    hi Josie!Do you remember me ? I am the Chinese guy that took photo with you in the afternoon at red light area 😄🤣 I just couldn’t believe such a coincidence at that time that I talked with my favorite RUclipsr in reality😃You two are so friendly and nice ! As you curiously observe and document the world, you’ve also shared with me countless perspectives, allowing me to see so many different and beautiful sceneries. In doing so, you’ve helped me, to some extent, understand the complexity of the world. I truly admire you. Wishing you peace and good health!!❤❤

    This is such an interesting video - and I’m so impressed with your persistence to find someone who would share their story. It really struck me with how scared they have become to make any statements - and showcases that not all content creators / journalists / storytellers are as honest, respectful and considerate as you are. Good on you for still sharing important perspectives and stories with the world, but changing the way it’s done. The world needs more Josies ❤️

    Hi Josie, Just finished watching this episode and decided to comment for the first time. Really enjoyed your take on the red like district. I have watched hours of video's on the different countries, bouncing all over to watch the countries I preferred. will soon start China. Not sure if possible but wondering could you put the month and year of country visiting instead of it saying 11 months ago (example) That way it gives viewers what weather etc was like at that time of the year, if planning to visit. After hearing you comment on people commenting personally on you, I loved your response !! I have learned through life to concentrate on the positives people say & ignore negativity, because no one can appeal to everyone & social media has given people the right to be rude and ignorant with no consequences. Unfortunately it is those negative comments that seem to linger in peoples heads. Thank you to you and Michael for what you are doing, sharing of yourselves and your personal experiences as you travel the world. Actually makes me want to be 30 years younger. Weird as it may sound, really happy to hear you are a black belt, helped me understand why you are so brave in some situations. Keep up the great video's and the Vlogs... Love them both esp josie vlogs things , I think its called , free plug for you😉

    I love how you kept trying 😊
    But as a Dutch female I have seen many red light districts around the country as most bigger cities have a dedicated area.
    Where I live now they closed down the red light zone and it didn't make it any better for the workers as they now need to go into an uncertain space instead of having their own safe room.
    But I also agree that having it as a tourist attraction is horrible.
    So how to keep the workers safe and don't make it a tourist attraction is a hard one to figure out.

    • @josieliftsthings
      @josieliftsthings  4 дня назад +2

      It’s a tough one! I think tighter controls on bad behaviour and leaving the district as it is currently is the right way to go - it must feel safer stepping out after work with lots of people around than it would walking to a car or transport in a quiet suburb!

  • @Dutchbelg3
    @Dutchbelg3 4 дня назад +2

    Dear Josie, The issue is that the Red light district is such a huge magnet for tourists as the world wide reputation is so shady. People are fascinated about this unknown world. Actually the Red Light district in Amsterdam is not that unique. All major larger cities in both The Netherlands and Belgium have a street or a few streets just like this. The number of tourists also implicate that less respectful and even nasty people come to stare at the girls. And cause trouble. The red light district is not for the people of Amsterdam nor the coffeeshops selling weed are primarily. The tourists keep the scene alive. Sending the girls to a big building in the middle of nowhere is not helping the girls. They will transfer to another city with less restrictions. And potentially less protection.
    About them not wanting to talk: You are far from on your own asking for indepth info ... I bet they get questions for interviews more than you can imagine. And more than often by people that want to keep the sensational drama stories alive. Some of the girls left their homes with stories for the people they leave behind about a bright future. And then that fails and they find only a good paying job doing what they can by nature. And they survive.. some leave as fast as they started and some keep their head up and make some good money. But it is hard to keep your mind straight. The lady that allowed you to ask some questions is not giving you her personal thoughts... She presented you with the Image she build to cope with her life. It was part of her "staged performance".

    A lot of locals are angry, “real Dutch people” are hard to find in the city, because of tourism, it’s difficult for locals to stay in the city because the extremely expensive houses, also there are a lot of drunken tourists who theorise the city, they have no shame or responsibility. I think that’s why a lot of locals don’t want to talk. I’m Dutch myself. Nice documentation!

  • @BuzziMuzzi
    @BuzziMuzzi 5 дней назад +4

    I’m so glad you did this. I’m Dutch and I’ve always found it incomprehensible why the Dutch are almost acting “proud” to have the red light district. Always the argument of “well legalizing it makes lesser chance for STDs”. Well, not for human trafficking. It estimated that about 40% of girls in the red light district are not there by choice.
    Additionally, is it not incredible disturbing to walk around that area and literally see human beings treated as objects for sale in display as they are behind glasses? and of course, just women.
    The Netherlands is so disassociated with this problem and disgusting mindset that when we were 12 years old, in elementary school, they took us as a “school trip” around the red light district. Almost as if to say with pride this is our culture!
    The Netherlands has a lack of cultural except for Calvanist Protestantism, being farmers and loving money. Selling human beings and attracting tourists along the way is just, great for money right?

    • @erikonthefloor
      @erikonthefloor 5 дней назад +2

      About your last paragraph, I’m not sure I agree. Being from Belgium, we often see the Netherlands as our “big brother” and you have a lot cultural richness:
      - practical but interesting cuisine (stoemp, frikandel, stroopwafel, kapsalon, …)
      - one of the first religiously tolerant states on Europe,
      - innovative economy,
      - many great painters,
      - grabber dance,
      - marvels of engineering around fighting and taking land back from the sea.

    It's unbelievable to me how you can't even utter the word "sex" on a RUclips video now. I mean, "sex" is not even a dirty word. The very expression of "having sex" was, itself, meant to be a sanitized way of saying "f[bleep]k."
    We can't even communicate with each other in clear terms with words perfectly acceptable for use in newspapers and elementary school textbooks, for crying out loud!!

This video got demonetized from the start and I had to make close to 20 versions, continuously blurring, beeping and cutting until it was able to have ads on it. It's weird she sale her body with different mend and she feel better, good even there is no love. But for me I'm sad for those people's who sale their body for sex and attention even its a sin. But hope so they come on right way.

      @@Honey0640 I hope the same brother but sadly most of the songs and famous celebrities are not even hesitating to call themselves as bishes. They don't even feel like it's a shame. I think because of movies and nudity acts the society is becoming like this 🤔. But I hope and pray for the good things ✨

    Every video I’ve watched on this channel has you saying at least a few words in the language of the country that you’re in. Why didn’t you learn a few Dutch words?

    There are women who work hard to feed the family especially single moms 😊 but there are also some women who don't want to work hard so find something like scx work and demand it to be treated as normal. But I just do not agree with those women 😐 one day God will judge everyone

      It will be you who will be judged !!
      Jesus COMMANDS us: “Matthew 7:1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

      @@KB-th1vz i haven't judged pls read my comment carefully again. I'm just saying scx work is not work because it ruins the morals in society. I think telling someone to not do something which is considered as sin according to scriptures or something that is against moral values is not judging. I didn't mean to judge anyone ok? Telling someone to not do something is not judging right? 🤔 What do you think? Have I acted against scriptures?
