I’m old . My mom made hotdogs and sliced potatoes. Some of the potatoes would get crisp. A meat loaf had lots of leftover veggies and leftover condiments. There was a small salad at every dinner. Lots of bits made it into that. Loaded Baked potato topped with leftover hamburger or chili, cheese. Sour cream, and cheese. Depended what was in the fridge. She make it great.
If you can spare a few extra minutes for your spaghetti, sauteing the tomato paste with the browned ground beef before adding the more liquid ingredients adds a lot of depth of flavor.
Told my hubby two weeks ago we needed to go to the grocery store. I proceeded to make a menu plan. Turned out after doing my pantry freezer inventory more closely I had stuff to make several weeks of meals. I’ve been squirreling away sale specials for a while this winter. He ended up going for only milk and bread and some fruit. It’s funny how we fall into habits. Saved a hundred or two not going and eating what we had. I’ve always planned ahead and I just got lazy I guess. Love your channel.
I love how you save all the empty packages to show us everything you used up 😂 That’s some dedication 👍🏼
The chicken sausage/onion/pepper rice and cheesy Flatbread meal looked sooooo good!! I find too that some of my best creations are when I use bits and pieces of leftover this and that. 😀
@Kay I agree with you…
I’m the queen of “pantry special” cooking. That’s what my mom always said growing up and I’ve continued the tradition.
“Mom, What’s for dinner?” “Panty Special!”
Meaning it’s gonna me a random thrown together meal but it usually comes out great! Only problem is sometimes I don’t remember how to recreate the meal if my family loves it.
I occasionally make a dish like your sausage rice, only I sauté it. I really like how resourceful you are. My parents were teenagers during the Great Depression and taught us to not waste food. Wasting food is a major pet peeve of mine.
I prefer making streusel from oats over flour :)
Great creations Mindy! Everything looked delicious.
Yum it all looks delicious and all from using up stuff!
I LOVE all of these ! I have some Zatarains andouille sausage and definitely going to try that rice dish! Love your videos and use tons of your stuff! Keep it up and thanks for your help!
Love all these videos so much you are a great inspiration all my love to you and your family xx
I love watching these videos lol . You come up with some things we’d eat… lately my kiddos (just got off a gluten and dairy free diet for 2 years) have been eating me out of house and gone it’s slowly tapering off but they missed normal food. It didn’t help either of them medically so I was like can they switch back? Haha 😂 dr signed off and my oldest was so happy! He hated that.
I've never heard of the tip to do muffins at a higher temp for a few minutes on the front end, but I'm def going to try it, thanks!
Yum! I’ve never heard the tip about starting muffins out at a higher temperature. I’ll have to try that.
Spaghetti is a classic dinner! I love these videos because they always get my wheels turning and thinking about what I can use up in my freezer or pantry. Tonight will be pork fried rice using up some leftover rice and some veggies odds and ends from the freezer!
Yum!
Love the pie! Especially the individual pies for one serving. Great idea. You could do that for Easter using pistachio pudding or other flavor that might have a color to it and by some peeps and let the children decorate them.
I’m so excited to try that lavash grilled cheese idea!
Yum! 😃 You always have fun creative simple ideas. 👌
I love your 'use it up' pantry challenges - I always feel motivated to paw through my pantry/fridge and use the bits & bites up, so thanks!
Thanks, Sherilyn!
Your vlog keeps me going on my quest to cook home-cooked meals!!
Everything looks delicious.
Your meals look amazing!
Yummy!
Thank you very much for your inspiring video, Mindy! Your creativity your kitchen has made a difference in mine. 🍽🙂
Loved all the food you made
Thanks I have that same muffin mix on my table waiting to be cooked.
This is why I love your channel so much you are real! You are busy just like the rest of us moms. You cook normal every day recipes we can all relate too. I love the pantry cooking bc it challenges me to use up my pantry items. Thanks for being real and helping out all us moms🙂
If your looking for easy lunch for one or dinner for all. I put a mixture of sweet potatoes and regular potatoes in crockpot. I keep in my fridge for easy side or my go to for all meals is a sweet potatoe cut open with a little butter and fried egg on top. Something I found I like is like that package of chicken you had they also have a Bar B Q one put it on a regular potatoe with whatever topping you like it really good and cheap. Love the meal ideas.
Ah now I'm hungry lol! I'm also attempting pantry cooking this week, I have a bit of everything you made, now gotta get cooking! Thanks for the great ideas! 👍😊
Thanks for watching!
Everything you made looked delicious. I have the ingredients for the sausage rice so it will be in the meal plan this weekend.
Your videos just keep getting better and better. I’ve been here for a long time! Since the WW and Built Bar issue days. I’m so happy your channel has grown so much!
Thanks so much, Holly! Funny you mentioned BB, they reached out a few months back wanting to become a sponsor. 🤷♀️
Awesome recipes, thanks for sharing ❤️❤️❤️
I love love love this video,so very helpful and helps me to be even more creative, thank you very much for all you do, appreciate you a lot ,God bless you💛👍😁
Looks so good
I LOVE Kraft Noodle dinner. They should bring that one bac
You amaze me with these pantry challenges. Lots of good ideas.❤
Great videos!! I too, do pantry cooking a good bit. I know you purchased a lot of non brand foods and so do I. What are some of the things you purchase name brand that is so much better than store brand. While I was growing up, we always purchased store brand items but when I married, there was several items that my husband liked better. One being bread, tea, mayonnaise etc.
Thanks Mindy, I always enjoy these kinds of videos you do.
How did you know I was searching for pantry cooking challenge videos? 😱 Super excited! 😆
I must have a sixth sense! 😊
So yummy!!!!!
I have that apple muffin mix in my pantry. Definitely making this weekend
That all lookef great.... i try to do the same with freezer and pantry. I live alone so i always have lors in the freezer for my girks when they visit.
You go girl! Love your videos.😀💜
My mom loved the Kraft chicken noodles back in the day, I know I probably could have recreated it myself eventually but hadn't thought about it. :) It's nice to have a way to recreate it right in front of me, and so easy and inexpensive too! Thank you! My mom is still living so I need to do this soon, she's in her late 70's. She'll be so happy!
That muffin hack also works to create lovely domed cupcakes.
Dollar tree has a dried veggienseasoning in their spice section... it's like the 21 salute at trader Joe's but also has dried veggies
I'm trying your bakery hack. Wish me luck!
Thanks Mindy, Jennifer 🤩
We are doing a shrimp boil in the crock pot tonight!! My kids are so excited!!!!! Thank you for sharing meal ideas! We have definitely benefited from this channel
Thanks, Alisha! I appreciate the kind words!
Love these kinds of videos! The sausage peppers and rice looked delicious. When I have random stuff to use up I always make some kind of soup. My husband loves it and I tell him to enjoy it because I'll never be able to recreate it. 😂
Been busting my pantry and freezer since the end of Jan... I can't finally see things in my pantry... also making a donation box for our local food pantry too!!!
That chocolate peanut butter pie looked sooooo good. You could add a block of cream cheese to it and that would send it over the top.
Loved the cheesy Flatbread. I Do the same with leftover Dürüm.
"It's real life"
Thank you for saying that!
Favourite videos you do!!!
Thanks!
What A lovely blouse ✨
I make what we call sick noodles. It’s something I make when we’re sick but also make it as a side dish or lunch. It’s just hearty creamy chicken noodles. Are use one can of cream of chicken. One can of water. 1 teaspoon of chicken bullion powder. And just enough egg noodles for it to come to the top of the liquid. Bring it to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Cover until the majority of the liquid is absorbed. They are so good. It’s one of my daughters favorite things to eat.
Pie looks tasty- I have not seen the McCormick’s spaghetti packet before
I really like the budget meals that you do.
cool
You're very creative 👍👍
I 100% made the oatmeal packet cookies you featured a few videos ago. They were AWESOME.
I’m so glad!
Just made your 5 ingredient ramen (minus Mayo) and tonight is lazy chicken salad on hawaiian rolls!
Ha I was just wondering if u made things like spaghetti or tacos and such! Mind reader!!! You have inspired a few pantry meals in this house. Becuz I never have exactly what you've shown but I can get close ❤
I love the idea of lavish bread oven baked grilled cheese I was curious do you have any recipes for homemade baked beans from scratch starting with dry beans kind of like the Bush's Baked Bean style
Yummy 😋
I do not know how your family feels about Cajun food, but you could have added a can of diced tomatoes with their liquid, chopped celery, garlic and any kind of leftover protein with sausage( I think smoked sausage would taste better in this though)...I use: leftover pork roast, ham and ground breakfast sausage. Sometimes I use little smokies if I do not have regular smoked link sausage. In your frozen veg mix you had your green pepper, onion. In Jambalaya you can mix seafood with other proteins. Chicken, pork, shrimp etc. one pot meal that you can stretch for a whole family! Just add a salad and some French bread wonderful meal...though I usually take one loaf and make a bread pudding for dessert or breakfast the next day. Just a thought for another meal.
The chicken rice meal looked like something you'd get in a restaurant! 🙂
I look so foward to every single video you create. You are such a beautiful woman in every way..you ate such an inspiration to me.nit just in the kitchen, but in so many areas. You are positive and so full of grace..adore you
I had a bag of flame roasted maple flavored sweet potatoes in the freezer that i knew we would not eat so I looked up recipes for sweet potato muffins... found one that looked good, baked the sweet potatoes, let them cool, then whipped them up in my cuisinart so they were smooth. Did have to add water to it as it was thick...mixed them up... they turned out so good that I made 2 batches, one with raisins and one without... Win/Win, thinking outside the box.... lol
I have perpetual pasta/rice. I store them in a separate container and when I get low I just buy more and add to the original package. I can't imagine running out of rice or using up the last of a package.
I keep seeing people on tiktok trying to use up everything and going 30 days or more not shopping for groceries some will get milk and fresh produce I think it's pretty cool I thought of your videos like this when I saw them
Isn’t funny how we cook things we aren’t sure of and most of the time they turn out delicious?! Haha happens to me all the time!
👍🏻
I wonder if there is a smaller Aurora cooker?! I would love one
I don’t think there’s a smaller one, at least to my knowledge.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
So, just a curiosity question... what is the advantage of using a "packet" of spaghetti seasoning as opposed to just adding Italian seasoning, garlic powder, etc? Lots of ugly additives in the packet stuff?
Sometimes people on a limited budget don’t have all the seasonings and it would cost too much of their food budget to buy them at one time.
I really gotta get better at doing this. I don't have a while family to cook for, it's just me but I never seem to be creative enough to come up with meal ideas 😫
How long did sausage, vegetables & rice cook for? Can’t wait to try this recipe. Thank you for sharing.
Not sure, it was the low rice setting on the instant pot aura.
I had the same muffin mix and made it last week but they was not good I think I saw you add apple sauce if so how much did you add
The mix called for 1/2 cup
I’ve tried the great value pouch chicken and it was gross to me, too
How is that spaghetti packet never seen that before better than the jar?
Just my opinion. Just use regular known seasoning and/or bouillon in your favorite canned tomatoes and/or tomato sauce. Much better for you than packets and jars of sauce. Easy to do and super cheap.
How do you like that crockpot, looking for new one.
I like it, but I primarily use it for soups, vegetarian meals, casserole style meals…haven’t tried roast or other large quantities of meat in it.
Is that a crockpot you were using? With the rice.
Mine doesn't have those settings. Where did you get it ? Thanks Jennifer
Yes, it’s the instant pot aura slow cooker. I got it on Amazon.
Why is it whenever I like something whether it's food wise or other products it gets discontinued! Drives me 🤪 crazy.
Random question but, where is your black and floral shirt from?
Hello 👋
What is that instant pot cooker you're using?
It’s an instant pot aura slow cooker.
I hated the great value chicken in the pouch 🤢
My bad I didn’t realize I rewatched an old video and said the same thing lol
Oh heck Mindy…To me, spaghetti seasoning packet means it is from scratch… ya stirred it!
Haha! So true!
