    If you can't notice difference between 4k and 5k, then M8 is the way to go. I am a designer/developer and I can totally notice the pixel density right away. Totally worth it for me.

      @bren.r Год назад +1

      Yeah but 60 Hz in 2023 is just a joke. I’d rather have a 4K monitor with 144 Hz, even if it means non linear scaling.
      The fact that Apple doesn’t let you use 2 studio display speakers simultaneously, a year later, is silly. At that point, you’re getting standalone speakers, rendering the built in speakers a wasted feature.

    • @bugged1212
      @bugged1212 Год назад

      @@bren.r Sure stick to M8 then. For me personally the 5k itself is the only selling point I need. There is just no other monitor with 5k in similar or lower price range.

      I can tell, but I can’t afford the Apple. Just starting out. Maybe someday.

    Though I have a Mac Studio on order, I was never going to add the Studio display, probably for similar reasons to you: value just isn’t there. I’ve loved my late 2015 27” iMac but as a photographer primarily, it’s not what I need. I do love the glossy higher contrast display for general viewing but I also have a Benq SW 271 as a second display and for critical photo work. I will add a second Benq screen, likely the SW321C which, ironically, is a bit more than the Studio display but even more potent for photographic work. Good video.

      The Benq is a great monitor that I’ve used for work. Appreciate the comment and thank you for watching 🙏🏼

    Well worth the savings. Most people who have a MacMini or M2 MacMini are buying less expensive monitors for home setups. Dell 4k 27-inch, LG 4k 32-inch, or the Samsung M8 like this video. No major difference while still giving very good viewing quality.

    Great explainer. I have the Studio Display but only because I wanted to go speaker less on my desk. I have AudioEngine Hd3 but wanted them to be dedicated vinyl record speakers. So the monitor speakers matter for me. I also downgraded from LG Ergo Ultrafine 32 inch screen wise. I can’t believe how fast I got used to the 27 inch.

    Ordered my Mac Studio Display with nano-textured glass and height-adjustable stand on March 27th. Finally got it on June 22nd. I almost canceled! Just pretended that I didn’t order it and continued using our 4K TV as a monitor for the Mac Studio that I ordered at the same time to go with it. ✌️

    The M8 only has 100% sRGB, if you need more colours like Adobe RGB or DCI-P3. Then it’s not for you.

    Good review. As someone in the apple eco.system the studio display is the logical choice. That display will probably endure 10 years+Not worth the downgrade to save less than a $1000 USD figuring peripherals you will buy.

    I’ve done the same I canceled my apple studio and I bought the LG 40WP95 ultrawide which is fantastic for what I need, 2 monitors or one ultrawide. Before, I had the LG 5k Ultrafine (the plastic version of Apple Studio), and I can say the extra ppi on apple studio doesn’t make a lot of difference against the benefits I have with this monitor. As you, I’ve been loyal to apple’s products for decades but not this time.

  • @qtmonstertube
    @qtmonstertube 2 года назад

    One of the things I'm concerned about is the lower PPI on Samsung M8, as texts may not appear sharp enough and be a little pixelated on a 32" display. Also, due to its lighter weight compared to Apple Studio Display, does the M8 'shake' easily when you type or apply a slight pressure on the table that might cause this to happen?
    Enjoyed your video :)

      I had the m8 and immediately returned it -- the text wasn't sharp and the icon colors were washed out. Great idea and value but not great

    after all the time do you still think u made the right decision? ... cause after my research i think the m8 is a shitty display compared to the apple studio display (which is indeed too expensive, this is als why i cannot decide for the right monitor for weeks on weeks now)
    4k doesn't scale well with mac os, samsungs m8 panel doesn't look that good, it has a strange format and a really shitty build quality ... yes the price is ok, but thats all
