Some good points, but a small recommendation: When making/purchasing multiple shelves for any room in your apartment, AVOID open shelves. I have shelves in the living room, small dining area, bedroom, and bathroom. I live next to a major freeway and my street is constantly utilized by vehicles and utility trucks. This is so "helpful" in kicking up dirt, debris, emissions, etc., which the evening light breezes then usher through my front door. About every three weeks I remove all items in order to "dust" the shelves, as well as my books and other items which have accumulated dust and dirt. I finally ended up purchasing a small roll of plastic wrap - the same industrial type used by businesses to wrap gifts, food, etc., in which a "blow dryer" is used to shrink it around an item - that I've placed on my book cases and open shelves. If the wrap becomes dirty, it is easy and quick to wipe clean. If it is shows signs of wear, age or damage, I simply replace it with a new piece; the pieces cut easily to customize. I no longer have to commit to cleaning shelves an entire weekend in my small apartment. I hope this is of help.
This is by far the best do it yourself video I have ever seen. I literally look at almost every video I can find on RUclips in regards to doing small home projects. Way to go. thank you so much!
Many people complaining about the narrator's voice, but she speaks very clearly and the automatic CC is literally perfect. This is incredibly rare and I'm glad.
If you have an open area between entry way door and open area living room you can take 2 Large gallery canvases .You can paint them (or Make paintings yourself if you are artistic) and hang from ceiling. It will keep air from outside from blowing into your Living room and add interest at your entrance. If you wish you can attache inside hinges to "bottom "of each canvas an narrow hiding space for scarves and other items. ( You can cut dowels and use small S=hooks to make hangers.( Best to use heavy decorative chain to hang from ceiling, so the 2 canvases won't fall down)
I bought the clip strips for spices and they fell off but then I used E6000 glue and tape to hold them on until the glue dried and they stay in place without falling off now. These are great for when you don't have enough cabinet space for spices and you can put the ones you use the most on the inside door where you can easily find them quickly.
@@DeltaChi16just because the instructions saya table saw doesnt mean you necessarily need one. You can buy cheap circular saws used, or use a handsaw. Use a little creativity to get around restrictions instead of using it as an excuse.
The narrator makes it seem so easy to make those drawers , desks and whatever.. you got to have a lot of time and patience for that... this is not like putting a puzzle together.
A lot of these you can find ways to diy cheaper and/or better. For example the spice clips you can get wire shelves at the dollar tree so its be 4 instead of 10 and can hold glass spices among other things. Dollar tree is a goldmine for organizing stuff for a reasonable price
I've never understood sticking stuff on the inside of the cabinet door to "save space"! Unless you have very unusual cabinets, with recessed shelves, as soon as you close the door the items are going to push what's on the inner shelf back, taking up that same space with what's hanging on the door!
Rachel Rose Except, as I said, you AREN'T utilizing unused space! If your shelves fit right up to the door, the items hung on the door will still take up shelf space. You're not "saving" any space, you're basically spending money on those clips for nothing!
glandularmass Duh....have them hang "under" the shelf above.....geez, why have I never seen it that way?!? I always pictured them even with the shelves. Sometimes my brain works, sometimes it refuses!
Normally those items you stick on the inside of the cabint doors are small in size like spices.. it is trus that it still took up the space when the doors are closed.. but it is much more organised and can be easily retrieved compared to if they were all stack onto one another and sometimes falling to the back. We will easily able to check which spice need to get
The vertical pantry shelf tucked in between the frij and counter is an invitation for roaches. Roaches love dark, cramped spaces (filled with food, yet). I would never do that one. Overall, ideas thumbs up. Speaker, slooow.
@Wanda Tolbert yep the biggest thing is to make sure they cant get access to food. Metal/glass canisters for flour, sugar, etc (mice can chew thru plastic). If they cant eat then they'll move on.
Yes, I'd love to see someone using it while the wind was nearly blowing them off the balcony, or they were getting snowed or rained on. Who hasn't got enough room to sit on a chair and use a laptop indoors?
Bj Day She is hoping you will click on the links above in the Notes section so she will make a commission off the sale. (It won’t cost you anything more.). This should be obvious to you by now. This is called affiliate marketing and pretty much every brick and mortar store and all online stores use this to push sales and market their products. People with RUclips channels are all trying to make a buck (more power to them) and this is one way (one “income stream”) to do that.
Bj Day if only there was this electronic device where you could type in keywords and suddenly screens would pop up that would direct you to various “stores” and you could find these weird things
I believe (expensive) Ikea may be one place if a person has "disposable income", which many of us do not have. And since many of the hardware stores in my area, as well as surrounding areas, have closed ("thanks" WA administration) it's been extremely difficult to find DIY items which I can install or build in my tiny apartment. Plus, replacements such as rubber or plastic pieces, glue, caster wheels, or even specialty light bulbs are hard to find. :(
Some of these items are just ridiculous. How many apartment renters are going to be able to whip out their power tools and construct some floating drawer to store whatever...? And how many landlords are going to let them try, especially when they are not professionals? Not me, and I own three rental houses.
Ebay is great, the amount of things i find on there is amazing and so cheap too, so many suppliers selling all kinds of bits and bobs, just remember to change your settings to "new" instead of "used" and we do have wayfair here in britain but it can be expensive, i have looked on there for ideas and then bought a copy from ebay, i think t k maxx is similar to target aswell, they have all kinds of home ideas
Vita717 ya...Travolta goes into Bruce Willis's apt to cap him, SETS his Uzi on the counter in the kitchen after he figures out no one's there...then leaves it THERE while he goes to take a dump...Bruce Willis's comes back while he's still in the John, sees and picks up the Uzi, and caps Travolta on the throne.... Better to keep it with ya...
Ok, I watched the whole thing *and* read the comments. Yes, her narration is annoying. No, that gun shouldn't be in this video. And yes, it's kind of silly to assume that people have the carpentry skills and tools to make much of this stuff. In my particular studio, I have NO cabinets in either kitchen or bathroom and my ceiling isn't secure enough to hold the one thing that would help, the hanging clothes rack (because I don't have any closets, either). So, all in all, not helpful at all for me. ymmv :)
Could someone please tell me the brand on the storage headboard. I have looked for it and can not find it. Thank you in advance. I do like the ideas, and think they will be handy when I move from a home into an apartment. Thank you for sharing.
Not sure if you're still looking, but I got a sweet storage bed on colemanfurniture.com (it was on others sites but this was free delivery and set up). The one I have is the Kira Storage Platform bed. I got the whole room set, it's so very nice. Great quality.

For laundry baskets I think the holes are for ventilation in case the dirty clothes are musty. The holes may not be needed if clothes are not sweaty.

I invested in a steamer instead of an iron and ironing board. I live in an apartment and I just don't have the space for them. Best decision ever!
Which one did you get? I found it not to get the wrinkles out properly
I also would like to know the brand you chose.
People don’t have room for their knives, but you think they have room for a full-on wood shop to make an under cabinet sliding knife drawer?
If you have the space for a carpentry workshop you have the space for a lot of other things. ;)
