Just completed this repair at home after my wife mentioning the telltale symptoms and pulling P0335 with my Bluetooth OBD reader. I don’t generally attempt lifting or going under the car but this video totally helped me through the stuff once I got under there. With a set of ramps, a 10mm socket, angle pick for the tabs and a good worklight I did this in maybe 20 minutes, most of that struggling with the other clip. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for this! I was able to change mine thanks to this video and others. I paid $12.99 for the sensor itself and would have paid a garage over $400. On a side note, I called around and Auto Zone and Advanced Auto parts had the sensor for around $70-$100. A&A Auto had it for $12.99. I’m so grateful for videos like these.
Thanks so much for sharing this sir, question for you, can this be done without lifting the car all the way up???? I’m trying to do it myself from my drive way , Thanks again
Had this done in 2020 and they charged 1 hour labor. Looks like you got er done in less than 2 minutes even with interruptions from the peanut gallery. Going to have a chat with them.
@yourdollybaybeee no problem. A simple hand held scanner should clear the code or if you don't have one of those autozone or orileys may be able to clear the code or just simple undoing the battery for a few minutes should clear it . Hope it helps and if you don't mind dropping a sub that would be sweet
Nope was an hour labor and at that time we were at 102-115 an hour plus part from orileys with a 60 percent mark up and an hour diag. Think the customer left with a bill under 400 bucks.
My car has been in the shop over a week with a bad sensor. They keep replacing it and the car won't start. It will only start with the original sensor that is faulty. 2014 Sonata. Help.!
@@WhatTheDuckAuto Thanks, finally got one, and it does the same thing as the original sensor. Starts and then just sputters out. Now they think it's some kind of oil sensor or something?!
Replaced the crankshaft position sensor and now car won't start, sounds like it wants to but doesn't fire. Does the sensor need to be programmed / relearned via a scanner?
No, its verry posible that you dont have it seated correctly, if the car ran before replacement, either the new part is defective or its not seated in the hole correctly and no able to read the reluctor ring on the crank correctly
@@WhatTheDuckAuto Thanks. I've removed and reseated it quite a few times and even put in the old one (which it started with before) but now it won't start with either. Do you know how tight in the hole it needs to sit?
Will this also cause a PO017 code ? My starts and then it immediately stalls.. but if it’s cold it’ll start fine and then stall when it gets warm.. driving me crazy.. I’ve changed my camshaft positions sensor and also my pcs.. I’ve tested my 2 valves and they’re working properly.. I’m lost
@@InsomniacReviews it was the timing chain that skipped.. it’s a defect on those chains and only last less than 60k miles and they never did a recall .. scammers.. you’ll need to get a new chain and check for damage on your crank which causes a timing issue that stalls the car.. cost me $1200 to fix
Thanks man. I ended up having to pull it off the bracket from above instead of pushing it up from under. It was all ceased up and rusted onto the bracket

Yes you can!
Could this sensor cause your car to stall while hitting speed bumps?
Thank you sir. 🏆
Very welcome
Great job bro. Thanks for the precise info.
Great video bro I’ma do this on my car Thursday when the pet gets here

Usually it’s 1 hr minimum at shops. Not by the minute.
I was reading about the location of the sensor, thinking "I could do that". Uh, I don't think I can do that. Lol, but thanks for the video!
You can definitely do it . Its really not that hard. Dont give up before you try. I promise its easier than it seems
Jack it up and get under there
Is this s by the passenger or driver seat brother, what side of the car should I jack?
Thank you sir ! 😀
Most welcome!
Do you have to unhook the battery before replacing this??
Nope
Thanks!
No problem!
How long can I drive the vehicle with this issue (crankshaft sensor) would it messed up some parts of the vehicle if I don't fixed it right away?
Nope won't mess anything up. Just may die on you and not restart
Can I use a jack and work underneath it like that. I wanna know before I potentially crushed myself to death
Oh absolutely. Jacking up either side should provide adequate room to work. Always suggest using a jack stand with the jack for safety.
Will i need to get my car timed after replacing this part on my car? Its the same vehicle.
No
@@WhatTheDuckAuto forsure thank you. I was told otherwise by someone else. Thank you for the response!

Did u have reprogram the crankshaft position sensor?
Nope . Clear the mil and fire it up

Put an oem sensor in it.

Dealership charged me $4??.00 to change a part that took you less than 5 min., to change. Smh
Looking at hour labor and part cost. Oem parts and dealership labor rates can be high on top of an hour diag

You didn’t reattach the actual connector to its spot on the bracket.
At 3:22 in the video it shows me clipping it back in but thanks for watching 🤘
@@WhatTheDuckAuto Thanks
I literally don't understand how to get this freaking clip off at the connector and I don't want to break it
Push in on the connector and then push down on the release tab. You'll feel it drop down lower with your thumb. Then pull it out

@tthtonekid ahhhh some times thwy can be a real booger to remove. Ive had to replace a many conecting ends because ive broken them from being seized

@tthtonekid much appreciated man. I really make these vids for techs to youtube and the mechanically inclined diy'ers. I just hope they can help
Is it okay i lift the car one side?
Yes. Id definitely recommend utilizing a jack stand though
Bolt is rusted on mine....10mm wouldn't get around it properly.
Try a 3/8 sae socket, may get lucky
How much do you guys charge?
I think 1 hour diag .3 install
does the oil need to be drained?
No
@@WhatTheDuckAuto thanks I didnt think so but I've had enough bad luck over the past week last thing I need is a face full of oil😂
