I've watched so many videos about nature sound recording, but this one is the most poignant. It touches the soul in ways those who are not in tune to the sounds around them cannot hear.
Glad to see you again! You have been missed. That darn robin likes to wake me up every morning! Thanks for the story about how you got started! And the history of how difficult recording used to be. I used to do all my editing by combining 3-4 VCR's. Now I am having to learn all this computerized stuff. Take care and thank you!!!
beautiful! i’ve been recording for a while, but pretty casually. this year i start to go out on longer trips and return to certain forests. recording is such powerful way to open and connect to the natural world.
Nice video Martyn. You've obviously put a lot of time and effort into this well thought out clip. Your tricks of the trade are appreciated as well as the images. Thumbs Up!
A simple Google search on how to best record the sounds around my pond brought before me this such - hard to pick the words, wonderful, inspiring, simply & totally enjoyable master piece! Ok, so I’m a bit mind blown. From someone who pretty much tunes into every sound around him, thank you for this treasure.
Such a wonderful video! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Such important work. I've been looking for tips on how to record nature sounds from where I grew up!
I suddenly came here because search how to record good bird song audio while doing filming them, your masterpiece is tons of knowledge. Wish you the very best healthy.
I have a similar connection with the skylark. In the poem "in Flanders Fields" by John McCrae - written during WorldWar1 - he says: "And in the sky the larks, still bravely singing, fly, scarce heard amid the guns below". But the skylark is gone and it saddens me deeply.
As a sound recordist myself really enjoyed watching your video. Like you said it would be almost impossible to find any silent locations especially for someone living in India. You would be very lucky to find 10 seconds of silence .
I’ve been learning from the true master of sound. Record sound of nature so hard. I have my youtube channel about nature sound. But I feel really shame on what I am doing these days. I realized I have to study and try more to record true sound of nature. I wish I could participate your lectures. Thank you so much. Sir. and Sorry for my English... Left message from South Korea.
Fantastic introduction to nature recording. Thanks for the great video. Though my travels i have come to love listening to Geophony (word learnt today...) and I like to start trying to record it. I started with my phone which of course is far from useful and have been suggested to start with a Zoom H2n or H4n to see if I like it before investing in any bigger equipments.
Mid/side at 9:50. Too bad you only sometimes accompanied specific recording examples to the each described technique. Oh gosh, two thirds of the species you recorded are extinct. :-(
Great video Martyn. As a fellow recordist I am struggling to find biophony rich habitat these days, even out here in Tanzania. Hear are some: soundcloud.com/bwanakomba-1/

Dear Martin ... love from my side ... your video puts me close to nature and feels how far we have gone from real natural life of flora & fauna
Wow!
The end of the video started making me sad lol. Nice work,
I hope you're out there right now recording now that the world is experiencing a pause from making all that racket.

Thank you Martyn from a fellow birdlover and lover of Vaughn Williams in Tennessee.
Was the workshop recorded? And if so, are the recordings for sale?
What is the music that begins at 16:20 (right before The Lark Ascending)?
I am just getting into field recording and want to thank you for the absolutely outstanding videos, they are very informative and inspirational!
Great video of different birds. Your equipment is way beyond my capabilities ( and budget.) Would have been nice to show some beginner,s equipment..

I subscribed and then I unsubscribe.
I see he does not reply to his fans.
If a person cannot reply back to his fans
He does need my subscription
You should do a series of these recordings and experiences. Amazing video
