You say that like its not a necessity, there would be no need to looksmax if the halo effect wasn't so prevalent or if nature benefitted ugly people in any way.
You are unwilling to admit other people have more controll over our lives, and individuals have less than we admit.
Beyond dating this goes for job interviews, social settings/aquiring friends etc.

Im a 5’3 Puerto Rican guy and lemme tell you what I understand to be the message I receive. So at my height not only am I told to kms or to become a ladyboy, but I’m also told it would be unethical for me to have kids. This “ultra optimization of genes” era we now live in is going to push more and more people into depression, anxiety, and dare I say, suicide. No thanks, I’ll put the phone down and focus directly on myself.

When I was much younger I was known as the pretty/cute guy in school. A lot of girls crushed on me and hit on me. And there were two girls in particular who used to follow me around during gym class and call me "sexy eyes". I was very shy back then, so I didn't really handle the attention well, but I still received it. Once I got to high school, I had a pretty serious bike accident that left with me with a large scar on my chin. It was a huge hit to my confidence and a lot of the female attention I previously received went away. I was depressed and had body dysmorphia for a good while. I had this thought that maybe once I get to college people will be wiser and less superficial. Boy was I wrong. People were more superficial and technology amplified that. I struggled with dating and self-image issues pretty much the entirety of college and I also started balding at 20 which made me even more insecure. I was borderline suicidal for a good chunk of college. It has been rough because I see everything around me just getting increasingly superficial and I saw how much looks affected my life. I wish it wasn't that way and our society just found a way to remove this huge source of suffering for people, but we haven't. And honestly I think most people don't care about lookism being an issue, mainly because selecting for attractiveness is something so hard wired into our DNA.

Looksmaxing epicdemic is mainly caused by Wmn high standards and social media giving them the choice to pick the top genes. Back in our parents day, it was pretty easy as an average guy to find an average girl at a young age and marry young. Now wmn have so many choices due to apps and SM, they will naturally try to pick and fight tooth and nail for the best they think they can get (doesn't have to be models, probably two points above their looks).
This leaves lots of man with nothing until they hit 30-35 that's when w start wanting to settle down. In fact, there was a cool broad population (random sampling) study showing that most Young M were single and most young W were not single.
There's another study (with the same methodology) saying that almost 70 percent of relationships now start online.

I’m not a looksmaxxer type of person but I am a personal trainer and the pressure to look “like a personal trainer” that people idealize at all times is real. People will actually make comments about it - usually the ones that don’t understand that when you are sweaty, full pump (often supplemented), in good lighting and flexing and taking 10 photos and using one good one isn’t the same as walking around in regular clothes with no pump out somewhere. Also the unrealistic expectations they have already of what a personal trainer “should” look like. I don’t worry about it as much as I used to but it’s still on my mind often.

Goes for both sexes but maybe even harsher for men nowadays with dating apps. Nothing wrong with cleaning up one's appearance by having healthy routines (diet, excercise, going outside etc. ) but the difficult thing is where do we set the limit... I myself have had braces, had a hairtransplant and quitted caffeine (gave me dry and itchy skin and lips) and feel good about those changes.

Reminds me of the book "The uglies". In that universe everyone goes through a specific cosmetic procedure to make them more "attractive" (ie exactly the same as everyone else). Later on in the book you discover the consequences of the procedure. In many ways that sort of world is becoming reality. Everyone is so desperate to become MORE, but at what cost?. MORE attractive, MORE wealthy, MORE popular etc. There's no end to it and it isn't until the consequences show up to bite everyone in the ass that they regret it. But by then it's too late...

One line that struck me is that when you focus on developing more areas of your life and expanding your interests you will feel more confident without the need to enhancing your looks, as so they won't be an obstacle in your life. It resonated with me as when I was young, I felt so insecure because of the dark circles under my eyes because it made me feel like an old man. I would avoid eye contact with people. My voice would unintentionally sound dim and tired "like an old man". Real, your insecurities and fears can affect your behavior and personality. It always made me feel inadequate and awkward when I was about to act like a child. It ruined me. But once I got into self-improvement: going to the gym, practicing gratitude, reading psychology books, connecting with deep people and having deep conversations with my family as well as focusing on my future and my daily life have improvemaxxed my life. I didn't give my eyes a thought since then and the once painful self consciousness eradicated. Felt confidence going through my body like crazy and stopped capitalizing on what superficial people think and say abt me

      You're being delusional man.
He is trying to convince you your looks don't matter in other areas of life but that is false. The halo effect and genetic determinism is very real as is the inverse concept of it from jobs, how many friends you make, dating, how easily things come to you, even how much muscle you put on in the gym and how those muscles appear or how quickly you lose weight is effected by your genetics. Even body builders and anyone else that takes steroids is victim to this.
The only way to not have your looks affect your life is to live in complete solitude which is really just other people pushing you away and even how well you handle the solitude is dictated by your genetics

There no amount of "focusing on yourself bro!" that's gonna make up for you knowing people feel disgusted by you on an instinctual level as soon as they see you. Did doing all that manage to distract you from this horrible reality at least a bit? Good for you. But we have to be honest here and admit that if you're unattractive you miss out on lot crucial things and just focusing elsewhere won't make the cut. This is what happens when people don't have a purpose. They focus on hyper specific details expecting they will solve their entire life problems. • @DestroAzureDx
      @DestroAzureDx 5 месяцев назад +7

This is a lie. Your life will worsen with a misshapen nose amongst other features.
You're hyperfixating saying it people obsessing over 1 feature. First it could be valid that that feature ruins your entire facial attractiveness or contribute to other features being worse. For example a huge nose is rarely helpful to a face. Another example of the latter is how having protruding ears can affect your headshape.
The issue is people still have hope after realising thier less pleasant features. If they didnt have that they wouldn't do things like bonesmashing and accept they're ugly and most people are going to reject them.

    • @ricardvs7329
      @ricardvs7329 5 месяцев назад +5

@@DestroAzureDx My point is: if someone has a fulfilled life let's say a family, friends, hobbies a nice job, and so on, they will not focus on trivial things they can barely control and don't matter like a small facial "deformity". Fixing someone's life rarely has anything to do with how attractive they are unless that person is genuinely ugly and hard to look at.
The problem with hyper fixating on details that don't matter is that you start viewing all your problems through that lens. This can become a self fulfilling prophecy of low self esteem because of X thing and when getting rejected the justification is "it HAS to be because of this detail I personally obsess over". Kinda like people who think that every criticism has to do with their skin colour, gender and so on. It screams no self awareness.
This is something looksmaxing fosters. If you're thinking of doing it either you are really ugly (which fair enough) or you're very unfulfilled because the thought of optimizing your face shouldn't cross your mind.
Although taking care of yourself and improving your looks is greatly recommended a big part of maturing is accepting you will never be perfect. That, ironically makes you someone way more attractive than someone who obsesses over details that no one will ever notice except you. Part of being confident is, paradoxically, being ok with your imperfections while still trying to become better. And by becoming better, focusing solely on looks is not becoming better, it's becoming shallow

Looksmaxxing doesn't foster it it is the product and cause and effect of competing for women or even just female validation. Ontop of what makes a good life. What we glorify in music etc. People take it as direct proof of how desired you are unless you are attractive.
None of this is my opinion it is simply fact dictated by peoples actions/ reactions.
Lastly I'll say it again, most of the things you listed outside of sometimes a jobare heavily impacted by your looks, your parents may push you to do certain things depending on your looks, be that if you look good or bad, you may not have any friends due to your demenor from how you were treated in the past/currently, the people you're surrounded with may like something you can't truly partake in due to your looks like partying and clubbing they may not even want you around if they're trying to meet new people or pick up girls or they may want you around just to make themselves look better.

that would be the solution to school shooters , bullying and most of our social problems. If women were educated from an early age about what they're attracted to and why they're only attracted to a small percentage of men , this would have a huge impact on the top percent in looks man and thus would balance out dating.
Women are unaware most men are unattractive because they are invisible, they only have eyes for attractive (top 5-10%) of men and this creates a supply-demand issue...all women being part of the rotation of those top 5-10% men making those man players (much harder for them to commit due to the large amount of options these men have) and making the rest of men miserable.
If women could understand the 80-20 rule , they will make MUCH better choices when it comes to relationships.

It’s widely accepted that men prioritise looks in women, and thus have products to improve their appearance (makeup, etc), so why can’t men increase theirs without ridicule? I know people think face ratings are weird but at the end of the day certain ratios on faces are objectively attractive. People in general only care about and will treat you according to looks, something I learnt the hard way, both good and bad. I went from being seen as a loser to then getting direct compliments on my looks once I started taking care of myself. I am pretty sure mewing doesn't work at my age anymore (mid 20's) for improving facial features, but I guess it's worth doing for other benefits. And if it happens to improve facial features down the line that's a nice bonus

Mewing works, at least it is for me and I am 42 years old. I have been doing it for a little over 2 months and my haw line is way better, my cheek bones are more chiseled and my under eye support is better, my teeth are stronger and straighter and my double chin is almost gone.

Hi men, your inner beauty radiates. You can't hide it from those who see. And we respond. Much love to you

Nobody talks about the other side of being "extremely attractive". You let go of yourself, shave your head bald because you can't handle the pressure that comes with it. It's mentally tiring getting attention everytime you go out I just want to feel normal & treated like a normal person

I had that treatment for 2 yrs of my life. Felt like a leper. No joke, took a major bump to my mental health. Couldnt even have a normal dining in a restaurant without people staring and looking hypnotized. It definitely should be talked more how we need beautiful people to be respected in their privacy.

Hey Cole, waht's your opinion on leg lengthening surgery? And would you do a video about it?
It's probably hard to relate for you at 6'2.
But I have empathy for guys who are like 5'5 or shorter and are living in europe for example.
I live in Scandinavia where the average male height is just shy of 6ft (182cm) and I feel tiny being 5'8.
I don't know if this topic is relevant enough for you to make a whole video about it, but I would definitely be interrested

Too specific for me to make a whole video on. I personally think it's very dangerous and not worth the benefits, though I am biased.

It's like steroids, or lying on your resume. It's fake. It won't provide you with lasting satisfaction.
