I have been a health care provider for over thirty years and have never known of this condition.
I witnessed my father and brother suffer from this through their lives and I have also inherited this OCD condition and have suffered from it through my life. I now know it is a named diagnosis which one is able to overcome. At fifty +, the journey continues.
More health care providers need to know about and understand this condition and how to help their patients and possibly themselves.

It gets so bad, I don’t even want to go anywhere where there might be someone I know he’d find attractive, and all I want to do is stay home.

@@overcomingrelationshipanxiety Thank you. I thought I was doing okay but then I realized this same issue is popping back up in a new relationship now that love has been affirmed. The insecure floodgates opened completely, and I’m also having ROCD.
Luckily, he’s been patient, and I’ve been able to control my reactions better to things. My thing is to not stay home and force myself to deal with my issues and reactions around him. I slipped up once or twice so far but I’ve been doing better. It’s all in my head.

The RJ I go through is crazy sometimes, sometimes I will go through my partners fcb and see posts and photos he took or posted before he met me and will look at the likes and also comments.

Eva, how did you cope with the spontaneous, graphic mental movies that don't seem to have a specific trigger? They just begin playing... I've tried distracting myself with some other visual stimuli like finding short videos about some of my other interests, but this only offers temporary relief, and they return... 🙁
