I’d like to remind everyone that Tarzan of the apes is a literary classic that inspired superheroes and adventure and pulp literature going forward.

You know, we ought to be grateful for Disney of making their adaptation of Tarzan to be a bold, emotional and even powerful conclusion to their Renaissance era when the fine chaps at Golden Films say, 'Well how about we make our own adaptation of Tarzan but make it cheap and pathetic as possible because that is what people love about entertainment. Cheap and pathetic.' Although, I don't think they actually blatantly say that.

I’d rather deal with this awful mock buster’s music than deal with Phil Collins. Seriously, about 95% of his songs all sound exactly the same and they become irritating after you hear them all the time on the radio. Only songs of his I find tolerable are In the Air and Easy Lover. Easy Lover is tolerable only because of Phillip Bailey

@@carsonsmith7314That’s just my opinion. I’m entitled to not like a musical that others adore. I was just saying what I thought about the Disney one and why I don’t like it. I would have liked it better if Phil had allowed others perform the song. Seriously, what should have been Tarzan’s I Want song can’t be taken very seriously if we’re expected to think Phil is his inner voice, now can we? That’s like having Cinderella singing A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes with the voice of Elton John. Sometimes songs work better if someone else songs them especially if they are part of a larger narrative.

Ah yes, remember how Kerchak in the Disney film lost his original child to a vicious leopard? And how that made him extra hardened and overprotective of the other apes; thus creating resentment and alienation against Tarzan because he was the only non-ape in the family. Screw any of that nuance, he's just a dick in this version. XD

    • @kingandrewcecil348
      @kingandrewcecil348 Месяц назад +1

Well, Kerchak is a dick in the original Tarzan books though.
Disney's version of Kerchak is significantly toned down into a sympathetic antihero via having book Tublat's personality, while Disney's own Tublat is ironically a total dick for no reason like book Kerchak.
And also in the books, Tublat became extra hardened and overprotective of the apes because he lost his original child to the evil Kerchak.

Yes, in the original Tarzan book Kala and Tublat (p.s. Tublat in the book is more like a sympathetic antihero like Disney's Kerchak, not like the evil villain we see in the Disney cartoon version) original had a child which got killed by Kerchak (who ironically is like Disney's Tublat), which is why Kala adopted the recently-orphaned Tarzan out of grief.

@@kingandrewcecil348 isn’t it odd how Disney got Kerchak and Tublat swapped. The Tarzan tv series did have Tublat who was definitely the book version of Kerchak .
But to have Kala’s biological child alive and be Terk in away.

@@the-nina-beans88 Terk is a relative of Kala, not her biological child; in the book Terk is Kala's nephew, but in the Disney version Terk is Kala's niece (since Terk in the Disney version is gender-swapped as a girl, even though he is easily mistaken for a boy, which is a running joke in the TV series)

    • @the-nina-beans88

@@kingandrewcecil348 Terk is ether male… or Rosie O’Donnell
But yeah I know Terk isn’t Kala’s child. They( use this pronouns since the genders seems to swap on adaptations) are some reason made to be her bio child in the golden films adaptation

    2. Heidi's Song (1982)
    3. Newsies (1992)

    1. 7th Heaven: Red Socks
    2. Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Once More, With Feeling
    3. Cop Rock (at least the series pilot)
    4. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Alpha's Magical Christmas
    5. Sesame Street: Elmo Saves Christmas

In the magazine version of TOTA, she's quite the demeaning caricature, complete with a white man's understanding of ebonics, but ERB made a few changes when it was printed as a book, among them toning down her speech. ERB seems to have gone back and forth on racism. From writing super racist stories like Tarzan to writing super antiracist stories like Mars.
