    • @SonicProfessor_a.k.a._T._Andra
      @SonicProfessor_a.k.a._T._Andra 4 года назад +4

      @@michaelb1761 I don't necessarily know if I would qualify "most" of Thorogood and The Destroyers' songs as covers. - I mean: "Bad To The Bone", "I Drink Alone", "Gear Jammer" ...just to name three, all written by George hisself 👍👍😁
      ...but, as with many (or, even, most, perhaps) great blues artists ...they tend to pay homage to their forerunners (esp. those who, both DID and did NOT receive the accolades and recognition they were due, at the time. 👍). ...Let's try to name a guy who HASN'T covered, say: Muddy Waters ...or Skip James ...or Robert Johnson ...or Leadbelly ...or Willie Dixon ?? Right?
      ...but George wrote plenty ...just as the man who brought blues back from the brink, a few years later [Stevie Ray Vaughan], did, as well.
      They both wrote plenty of their own material ...However: they knew where they came from and who was important to shine a light upon. 🤘🤘
      ...but, yes, in any case: I, really, was expressing the fact that "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" was a John Lee Hooker standard, not to take AWAY from George Thorogood's version (I think I like G.T.'s version even BETTER than John Lee Hooker's original, personally!) or to make any statement regarding "quality," at all or "originality" (everyone has to give their own voice to a song ...otherwise they've done nothing at all! In essence! - at the very least: Nothing worthwhile!!), but, simply, because: I was pretty certain that Andy & Alex (along with a number of others who frequent the page) might NOT be AWARE that: "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" was a cover and of how important a figure Mr. John Lee Hooker IS in American Blues music.
      -Not everyone has the benefit of, either: hindsight, research or, simply, "awareness." Y'see?? 👍😁💜
      That was, really, "my point."
      ...but I agree with your assessment: George Thorogood is a magnificently talented guitarist and all of the classic blues he has covered, he has done with skill, aplomb and talent.

    Five Reasons why I love George Thorogood;
    (1) After playing semi pro baseball, and as a hard core baseball fan, he decided he'd rather focus on music as a career.
    (2) He opened for the Rolling Stones. In fact I've read that the Stones wanted to bring him into the band at one point.
    (3) He's got a great sense of humor.
    (4) He and the Destroyers absolutely tear up the stage.
    (5) He's got a killer sax player who gets plenty of room to show his chops. As you can tell by my avatar, that's close to my heart.

      She is a phenomenal vocalist! Heart was one of my singing inspirations, as were Plant, Daltrey, Bowie and Joplin. I grew up listening to what we now call classic rock, as a teen in the ‘70s. I’m a woman and was the lead singer in a Zep tribute band (a dream come true) at 40 years old, though I’d covered them, The Who, Bowie, the Stones, Pat Benatar, Queen, AC/DC, Judas Priest, etc, for years, including in an all-girl, hard rock band in my twenties. I switched to Blues and Jazz since, but still love going to jam nights and rocking out.

In the early 70s I was working in a local Record Shop as a teenager and I remember this album coming out and I brought it and it became part of my wow factor list of songs.. They really didn't catch on to the mainstream here in the USA but were huge in Europe. On the album itself that song spans nearly the entire side. Being exposed to new albums as they arrived. watching you guys react brings back a great feeling from my past listening to fresh music for from all bands. watching too guys react to songs for the first time reminds me of myself.

He was in movie 'The Blues Brothers' starring John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd from the early 80's. Since you guys are music aficionados, that movie is worth checking out...lots of good music, good laughs, and a lot of cars wrecked. 10 shots right quick- Great start guys. My favorite part of the channel is how I'm hearing a lot of these songs for the first time too so it's definitely a journey. Great thing you've got going I'll be here next October for the 100k party.

      Speaking of "journey", 'Wheel In The Sky' is stellar.

    Your reaction to hocus pocus was hilarous. You should defenitley listen to more of their stuff. They are a Dutch band with Thijs van Leer on vocals and keys, Jan Akkerman on guitar, Pierre van der Linden on drums and Cyril Havermans on bass. this is proberbly their most famous song wich was cut from almost 7 minutes to 4 due to tv time. if want more, you should definitlely listen to eruption. it is a 20 minute song from the same album (focus II here in the Netherlands and moving waves everywhere else). although some parts are really clasical and are flute only, other parts are really 70's rock. it is really wordt a listen.

    Love this song by Focus, LOVE you're reaction to this, especially when he played the flute 🙌👏,
    Never heard the second song before, great music 🎸🎶😁,
    Another group I've never heard of before Tool, Love this guys voice🎤, music is amazing, 🎶 ✌will have to check more of their music.
    Never knew Heart did this version, I adore this song and lead singer has a brilliant voice, great version.🙌🎶🎤.
    Thanks for sharing this with us all. I love how you are both SO enthusiastic about music, you are both lovely guys and love to see you celebrate, and also I know it's none of my business, but PLEASE , PLEASE,
    PLEASE take care of yourselves, worry about your health, go easy on the booze dudes, ( it's ok you look like similar ages to my kids and so my mothering instincts just kicked in). ✌🙌🎶🎸🎤😄.
    Also have you heard "Black Betty" by Ram Jam.

    The greatest live led zepplin tribute song ever....ever. Saw a specific Heart concert where they played 8 zepplin songs live. I felt like I just watched a Led Zepplin concert.

      That must’ve been mind-blowing! Heart is fantastic, especially doing Zeppelin. They were nicknamed “Lil’ Zep” because they covered them so well.

    My favorite moment was when you reacted to Deep Purple's Child in Time. Right off turntable, with an unaltered live recording. Your reaction to Ian Gillan's howls was priceless.

      Ian Gillan sang the part of Jesus on the 'Jesus Christ Superstar' studio sound track. He was better, imho, than Ted Neely.

    Anyone that can listen to that led zepplin trubute without getting goose bumps something is not plugged in . They nailed that it was magic on that stage .
