I believe that might be a tip when doing like flame jobs. If you spay the clear base first, THAT will be the color (or lack thereof) that shows up on a thick edge.
Just done a similar job. Stripes over candy over metajuls.Looking at your tape, are you using J tape? That stuff left adhesive lines that I couldn’t see till I cleared. Now got adhesive lines showing under clear! Panel wiped first too but didn’t remove it. Just a warning, to check close there are no adhesive lines left before clear.👍
I had that problem with the 3M "blue" 1/8" tape. Any tight turns it would leave the adhesive. I haven't used that for many years. I use the Orange 1/8". Link in the description above. I believe that is made in Germany. I also think it's a little cheaper than the 3M. Or at least it used to be
Lovely work and such a lot of patience and time needed. I do us Createx bleed checker but thats water based and Ive used clear of blue candy flames and put a Harley log on the side after flatting down with half of it over the flames to make sure the blue bleeds through as the customer wanted it, so clear coat doesn't stop the bleed of candy, can you explain that my friend? it was only a light silver i laid down though.
Hi, thanks. Are you talking about the clear that is already in the UK kandies? Or the basecoat clear/interclear that you use like in the KKs to mix candy in with? I know I haven't had any problems with bleed through of candy with any topcoat clear that requires a hardener(I believe all do if sprayed through a gun).
@@TAZattitude The 2k clear coat I was on about. I need to test that on a panel Thanks mate loving the channel and the quality you put out. Customers don’t always appreciate that this stuff takes a lot of time and patience. 👍
😅...it was actually less than a $1000. Would have been quite a bit more with the price of a new tank and to repaint a new tank. This was an insurance job anyways.
Harley Davidson is to long on tank it was inside the flame. you do very good work I'm not knocking your work. but for being one of 200 hundred I would never do that to a customer. I painted for 44 year's in automotive many motorcycle cars and transport trucks. I also paint on canvas. I am just way to fussy.
OMG I wouldn't know where to start. Amazing work.
Thanks Bill. Appreciate it! I know...this was a challenge for sure.
Excellent job, I'm impressed with the way you matched the paint colors.
Appreciate it Rick. Nice GTO you have there!
Brilliant job by the way, would not even attempt that, so hats off to you!
Appreciate that!
Mad respect, your a mad technician and still artistic
lol...appreciate that. I was nervous about this one. Got 'er done 👍
Great tip from Tony’s refinishing.
Spray basecoat clear on first, after masking to stop any bleed from the new paint. So easy for it to creep under!

The tank looks awesome 👌🏿
Appreciate that 3KK !
Over my head. Wow
It was a tough one. Glad it's gone!! 👍
Excellent work.
Thank you!
Awesome missed you
Well thanks Julie, appreciate it
Awesome work, great save on the factory paint. Did you do the logo with a vinyl mask? And wow what a process.
Thanks Jon. I did use a stencil. I have a plotter, but that is a special font so I had a local sign shop make it for me.
Definitely a process !!!

...yep, and enjoy doing it and make $$$$ at it to
Did you get the new lettering cut from Adobe Illustrator as an eps on frisket?
I have a plotter but not good at vector. I had a local sign shop make the stencils
"How to spend $9000.00 on a Harley tank" should be the name of this clip. Nonetheless, the work is fantastic.

How to get ahold of you I have a tank that needs repair
Looks like you found it. I replied back about a 1/2 hour ago - thank you
All that masking is a big pain just for small stripes, I know.
You got that right....Gotta do what you gotta do though
