Bucket head is a man of many styles however, Jason has is own unique technical shred tactic style that's also melodic and plays a 7 string. Bucket head is nowhere near as technical when it comes to time signatures, nor do I think Bucket head could play these as clean as Jason. I've seen Bucket head live. He's awesome and good, but I don't think he'd have the capacity of memory to write how Jason writes. Both are phenomenal guitarist, however what Jason writes is straight brilliance. Jason could play Bucket head, but Bucket head idk if he could play Jason's stuff. Let alone memorize it.
The thing is every prodigy guitar player builds off the peak the previous generation set. No one knew how Jimmy Hendrix was making the guitar sing like that at the time. No one knew how Van Halen was playing insane arpeggios. It only makes sense that newer guitarists are able to reach the level of previous masters faster than they could. Making new breakthroughs is a little harder.

I remember going to a BOO show, which was my first professional show and Jason fucking killed it at that show and even stuck around and talked with my friend and I. Super nice and cool guy. I also remember him being the only one who seemed sober.
The sweeping is insane, obviously. But ability to keep time on the rhythmic palm-muted riffs with the stop-start burts of 16ths is the equivalent of running suicides on a basketball court. There's no economy of motion where you just keep the pick moving, and the endurance it takes to make it look this effortless is wild. It doesn't wow the crowd like a melodic scale up so it doesn't get recognized as much though.
He's the cleanest player I've ever seen. Such precision, just Petrucci level of playing. But then, he kills everything with Chelsea Grin. I don't hate that band, but just their music is plainly generic. But those leads are cool af.
As he puts the guitar with the others I saw a. He is one of the masters and each guitar is one of the heroes of changing music and b. Just humbly accepting hes just another guitar but hes unique, gold and shiny

Why does chelsea grin get so much hate? I've listened to them briefly on spotify and yeah it's not the most inventive stuff but it still makes me want to bang my head - Jason Richardson is fucking otherworldly and I feel he would outclass any band he is contributing to.... so yeah, why do people hate Chelsea Grin?
