It's much easier if your guitar action is set up correctly. I've seen many guitars that have the strings so far away from the neck, most people give up immediately. It's a guitar not a violin.

    My F CHORD journey:
Hi guys! I learned playing guitar from his videos. I first time saw this video around an year ago, 2 months after buying the guitar. Then I started practicing F chord.
First few days: Unbearable pain in fingers, especially index finger and thumb muscles. Couldn't play at all.
1 month: Still pain in fingers, sounded somewhat better but not good. Last 2 high strings where hardest to play. B string was always dead or distorted. Sometimes got very very frustrated like thought of breaking the guitar.
3 month: COULD PLAY F CHORD! But very slow chord changes. Thumb muscle still hurts.
6 months: Could EASILY play F chord, and other bar chords. Chord changes with open chords and other bar chords somewhat better but still slow, around 3 seconds gap in between changes. Thumb muscle still hurts. Singing along with playing guitar very difficult, couldn't do together.
1 year: Open and bar chords progression containing F chord faster such that it sounds good with songs. Can sing and play together but still its hard and requires lots of concentration.
Now: So yeah, can easily play F chord mostly sounding perfect, can do chord progressions with F chord fast. Can sing while playing rythms with F chord but still struggling in this aspect. Fingers and thumb muscles hurt less! And of course, still practicing.......
    Conclusion: Practice....Practice.....Practice
You may check out this video to see how I play now with both types of F chord:

Thanks for sharing, i have been practicing for a month now. The pain on my fingers are getting a little less but it still hurts when I try to play for a while so i take one minute breaks whenever it hurts like hell😂. I am getting a little better at cords switching now but still got a long way to perfect it. And now I am starting bar cords, i can somehow make sound from the 2nd F cord but i can't play the B cord. My fingers aren't just reaching 😂 But i am practicing everyday and it feels like getting better even if it's a little amount.
Edit: After two months of practice i can play the F bar chord but switching between F and C is slow

First when I got my guitar I could barely play the basic chords and had no idea how strumming patterns work so after about a month I ended up giving up and didn't play guitar for over a year. Thankfully I've made a friend who really loves music and they can play a couple instruments well which inspired me to pick up my guitar again. Thanks to them I've made a lot of progress in these past 2 weeks. I re-learnt all the basic chords and can switch between them easily and I'm able to play a couple simple songs. Now I'm here, struggling to play the F chord, but this time I'm not going to give up, because my friend belives that I can do it, so I'll keep trying. I'm sure all of you will manage to play it eventually, just be patient and try your best :]

One of the best tips for learning a proper bar chord that I have gotten as a beginner, practice playing the notes clearly but with as little pressure as possible to create that clear sound. I realized that it really doesn’t take much pressure to get a clear note as I thought. It’s much more about positioning.

I couldn't play a single barre chord. It seemed impossible.
But now 6 months later I can play all 4 main barre chords individually (shifting between them is a challenge ). So if any one is struggling with barre chords it will definitely happen just give it time !
There is honestly no secret or hidden technique to master. Just a lot of practice and a lot of experimentation (see what works for your fingers cause we have differently sized hands ) .

  • @zachross3541
    @zachross3541 9 месяцев назад

Finally got it! This is what worked best for me, maybe give this a shot if you’re struggling. Start by playing/practicing an “open” barre. just your 1 finger across a fret, nothing else. Get comfortable transitioning into that. Then I realized a c and an f are pretty close. I started by playing a c and then dropping my 4 finger onto the 4th string still playing a “c”. Once that was easy, I then would move my 2 finger down from the 4th string to the third while still dropping my 4th finger on. Now your 2,3, and 4 fingers are in position and getting the muscle memory to get into that position. All that’s left is flattening your 1! Took me a week to master the “open” barre, and a couple days for the rest. Keep practicing! I thought it was impossible, but it’ll come.

In addition to not having to press all strings, I once saw a great method in another video: Instead of clamping down with “just” that one weak index finger, apply pressure to the guitar with your right arm and pull it a little more towards your body… and then hold the left index against that pressure. I find that much easier. In combination, it works really well. Now I just have to practice so the chord changes are quicker 😊.

It took me two years to play barre chords correctly and by that I mean switching bettwen open chords and bar chords without loosing the rythm.
Guys this is really difficult. It takes a very long time to play correctly so don't beat yourself up if you can't do it yet. You just have to keep trying until you get it, no other way around it.

GuitarZero2Hero hi! I already shared this in another comment, but let me tell you, The thing that has helped me the most (in every situation) and that you might find helpful to share it yourself!, is using a metronome! Starting with 30bpm and gradually adding 5 at a time & to start adding the full chord sequence as well (start with a sequence of two chords, then 3 and then the full 4) has done wonders on getting the songs down!! I used to hate the damn thing but the metronome has really helped me get the motor memory on check! :)
