I have been using Ryobi tool for years. I'm a home DIY'er and do much of my own work on the cars and boat. Ryobi has not failed me. They are affordable and work well for the weekend warrior and more. Great vid!!!
I'm 63 and have just about every tool imaginable but if I was a young kid starting my collection this would be awesome. I could imagine a young couple just starting out in first home finding tons of use for this. Would be great for over head work.
I have been using Ryobi tools for years with no issues, and they are affordable.
Love when they come out with new products.
It does kinda beg the question, why not include an impact-less mode for the multi-mode impact driver?
And that is a good question. Wish more would ask good questions like this
Because that means you buy less tools, NOT more. The point is to sell more tools. Useless tools (coming from someone who has a Ryobi ratchet, even tho I already have a dewalt and m12, a Ryobi misting fan, even tho I already have a DeWalt fan and Ego misting fan, a Ryobi mid p262 impact wrench, even tho I have the DeWalts already, and a couple other Ryobi drills and impact drivers, even tho I already have a few DeWalts, M12s, Metabo and Kobalts…..the list goes on). But I do like some of the Ryobi tools that everyone else is afraid to make. This particular driver just seems to have way too much crossover to other items I already have.

Genius. I personally would love to see that and have the impact mechanism be like Milwaukee’s surge. I’d also like to see larger surge based impact wrenches rather than just a 1/4 inch driver.
I’m in your camp on this! I’ve had the pair of Ryobi drill/driver for many years. I’ve used up a few batteries in that time. Never have either tools failed me. They have fallen from ladders, dropped off my work bench, and been accidentally kicked across the shop. Both still work fine.
Hey, finish carpenter and woodworker here. I use an impact driver constantly lol
Definitely like still having a clutch on screwdriver with the quick bit change. The M12 and little Bosch screwdrivers do have that benefit. I blasted too many screw heads through pieces with my impact and that M12 has been a surface-saver. Nice to have in the Ryobi line something between the big guns and the little USB screwdriver. Keep on keeping on, Clint. Real nice like as usual!
Awesome feedback Aaron 👍 👊👊👊
Your video's highlighting different manufacturer's and tools is awesome. Even if I have no use for "X" tool, now I know it exists. You never know when you might and now I know it's out there in the world. Screw the negative comments. Keep up the good work.
Really appreciate this comment Jeep. Everyone uses a different platform, so I never understood why so many get so upset when they see a different brand on the channel. I'd be limited to only Klein wire strippers if I listened 👊🤣
That's one of the nice things about the Flex and Milwaukee. They can take quite a bit of torque before they start impacting, which on setting one has worked great for delicate work.
Whoever said "I never drive screws with an impact, only a drill" should not be in the trades, period.
That statement offended me.
They should seek professional help and probably not buy anymore power tools from any brand until they've been educated on how to use them properly.
I think it’s a wonderful tool probably perfect for me since my project’s are small.
I rack server’s and I need a little drill that’s not too heavy. Quarter inch drive size is widely available for both drills and screwdriver bits or small sockets.
Thanks for bringing the tools brother! It's much appreciated!
I've been waiting for an 18 volt or 20 volt screwdriver with no impact function for a while. I use the works Worx Switchdriver Nitro and Love it!
I bought a Ryobi multi tool set years ago that I've added to. All the tools still work after over 20 years. It's been a great value priced set of tools for the occasional project. I like the idea of the screwdriver.
I will buy it when it's available. The money I saved using Ryobi tools for drywall and saving goes towards moonshine and videogames.
🤣👊
People in society today love to hate and complain.
I just would NOT focus on the haters. I have better things to do in life.
Personally....I enjoy everything Ryobi. I have a basement filled with their tools. I enjoy your content. Keep up the great work
It's wild. Everyday I scratch my head reading comments from people that get all worked up over drills and Sawa. It's the strangest thing 🤷🤣
I just found your channel in my feed, and I watched this video. I like your style, and I think you're funny! I have subscribed.
Thanks Keith and welcome to the channel brother 👊
Milwaukee makes something similar but isn't as big. IMO a tool like that should be smaller because you probably are going to use it in tighter situations.
As for screwdriver description, I think of a smaller and straight design or slightly angled over a 90° angled tool
Just heads up, both Rigid and Milwaukee are made by the same company as RYOBI. All the power tool brands at Lowes is B&D Stanley products.
Fun fact: At least some Ryobi chucks have a hex bit "receptacle" at the bottom, so you can just click in a (long) bit, or a bit holder for quick changes. Took me a while before I discovered it by accident...
I already had the M12 version, but love how Ryobi offers so many options, at a more affordable price. Hang in there with the YT shorts. I didn't see the value of them at first, but have recently found them to be an excellent tool for quick learning, if you watch the right channels, like this one right-chere!
Haha, thanks for the comment Redeye 🤣👊
Thank you. With me having four cordless drills & six impact drivers , I don’t have any problems. I don’t need to change drill bits to screw driver bits. Some people can benefit from the drill/ driver. Have a blessed day today 😆
Haha, with all thise drills and impacts, I'd say you are set James 🤣👊
Haters will hate no matter what. I’m a Hilti guy and I’m leaning to Ryobi for some things.
It's so strange. It's not like someone is telling them that can't use their favorite brand or something 🤷🤣👊
@@ToolReviewZone the gun community has fan boys. Glock Sig etc. maybe you tripped on a fan boy mine😂
I have the M12 version of this and love it. Good video as always
My impact driver rarely gets used. I used to use an ancient m12 screwdriver to drive screws but the new m18 compact drill is much smaller lol. But the m12 is still my go to for small electronic repair and other low torque applications. They definitely have their uses.
I want this drill for the drill brush I use around the house. The quick change hex chuck will be nice for that
HI TOOL REView my question to you I am not sure if the impact driver is goo for certain think I think my current belief is to use impact wrench with hex bits would you suggest I BY this since most of my tool are ryobi it will be easy to use the same battery I would want to save money as tool only batteries are expensive!
Another great explained video! Thanks bro. Never shoot the messenger!
I know alot of our service guys like the Milwaukee version ,they use them so they dont strip the sheet metal screws out on equipment.
It seems like a low power, smaller drill. Which is fine, but it seems like a very niche need.
Yeah absolutely. As mentioned, I don't think it's for everyone, but either is a chainsaw. I just wish more people could leave a level headed statement like your's 🤣👊
I have the Worx switch driver that i have the drill bit and screwdriver bit.
Great tool to hang pictures or window blinds etc.
i have an old 9v dewalt drill running on a 12v battery, it will snap your arm off at the elbow running fasteners, but takes all day to drill a 1/8 hole in steel
I have a Ryobi drill and impact driver. Both are good tools and each have their place. If I just want to slam a screw in and not worried about looks but just want that screw to hold something together, the impact driver wins. The bit stays in the screw better. Of course if the screw is a bevel head screw it can split the wood if it's too close to the end of a board. A pilot hole and counter sink works better to prevent splitting. I also have a DeWalt set. I got the second set because my daughter was all the time borrowing the Ryobi set. Then she bought her own Ryobi set. Some things I like about both brands. I like your video and the humor you include.
Like this tool! Wish this was a hp tool. It looks very use full! Thanks you for the videos!
Very well done
People who love to hate Ryobi are the type of people who think Home Depot created the brand.
( fyi Ryobi used to make fishing reels before making tools )
I like Ryobi, most of the standard stuff is more than adequate for a DIY role, the Ryobi days means decent deals on batteries plus a free tool, and they have the largest overall tool line with every kind of cordless power tool you could want.
A lot of it may not be impressive, but it's reliable in my experience and the battery format has been the same for almost 30 years.
It's not all great and the cordless jigsaw I bought is pretty much incapable of cutting a straight line, but I wouldn't be surprised if that model has already been replaced with something less terrible.
I would use it for setting screws in hinges etc
I use my impact wrench for work on my car/truck, drilling holes and driving screw. Best tool investment!
Is there a Brushless version available?
I’ve used Hilti and Milwaukee tools for most of my life, starting when I was in my teens and an apprentice electrician.
I never questioned price, I just wanted a tool that was “the best” in its class.
I’m getting older and bought my first Ryobi tool during the “Fauci LockDown Years”, a bolt cutter.
I have since bought nothing but Ryobi.
I've had this tool for 10 years and I've never used this one I love their sausals. I love their circular saws. They're oscillating to the are radios they're grinders.
I have maybe purchased. 20 different ryobi, batteries or more.
Appreciate this video
If this is a low torque drill, then it serves a good purpose. I use ryobi, and I was reassembling some plastic parts with the lowest torque setting on my drill, and it's still over drove the screws. So since I'm doing this kind of work a lot, now I'm in the market for a low torque screwdriver
I don't think anyone with any amount of experience and brains will use an impact driver in delicate woodworking, and those same people (with experience and brains) also understand that you most definitely can use an impact driver to drive screws in other scenarios if you're reasonably careful, they're very fast and therefore convenient. The people giving you a hard time are lacking in experience and brains and are rather short-sighted. That said, for someone not needing or having an impact driver, but only an inexpensive drill/driver, this fits the bill nicely, especially if you already have other Ryobi tools and the batteries. The quick-connect collet is so nice!
I have the Milwaukee M12 version and I use it just for removing and re installing interior automotive trim and automotive parts that doesn’t need a whole lot of torque, I even use it for some assembly is required furniture.
Smeeesh that like button. 👀👉🏼 👍🏽
Cool you paid 3x for over kill, milwaukee is the most powerful brand on the market hands down and your doing kiddy work with it lol
Love it. I got me a 12V drill driver like that in the Hercules line (oh my gosh... Harbor Freight alert) and I love using it. It's about a pound lighter than my Rigid impact driver AND it is nicer to the screwed into material.....
I use Ryobi tools. For the most part they work for me. Have only had one fail. It was their small 18v light weight string trimmer. Simply because we over used and abused it and wore it out. Went out and bought a new one of the same tool and perfectly happy.
The battery base sticks out further than the collet (yes you can throw on a 2" to 6" power bit) but i think they could have put the battery backwards and it would have better form factor.
Can't disagree with that
..Watched the whole thing because of the title. Have a similar Milwaukee too.
I used my 887 dewalt inpact druver drive in screws on hardyboard
Never impacted
Learned to master the speed trigger
On speed 3 top speed
Did very good
Something interesting I recently learned is that all Ryobi tools sold here in the US but also everywhere except for Asia have no connection to Ryobi Japan. It's been that way for a long time, how long I can't remember exactly, but I believe it is around the 20+ years mark. They are designed and manufactured by a company in and from China with no influence from the original Ryobi company (Japanese) as that Chinese company acquired all licensing rights.
In 2018 the original Ryobi Japanese company sold off their power tools division, name and all to a different Japanese company. The company that acquired the division, rebranded it to its own name and now sells the genuine Japanese Ryobi power tools under their own branding in at least the Japanese market but perhaps also the entire Asian market.
I hope that all made sense. But in an effort to be concise
TLDR- Since around 20+ years ago there have basically been two Ryobi power tool brands:
1) those made by the original Japanese company and available only to the Asian market
2) those made by a Chinese company and available to everywhere but the Asian market
The two companies have no connection or influence on one another, they only share the same brand name.
After being sold in 2018, the Ryobi Japan power tools were rebranded and at least in the Japanese market aren't sold under the Ryobi branding anymore.
So now the only Ryobi power tools available are the Chinese ones, but those still aren't available in Asia.
Nice, it's like an impact driver without the impacts
Ryobi may not have the prestige of being a professional tool, but they do make it affordable to have a power tool to get a job done. When it comes to lawn care,I went with Ryobi. They have a full line of battery powered tools. the 40 Volt tools have plenty of power and run time. Plus they have been at Home Depots forever.
THIS is my impact driver control sir! (wiggling trigger finger in the air) ... smFh
That tool idea was one of Milwaukee's reject ideas.😂
REAL NAS LIKE
Tee shirt???
Where can I get one?
Thank you
Drills are good for one thing: drilling. Not driving screws. I own and use a ryobi 4 mode impact driver, that has a low speed mode for fine work, and it's designed for driving screws. That's what it's good at.
They have an impact driver and a drill, this is really just a screw driver. I have a large selection of RYOBI tools. This is a pass unless in a Pack but useful if you have it. The drills with the varriable chuck does the same job. I have often used two at the same time to save with swapouts of drill and driver bits. The one advantage here is it does look a bit lighter for the driving job. Like I said I have a few drills and an Impact driver so this is an inbetween I don't need but if I was setting up a work line with one person just driving it might make sense just to avoid swap outs and confusing tools. It does look too much like the impact model though and may be why people complained is they bought the wrong tool and expected an impact driver. Or thought you were using one if from vids. The best thing with RYOBI is reliable batteries and an interchange that stays the same to update or replace at need rather than needing to reinvest in an entire line like all the Black and Decker Stanley lines (every line at lowes) They all have a slide pack and change the post between lines. Right now they push the latest line they bought and changed craftsman. I gave them up when old firestorm batteries started failing brand new right after they bought porter cable. Friends had the same problem after they bought another legacy brand with bad QC on batteries. Just my personal experience and there is a few areas RYOBI could improve but they work for me.
This was your best video ive seen in a while... Keep up the great work!.... I hate shorts... Stop doing them!
I don't get how this is different from an impact driver? Impact drivers have the same collet and can also take that drilling bit, and if you don't hold the trigger all the way in they don't start the hammering action. I've been doing the exact thing you've shown with my makita driver and the same pilot drilling bit.
This thing is just a pistol-grip electric screwdriver, with a collet like any electric screwdrivers.
Thank you for going over this. Did not see they had released a screw driver. For quickie jobs (stop giggling) and fine wood working, this has a real place. And go screw (haha) the haters. They don’t matter. The only thing I really don’t like is how you pronounce Ryobi, but, hey, that’s how YOU prefer to pronounce it. It’s your choice. Have a great one and keep up the informative and fun content. You are much appreciated.
Hey, what brand were those sweet, sweet hex drill bits, In that sexy teal case? I must gnome.
Thing looks great for the average homeowner who isn't doing often or large home projects.
Not my cup of tea...& I'd argue most people would be better served with an impact alone...but I could see it being more than sufficient for most homejobbers.
Ryobi needs a 12v line. Electric/ cordless Screwdrivers Make more sense in small compact form. And more control over the speed. A clutch and speed control at least is needed on it for an 18volt.
Forget about the driver, I can't believe you had the nerve to film with that picnic table in the background. Wtf?? 😂😂😂
I can do better, I will do better 😪
I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU WOULD USE AN IMPACT BIT ON A SCREW DRIVER!
Unless I need to drill a hole/pre drill, I go for the impact driver. Idk why so many people get butt hurt over impacts. Whatever works for you
It's an impact driver without the impact. I just don't get it.
I like it. Finally a use for those wimpy small ryobi batteries.
I'm a huge fan of the dcf601. Screw driver like this is great. But I feel like this screw driver missed the mark with no clutch. It would make it more versatile for different fastener installations.
I have the DCF601 also and i really like it. I agree about the no clutch on the Ryobi one also. I think i'll keep my Dewalt.
Appreciate the well thought out comment 👍 👊
Ok I’m not very good at math so if I leave 2 positive comments does it make a negative, or do I have to divide by 3?? The wife actually likes this because she doesn’t want multiple tools, when she doesn’t use it all the time. But we all know haters gonna hate brother. Keep up the content.
Wow Mike, I just tried to work out the math and my brain exploded 🤯 🤣👊👊
@@ToolReviewZone lmao
But this tool is still a dud because it doesn’t have an adjustable clutch, which is the whole point of using a drill to drive screws.
The intro 🤣🤣

Screw the haters! This is an excellent ikea furniture drill
I don’t know what the big deal is about this! Milwaukee has had that for years in the M12 line and I love mine! I’m just surprised it took so long for Ryobi to come out with one.
My only issue with the Milwaukee screw gun was that it was brushed and not brushless. Yes I know about the fuel installation driver and I do have it and it’s great. But it’s still not a good as a dedicated screw gun. The reason why I don’t want a brushed one is I’ve actually worn out the brushes on two of my previous screw guns and while I could get new brushes, the com of the motors was usually trashed. I took one apart and actually recut the com but then I had to resize the brushes which then didn’t fit right in the end bell and it was just a pain. I wish Milwaukee, or Ryobi, or Ridgid would make a dedicated brushless screw gun in. I’m aware this Ryobi is brushed as well but I wouldn’t even consider it just because it’s awfully big and it doesn’t have a clutch. A good screw gun needs a clutch. At least in my worthless opinion.
I’m still brushed M12 screw driving for one and only one reason vs. M12 installation driver: normal forward and reverse switch. That weird top control might be something I’d get used to using, but so much muscle memory. Still not sure why Milwaukee did that.
@@AaronPickering completely agree. The top control is just dumb.
It is funny how grown men will get all in their feelings with their panties in a twist over nothing at all. It’s not a tool I would use, but I’m not butt hurt that Ryobi made it either.🤷🏾♂️🤣
It's crazy right
Milwaukee M12 Screwdriver. Game over.
I miss tool tip tuesday. Just the tip mind you.
Congratulations to anybody who stayed to the end...
BEST TOOL EVER MADE !!! RYOBI'S THE BEST TOOL BRAND EVERRRRRRR !!!!!
Its not a BAD tool, but for the price, their usb lithium line has a much much better option, with the installation driver. It handles delicates well and has the multiple heads for hard to reach spots.
The other arguement ive heard is its too expensive. Which is also fair because a hypertough drill kit is 20 bucks and will take care of every homeowners needs
All right Clint enuff of the R"i"bi vs R"ee"bo stuff by now. Guess that is your stick though. : )
Hahaha, seen this comment many times 😂
Im surprised its 60 with a battery. Real nice like.
I like your videos.
I am here to hear opinions even if I am not liking the tool hope that is OK!
Always welcome here 👊
I have the 12 volt Milwaukee equivalent I like it.
I hope ridgid comes out with that!!!
I like it.
I don't know why some people have to be such tools when talking about tools... but here we are.
Cool Clint 😎
I dont care about the format...I just want more Clint....and more tool tip Tuesday!!!!
For freeeeeee yeah!!!!
Why doesn’t the ryobi have a clutch?
Requesting Ryobi nor riyobi that it could explore and start selling in India . We have a market too
Jeez what got these folks bits in a twist?
I thought an impact driver was a driver. A hammer drill is a drill. Impact drivers will put TimberLocks through railroad ties. That's what they are for. Ryobi is a fine brand for Harry Homeowner. They have picked up where Crafstman left off, and is trying now to return to. That's why there is a lot of innovation in their tools. If you are a pro, you don't need gadgety tools as much as reliable ones, but someone needs to try new ideas.
It's very nice like!
Its funny i dont watch shorts. Kinda feel like they are a waste of time. Much prefer long format videos!! I guess shorts drive people to your channel though. Love your content Clint! Keep it up my man!
Appreciate you brother. Everyone wants to be youtube, but youtube wants to be Everyone else. My problem is you only have under 60 seconds to get a point across, but then you have people complaining that the video wasn't long enough 🤣
@ToolReviewZone I've done a few shorts on my channel and everytime I seem to get more subs but frankly I hate doing them.
@RJSDZNS they will push them out to a new audience, the problem I've seen is most don't really watch the long form, so it kills a new video because the algorithm says not as .any subscribers are interested in this video. Who knows though 🤷
@ToolReviewZone Well your stuff is gold in long form bro.
Well........ What if you put the DRILL bit in the impact driver!!!!!
(You can make a hole with that too!!!)
And then you can put the bits in the IMPACT DRIVER......
Normal drills/screwdriver strips the screws too easily.
Doesn't make me angry. Everyone has their platorm they prefer for whaever reason. I bought into the red platform yonks ago, around 2009. M18 mostly, until I seriously got into handyman work, and diversified a little into M12. When they came out with the clone of (festool)? installer drill/driver with four different heads, I was all over that. Basically, stick mostly with whatever battery platform you start with. I only picked the M because my favorite color is red. Today, that could be *gag* craftsman. (y'all know why I threw that choking noise in there, don't lie).
