the show also had humor for toddlers, its astoundingly unfunny, my face stayed blank with every attempt at a joke as well as the fights, speaking of them god they are awful, for a huge chunk of the series its just shadow clones, rasengans and basic hand-to-hand combat, absolutely boring as fuck and the only other things are other boring ass ninja moves, until shippuden where the fights are a little better but honestly still real bad and my face was still blank the whole time, and the animation hurts my eyes with how bad it is, the voices are annoying as hell, the settings are just, forest, forest, forest, and, oh! more forest, unoriginal as hell, so yeah, Naruto is an atrocity of a show and the worst one of all time, ok bye

I goddamn love Naruto. The series hit so many highs during its run. The final Naruto/ Sasuke battle is a honest to god treat.
I may not agree on how they ended the final arc, but this series just hits different for me..the amazing soundtrack that i still come back to till this day, the characters (even tho they hoed my man Rock Lee in Shippuden), the story has its misses but when they hit it right, man does it hit you..no anime is perfect imo, but it doesnt need to be one to have an impact in your life

Growing up with Naruto and seeing him grow from a lonely kid to the eventual Hokage with a family of his own is a feeling that no other anime will ever be able to replicate.
Naruto and anime in general is like serotonin for my depression it always makes me happy and I love how every anime either shows you something important or something you need to be reminded of that makes you think and realize and helps you become a better and kinder person usually

I'm tired of the anime community calling any popular anime other people like mid. It's full of kids who haven't even watched it and a bunch of sheep following everyone else and calling naruto trash or mid. Naruto was the first anime I watched from primary school and finished it at uni, I had felt the emotions of the characters, the tragedy, the comedy and the growth with all of them. Naruto will hopefully be the first and last anime I watch. This is definitely one of the best anime I'll ever witness in my life... :>

Someone made a Naruto Kai supercut that only has what’s in the manga and removes some unnecessary flashbacks, and also reorders some of it to fit the manga. Out of their own passion for free. I can’t recommend it enough

@@QKumberZ What js790 said. I don’t know if it’s being streamed anywhere but finding a way to watch it downloaded with Plex or something else that saves your spot is best because each episode is also a manga novel, so they’re usually like 1 1/2 hours long
@@QKumberZ note that it also removes OPs and EDs and those are essential to experience Naruto, without those I don't think you'll enjoy it as much or would be hyped for episodes.
I think you should just stick with regular Naruto and skip fillers, it's pretty easy.

Growing up a family friend showed me naruto , the first part . He had it burned onto old cds and let me borrow vol1-10 and I grew up loving it. I started using when I was 14/15 and was shooting up by 17 and thought I was “too cool “ I got clean two years ago n I’m 21 now, and I’ve re-fell in love with stuff I use to love and I’m so glad . It’s crazy the story of how kishimoto came up with naruto and how the manga and show became what it is today.

Naruto is atrocious, it is not only the worst piece of animated media ever, but the worst piece of media ever, this show gets nothing right, the characters are some of, if not the worst characters in any form of media, they're awful, they are astoundingly terrible, especially Naruto, every second he is on screen, I want to give him to most brutal bloody beatdown, he is so fucking annoying, the show wants us to feel sympathy because nobody likes him even though it's his fault, he wants to become something he doesn't respect the status of or respect it at all, he has the most potential of almost anyone in the show and somehow is the only person that fails his exams, there's so much wrong but that's just Naruto, Sasuke is a stupid edgy emo boy and I don't care his brother killed his whole family, it's supposed to be this sad backstory but I just laughed, his only purpose is to be a woman magnet and a foil for Naruto, an atrocious one at that, but still a foil, and Sakura... no words honestly, none need to be said, the most annoying to least goes 1.Naruto 2.Sakura and 3.Sasuke so now the story, oh wait there is none, the only "story" is Naruto wants to be hokage but that's so ambiguous since there hasn't yet been explained how one gets it, so really the plot jumps wherever it wants to and it just sucks, they just fight forgettable villain after forgettable villain and there's no stakes at all, the show also had humor for toddlers, its astoundingly unfunny, my face stayed blank with every attempt at a joke as well as the fights, speaking of them god they are awful, for a huge chunk of the series its just shadow clones, rasengans and basic hand-to-hand combat, absolutely boring as fuck and the only other things are other boring ass ninja moves, until shippuden where the fights are a little better but honestly still real bad and my face was still blank the whole time, and the animation hurts my eyes with how bad it is, the voices are annoying as hell, the settings are just, forest, forest, forest, and, oh! more forest, unoriginal as hell, so yeah, Naruto is an atrocity of a show and the worst one of all time, ok bye

It’s VERY rare for anime youtubers to give Naruto the credit it deserves because of the contrarian hate wagon that arose in the community around 2012-2013, so I was really happy to see this!
Honestly. People like to bash it because of how mainstream it is.
Man, Naruto has a special place in my heart. I watched it as a preteen when it first started airing on Toonami, and it set me on the path to loving anime as a whole. It is flawed, but it has such a strong emotional and philosophical core that it sticks with me in my twenties. Plus, it gave me Hinata Hyuuga, one of my life inspirations and favorite characters of all time!

I have met a lot of people who hate Naruto, and rightly so, it has some problems. But this anime has always been a personal gem for me. Nothing has ever beaten the feeling of me getting home excited to watch the next episode and the sheer joy I felt as Haruka Kanata started blasting.

DBZ, YuGiOh, YuYu, Inuyasha, Digimom, Pokemon... they christened me. But, Naruto turned me into an absolute fanatic. Learned all the hand signs, and would carry and copy of the manga everywhere I go. That Zabuza arc is a CLASSIC. And, I'll never forget that New Years Naruto Marathon on Toonami -- mint.
I liked Naruto as an older guy. It was the start of a new wave of early 2000s anime that sucked me in after I watched everything I could in the 90s. Not to mention, it was also the start of high speed internet in most homes. So people had a lot more access to anime like this compared to the 90s.

One of the biggest misconceptions people have of Naruto as a story is they keep assuming it's an underdog story using the theme of hard work will take you anywhere. To an extent this is still the backdrop. However, post timeskip Naruto leans heavy into the complex themes of ending the cycle of hatred. It all culminates at the end of the Pain arc, and then from there we see the fight back. The characters finally start seeing what is at stake if they won't fight back against the cycle of hatred, and therefore we get the final ninja war.

The part in the waterfall fighting 'evil' Naruto is my favorite. We all have that dark side but we must embrace it to move forward. Also, the fact that Naruto as an anime/manga has flaws and people give it a bad rap, in itself, manifests why it's so great.
Naruto was my first anime. It will always hold a place in my heart and even though there is better looking anime’s out there , the story telling of naruto will never be beat.

This is a very misunderstood topic. Naruto's power growth has a great build up behind it that many people tend to overlook. Please read:
Many people tend to see Naruto as a born prodigy (like his father) because he learned high level techniques like Shadow Clone, Rasengan, Rasenshuriken or Sage mode, relatively quickly.
In actuality all his power growth boils down to ONE technique, based on his personality: Shadow Clones, a technique he mastered out of his inner desire to make friends (when he had none) and out of desperation to save the only person that truly cared about him at the time (Iruka).
Rasengan wasn't a technique he could actually properly execute for pretty much the entier series. He couldn't control it, he literally "cheated it out" by using more people to create them (his shadow clones) (this whole technique is also a symbolism for unity, and the power of helping each other).
This is a running theme for his growth, he could learn Rasenshuriken relatively fast because he used his shadow clones to do more training at the same time, and he could also keep up Sage Mode for a reasonable time because he used shadow clones to gather energy in his place.
The whole idea behind Naruto's growth is that he is using "basic practiality" to overcome his obstacles, instead of fancy, precise techniques or genius manouvers, he comes up with ideas that a genius might even overlook because of how simple they are. This is something that goes all the way till the end of the series where he uses Sexy no Jutsu on Kaguya of all people, and something that resulted him getting to all of his earth shattering techniques, and goes all the way back to him using simple combinations of shadow clones to compensate for his lack of other Ninja techinques everyone else used with much more ease.
Ofcouser there is also another source of his power, which is the kyuubi, who gave him power in 3 different ways, none of which were a free inherited powers to be born with. 1st state: Naruto facing the danger that is the Kyuubi trying to take over his body with the more of his power he taps into, 2nd state: Naruto defeating the kyuubi with the help of her Mother and with all the strenght he already acquired to that point, 3rd state: Naruto befriending the Kyuubi because of his personality of seeing the good in everyone, which is the main massage of part2: that "everyone can be set back on the right path"
Also, Naruto's genetic WASN'T a good genetic, just a unique one. He had a larger than average chakra pool, but it was also stated that his meant he was that much worse at controlling his chakra, which was a reason why he was so bad at learning new Ninja techniques and becoming a genin. Unlike him, his father was great at chakra control and learning new techniques from the beginning (while also having big chakra pool), he was a true prodigy, but Naruto didn't inherit this talent of his.
Lastly, many people often think that his "children of prohphecy/reincarnatrion of ashura" title also gave him great power growth, but these powers didn't actually kick in till the very end of the series (6th path and seal against Kaguya), it wasn't something that helped him get this far.
great comment. i think the only real ass pull was, as you said, in the end with the indra/ashura incarnation. i think naruto would have been even better when the mangaka would not have had as much pressure as he had.
Even the Indra and Ashura thing in misinterpreted. It is the physical manifestation of the "cycle of hatred". It dictated that Naruto and Sasuke will fight to the death and then it will continue for eternity. But Naruto through hard work broke this cursed fate of Sasuke and his and by extension the cycle of hatred. Neither of them died and became friends again by the end
HUH? Naruto did not "master" shadow clone, it's just that it was the right jutsu for him given that it was stated that he was always exerting more chakra than everyone else and that's why he cannot create a perfect clone. Because everytime he does it he drowns it with too much chakra.
Yeah sure he learned rasengan by grit but isnt it lazy writing that like 90% of the show he spams that same shit over and over again? It's basically his whole nuke jutsu. And to think he had every chakra release mastered but still stick with fucking rasengan like wtf. That's why people speculated that since rasengan was a copied concept from Gon's Jajanken, Kishimoto also just became stuck with it coz tough luck, HxH was always in hiatus during that time and he was basically forced to continue his story with no longer being able to copy from Togashi's works. And so since Togashi just stick with the Jajanken concept, he also just blindly followed and stuck with rasengan concept.
The danger with using the Kyuubi was not even that serious in the first place. It's not like Naruto's lifespan gets shortened or his bones break or muscles wear and tear while being in that form. And when he's nearing that limit, he suddenly had his dead parents' soul guarding the gate in which the Kyuubi was sealed lol. It's basically a free power-up and it became even more so once he "befriends" Kyuubi with classic talk no jutsu a.k.a "I, too, have experienced pain"
Naruto's genetic WAS a good genetic. In fact, it is the greatest genes a ninja could ask for as it will allow you to spam multiple ninjutsu's with that large of a chakra capacity. It's just that he's lazy and stupid that's why he wasn't able to control his chakra. The guy doesn't even know what chakra means early on in the series and people claim that he works hard?
And of course him being the prophecy child did not give him great power. Because he already had it in the first place! Enormous chakra capacity coupled with unlimited chakra from Kyuubi? He's basically a God among shinobi. There are TONS of Naruto characters in Naruto and they weren't able to get that far because they're not as gifted as he is. And with his gifts attracted overpowered teachers in Kakashi, Jiraiya, Sages at Mt. Mobyoku, and Killer Bee. In short, all of the greatest teachers one could ask for (and there's 5 of them) favoring their teachings to 1 single student.

I didn’t watch Naruto until I was 32 and yet it grabbed in a way that no story ever has. I think your assessment that it’s simplicity is it’s strength.
The ideals that Naruto holds to may be simple, but they are true and that’s why it resonates with so many.
Some of the ideals that are expressed are truly life changing. Some things that are expressed carry so much gravitas and emotional fulfillment. My favorite lessons I learned from Naruto are ones that I plan to pass on to my children.
I think the hate is largely coming from a place of immaturity. Not saying you have to like it, but much of the hate I hear lands pretty flat.

Love me some Naruto. It truly is an incredibly amazing manga/anime that is almost overlooked by it's wide appeal.
i think it easy to hate on by casuals and people who find a lot of the characters hard to enjoy which I get....its an old shounen.....i have noticed many kids growing up in sheltered 2012-2019 range have grown up not being able to relate to the cast as much and issues...they want more genuinely likeable characters ala lee hinata bee gai maybe minato..which sadly naruto does not have a lot of ...those are low key some of the only likeable fleshed out characters....like sure kurenai is likeable but who is she?..we barley know

This is why i love naruto. I think they don't see what see on naruto. Everytime i watched naruto i get these feeling like "i've never thought of like that before".
As i mature and keep rewatching it, i see and realize how much wisdom really kishimoto poured in this anime because it gets to another level of understanding and realization. I kind of get when kishimoto said when he ended naruto that he already did everything he want to in naruto.

8:13 The story always pointed out that Naruto was special. Even from the early days. The realization that he’s from the Uzumaki lineage falls in line with his story. And up until the war arc, Naruto being the Nine Tails Jinjuriki wasn’t a blessing. It was more of a curse. Even when the power of the fox takes over, the story makes it a point to emphasize the damage that occurs not just to himself, but to others. And even his “natural abilities” wasn’t really a blessing if you think about it. It was precisely because of his mass pool of chakra that he struggled so much with basic chakra control.
Naruto had talent, but he also needed the resolve to be able to work hard in order to bring that talent to fruition, and the same could be said for every character in the story.
This is just my opinion though, and this is an amazing video.
Naruto Shippuden, Death Note, and Code Geass are a work of art and some of the best anime of all time that will ever be made

Naruto is atrocious, it is not only the worst piece of animated media ever, but the worst piece of media ever, this show gets nothing right, the characters are some of, if not the worst characters in any form of media, they're awful, they are astoundingly terrible, especially Naruto, every second he is on screen, I want to give him to most brutal bloody beatdown, he is so fucking annoying, the show wants us to feel sympathy because nobody likes him even though it's his fault, he wants to become something he doesn't respect the status of or respect it at all, he has the most potential of almost anyone in the show and somehow is the only person that fails his exams, there's so much wrong but that's just Naruto, Sasuke is a stupid edgy emo boy and I don't care his brother killed his whole family, it's supposed to be this sad backstory but I just laughed, his only purpose is to be a woman magnet and a foil for Naruto, an atrocious one at that, but still a foil, and Sakura... no words honestly, none need to be said, the most annoying to least goes 1.Naruto 2.Sakura and 3.Sasuke so now the story, oh wait there is none, the only "story" is Naruto wants to be hokage but that's so ambiguous since there hasn't yet been explained how one gets it, so really the plot jumps wherever it wants to and it just sucks, they just fight forgettable villain after forgettable villain and there's no stakes at all, the show also had humor for toddlers, its astoundingly unfunny, my face stayed blank with every attempt at a joke as well as the fights, speaking of them god they are awful, for a huge chunk of the series its just shadow clones, rasengans and basic hand-to-hand combat, absolutely boring as fuck and the only other things are other boring ass ninja moves, until shippuden where the fights are a little better but honestly still real bad and my face was still blank the whole time, and the animation hurts my eyes with how bad it is, the voices are annoying as hell, the settings are just, forest, forest, forest, and, oh! more forest, unoriginal as hell, so yeah, Naruto is an atrocity of a show and the worst one of all time, ok bye

It can be said he had potential but the amount of work he had to go through, so many times it would have been easier to just give up but he stood firm and went on.

The story didn't really betray the narrative because it has always been about never giving up. Lee would have been an ok protagonist but he is a one trick pony and they cant add anything to his arsenal interms of ninjutsu and thats not marketable as much as 87 flavors of rasengan and fox form mode.
Naruto with his strategy of just shadow clones and rasengan gets memed on and people say they prefer Sasukes fights in terms of it being interesting.
Naruto is for real for real for real the best show ever and the best manga/book ever!!!!!!!!

I don't dislike Naruto. It gave me really good times, but I hated the last arc and how the series betrays itself by making Naruto essentially Jesus and a literal god at the end. That's why I don't see it as a masterpiece. It has masterpiece characters though.
@Jake Wezley I've always thought it should have had itachi vs sasuke around the time of naruto vs pain. Sasuke beats itachi and finds out the truth about itachis life. He then goes to destroy the village. Naruto beats pain and then has to fight sasuke as the final fight. Would have been a nice ending
How naruto become like jesus? Naruto is different to jesus. Also this show inspired alot with buddism and christianity which I like the christianity part like forbidden fruit, and disciples. Because it takes about the very first history which will really include divine presence which they really made well! I am glad finally more peeps are enjoying the show for its masterpieceness because for me as well Naruto-Naruto Shippuden Affected me in a very personal level in which there were moments where I cried because of moments of both feeling very close to the characters and that of my life, Naruto is and will be one of the Anime that I watched and impacted me to an insane degree in which I rate it a 10/10 even if it had filler i still enjoyed it
Naruto was one of the most inspirational animes I watched growing up in my teens. Hands down 13-17 I was all over that show. Badass show. Badass!!!

What I love personally about Naruto, is the message to believe in yourself. Something so many people, including myself struggle with. Naruto was ostracized and looked down upon by his village unfairly. Despite that, he kept believing in himself and his dream to become hokage. Thriving through training and hard work to reach it. He didn't let other's words about him affect him, because through action he was already on the pathway to living and making his dream a reality. Sometimes it can be hard to believe in ourselves. We stray from the path we set for ourselves or abandon it all together. Just trying to navigate through the craziness of this world and figuring out who you are as a person.Naruto states to Nagato "no matter how much pain my path may bring, I'll keep walking." A beautiful series that explores the power in believing in one self, your friends, and your community. Thanks for covering it Bonsai Pop!
OMG The beginning of This video hit way close to home. . .lol, Being too behind on my time in high-school with the younger-thans running around with their hands behind their backs with goofie headbands and me being an edgy kid in and out of punk bands. . OMG THOUGH!!! LOL. I just finally picked up the first 27 volumes of the manga and am planning on reading it quite sooj(as soon as I finish some other mangas) I am excited to watching the rest and seeing what I'm in for. Naruto was not even my first anime. Yet I still love it the most. I don't know, it's just the attachment the series created with me. I enjoyed it all the way through the end, and it has some godlike characters, like Pain, Itachi, Kakashi, Sasuke (my fav) and many more.
The fights are amazing as well. They have a great use of strategy (mostly at the beginning) and the villains are well-written. Pain, Obito, Orochimaru, Madara, you name it.
P. S. Kaguya arc is trash. Literally the only Naruto arc I think is bad.

Naruto went from being a kid who was never included in anyones family to a young man trying to include everyone into his family.
Naruto isnt in my top 5 anime but what it means to me throughout being a teenager in that early 2000s era made it very dear to my heart, you hit the points, its a story of friendship and inclusiveness and Kishimoto needs to be forever recognized for this, North American cartoons could never bring the feels like this, im 34 now and ive been rewatching it with my 8 year old daughter ❤ and she is learning the importance of bonds and it warms my heart

And the reason why - something I've never put into words before - you've explained here so beautifully ;-; (yo really the writing for this vid low-key took me on a shounen feels trip). No other anime, or piece of media really, can do for me what Naruto did, as simple and mainstream as it is. The simplicity of Naruto is one of its best parts, like you said, anyone from any walk of life can relate to it.
