      Philip DeFranco Cam Newton is an asshole. In other news the sky is blue and water is wet. When he has a winning record, he's a cocky bastard that's on top of the world. When he loses, he turns into an angry mess. Reminds me of Tony Stewart.

      Plenty of viewers will see this and think Cam said nothing wrong, but in a world where he could have just answered her question, he made it about the fact that it was so weird that a woman was asking him a question. It's sexist. If you can't see it, you aren't paying attention.

      Teaf Quality being the most important reason to subscribe. Also, ease of access to updated content quickly. Plus, supporting the creators. I can get loads of free music online and I do but I also buy physical copies of my favourite albums to support them and have something physical for a collection. Paying for a service has a similar support ethos.

      Easy access is the primary goal, especially for someone that wants access to restricted content but isn't tech savvy. Also, an access point for child pornography (and similar trash) are child pornography rings but, typically, in order for someone to join a ring, they're deluged in images and/or asked to contribute their own material to prove they aren't investigating rings. The equivalent of doing a line before a dealer will sell to you.

    I hate the argument that if you're just consuming but not creating the wrong thing it isn't as bad. Whether it's pirating, viewing hacked celebrity photos, or the glee guy, etc, you consuming it creates the motivation for someone else to produce it. Just like with any business, there is no product without consumers

    • @SogMosee
      @SogMosee 7 лет назад +4

      This is exactly the argument for killing farm animals. Sure people think castrating pigs, raping cows with rape racks, using gas chambers on dogs, and stomping on flocks of baby chickens with giant boots is wrong, but yet those same people still buy bacon, dairy milk, and chicken wings.

    • @kingpotato9872
      @kingpotato9872 7 лет назад +5

      SogMosee, I know that animal maltreatment is a very large problem, but I think you might be being a little hyperbolic.

    • @SogMosee
      @SogMosee 7 лет назад

      It's literally the exact same thing, but I understand your position. You grew up and lived your whole life such that eating the body parts of those animals has always been considered normal, so I don't expect you to see that it is in fact, not a hyperbole at all.
      Cows have their necks slit and their ribs ripped out of them simply because people consume their ribs. Pigs have their necks slit and are hung upside down to bleed out simply because people consume their body fat. If people did not consume these things, there would be no market and thus no sellers. It is the same exact thing the OP is identifying.

    • @yunusahmed2940
      @yunusahmed2940 7 лет назад +1

      Arthur Durham That's like vegans saying you should stop consuming meat because you're fueling bad companies. There will always be consumers, so one person more or less doesn't make a difference.

    • @cobrasteel488
      @cobrasteel488 7 лет назад +1

      Arthur Durham, I think your point is correct, and I believe almost everyone can agree that child pornography is terrible.
      That being said, an important part of every argument is to apply the same logic to different situations and see if it holds. If the supply/demand argument is to be made here, would you also agree that those who watch shows/news reports about murder or crime should be held responsible for those illegal acts being carried out by mass shooters/terrorists? What about listening to music that does the same?
      Again, I’m against child porn, but am interested to hear your thoughts.

    I have to say, as a long time fan that has watched you grow your business, I am always impressed with your ads. I don't think many people notice that the audible ad was an entire minute because it is something you actually use, you promote the book club, and told us a story about your family. It's a great way of integrating content into your ad space, and it shows integrity because of the products you choose. I've been watching for almost ten years now I think it's incredible how far you've come. Congrats to your success Phil, you desserve it!

      Benign_Canine is correct. To be more specific though, intersex people are born as neither fully male or fully female, but rather somewhere in the middle with a mix of the two attributes. Women with facial hair, men with breasts, and most commonly of all, deformed genitalia. It's fairly rare, but still more common than you'd think.

If you don't often see females doing something, especially if it's orientated towards male audience, I think the quite natural response is to be surprised. What wouldn't be ok is if you told them they don't belong there because they are a women etc. He was quite rude in the way he said it though, sounded very malicious so I'm not exactly defending him, but feels like people are pretending we dont live in a world that is at least somewhat "sexist" There's nothing wrong with knowing that sexs are just naturally different, just as long as u know that not every person of a sex does one thing, or has to do something because it's right in your mind.

    Netflix could double their fee and still be the cheapest alternative simply because you get the whole season at once. If for example you want to watch Westworld (10 episodes, 1 episode a week) as it premiers you have to pay for at least 2 months, with a show on Netflix you either pay nothing or 1 month assuming you don't take more then a month to watch it.

    As someone a female who does various things but among them, sports marketing. I have numerous times encountered many people who, even after I express my love of sports, belittle me and call this passion "cute" "adorable" or even "endearing." I find his comments incredibly offensive. I am not someone who is offended by much. Had he been joking or said it in a way that implied it was not to be taken seriously I might have a different perspective. But he was sheepishly looking down, knowing full well he should not say what he said. His body langue speaks volumes.

    • @nickys5578

      So what he said was sexist yet there are NO MAJOR LEAGUE FEMALE FOOTBALL TEAMS... Sports in the USA are sexist. Male sports are put first, take over colleges, and matter more than peoples health care here! I am with him. No woman can understand his game because no woman can play at those levels of competition. We can't TRULY understand it but I think that goes for reporters anyway like he said later. Now just to be clear I mean no woman has the opportunity to ever play at the level that men are expected to play at.

    • @CynChamplin
      @CynChamplin 7 лет назад

      Only there is no regulation preventing women from joining the NFL. A woman even tried out for the NFL but did not make the cut. So yes everyone has the opportunity to play at that level but 99.999% of men and women are not cut out for the physical demands that are needed to make the teams. Football is not sexist. While I know many people would like to say that male physicality vs female physicality is just a societal perception, it is not and science has proven that time and time again. While I am a massive fan of Premier League Football, that league is more sexist than most professional leagues in the United States. Unlike in US leagues there is a regualtion regarding sex for Premier League teams. Men on one team women on the other, no mixing.

    He didn't take the photos, no. But he altered his IP address in order to participate in the victimization of young children. He is just as sick and just as criminal as the people creating the images. This isn't something he stumbled into by accident- this is a conscientious act that he put effort into covering up from authorities. To say his punishment is light is an understatement in my opinion.

    • @lunacouer
      @lunacouer 7 лет назад

      I agree completely. Someone took these photos, and by participating in downloading *tens of thousands* of these images, that photographer gets paid. A lot. From taking pictures of 4 year-olds in sexual positions.
      People wouldn't deal in child porn if there wasn't a fucking market for it. So, he might as well have been the person physically doing this to children.
      I'm glad his punishment is harsher than I've seen before. I don't think any punishment would ever be enough, though, to feel like justice has been done.

    • @zebenno
      @zebenno 7 лет назад

      I don't think an IP address is as important as you think it is. Changing your IP address, in this case, is like sending illegal substances to your house with someone elses name on the package, in a world without names. Unless his address was already being monitored in a really improper way, which I doubt, it has no relevance.

    • @seigeengine
      @seigeengine 7 лет назад

      Except he didn't participate in it. This is just blame shifting. Of course he tried to hide it: it had the potential to ruin the rest of his life.
      Your opinion is retarded, and tantamount prosecuting drug addicts for participating in the illegal drug trade. Wait, let me guess, you think that's sound logic and a drug addict is just as bad as a drug cartel?

    • @beethebeautyartist
      @beethebeautyartist 7 лет назад +1

      I guess what I'm saying is that by doing something like messing with the IP address, it is making the decision seem much more methodical. It's a conscious act that he is doing to allow himself freer access to a very illegal set of images.

    • @zebenno
      @zebenno 7 лет назад

      When you are trying to evade a government simply changing your IP address does not make you any more free. Things like VPNs would not even be very useful and protocols like TOR, well, that would probably be the reason you get caught. I understand your point of actively trying to avoid detection but simply "changing your IP" is not an indication of guilt, many people do it who are privacy conscious.

    I think Cam is in the wrong AND it's not a big deal. The two concepts are not mutually exclusive. His comment was stupid and insensitive, and he should come to understand/regret that and change his world-view. But who can honestly claim they _haven't_ said something stupid and insensitive at one point or another? The Cam twitter history is a perfect example. I don't think she's racist, I think she said something dumb before she thought it through. Humans make mistakes, and semi-ambiguous offhanded comments are pretty low on the seriousness scale. I'm sure it's even easier to say something dumb when your every word is analyzed/recorded by massive audiences. I'm not saying we give either of them "a free pass". Just that this type of thing doesn't warrant the type of social crucifixion the media will shamelessly seize for click cash.
    Also I'm a little tired of this "abandon ship" sponsorship ideology. It's impossible to tell if these companies are honestly morally compelled or if they're just afraid association with someone will hurt the brand. It's a subtle difference but it means a lot to me. If they honestly disagree with his comments they should drop him. If they honestly don't give a crap, they shouldn't. I understand _why_ they operate this way but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

    The whole Cam Newton thing is so overblown. He clearly meant that people who aren't professionals in football may think they understand football, but they don't truly know all that goes into it. For example, I work in mechanical engineering, a trade dominated by men. If I heard a woman talking about dies used in press work, I would find it funny if she just thought it was 2 pieces of metal slamming into one another. Many jobs seem simple on the surface that actually takes years to understand. Mistakes in word choice shouldn't lead to a person being crucified. Remember what many people forget: famous athletes and celebrities are still people.

      Tim Evans People say things incorrectly. Everyone has misspoken and put their foot in their mouth at some point in life before. Just because he's famous, he shouldn't be ostracized for wording something incorrectly. Plus, since she's a woman, she's clearly never played organized football at a professional level. Thus, she has no way of having the expertise needed to know what she's talking about.

    I didn't see Cam's response as crack against her specifically. He laughed and said it sounded funny to him (which it clearly did) and he laughed. He clearly hasn't had a lady ask him about routes too often so when a female asked about it- it sounded different than what he's used to hearing. Note- he didn't say, "That's funny- I didn't think women knew ANYTHING about football" or "Who let this dumb lady in here?!" It's usually guys who ask these sorts of questions and a female voice struck him as funny- or different, if you will. If Cam started talking to her about the newest palette from Smashbox, I'm sure he'd have gotten a laugh from a lady or two as well. Soon no one will ever talk about ANYTHING because SOMEONE is guaranteed to be offended by something you might have said, could have said or what they THOUGHT you might could have said. It's sad.
