This show was my 5th time seeing Metallica, but my 73 year old father on the other hand it was his first. He usually only listens to jazz or blues, but he said to me he wanted to see Metallica live before they hung it up. During this song I looked to my right where he was standing and there he was, head banging screaming HEY with everyone else and throwing up the double metal horns. It's an image and memory I will have forever. Also made a new metalhead along the way.
This is the show that finally blew the hearing outta my left ear (Michigan Pine Knob, 1st row right stage 2009?)...Iraq took care of the first part, damned glad to say Metallica took care of the last, lol. 🤣
The whole band is killing it. James' playing/singing on point. Kirk smashing the solos and let's not forget the riffs he is also mirroring during verses. Rob in the pocket, fantastic energy. Lars driving the song, in time, smashing it. 40 years and it just doesn't slow down.
Insecurities can hit anybody, proof is right here. James Hetfield is self-concious about his playing ability, yet he is one of the most talented frontmen and guitarists i've ever seen. Not to mention his song writing ability. I am so grateful that they are still performing live and doing all that they can for their fans.
Was actually kind of shocked when I heard it. He sounded as close to it as anyone could expect at his age. That was great! Same with that growl at 2:30!
O.K. Kirk not just killing but outright obliterating that solo is one thing, but doing it with a Boris Karloff "The Mummy" themed guitar while wearing a Misfits shirt is just next level awesome.
There's a lot of us. My neighbor bought Kill'em all at the guitar store when it came out, and I was hooked. I was 10 and bouncing off the walls when I heard it.
Best band to ever step on a stage. I have saw a lot, but not all. To this day so far Metallica is undefeated. No other big band brought the energy that Metallica does. Go see for yourself if you don't believe me. You won't be disappointed
I agree, seen Metallica about 7/8 times, got tickets to see them in Seattle 2024 already.. BUT… although awesome.. TOOL (whom I’ve also seen 7 times) is on another level when it comes to a live show!! Also, I seen roger waters twice this year and that was spectacular as well. The live show itself is just much more impressive, same with the sound mix! But Metallica kicks ass as always!!
I’ve seen Tool, but in no way are they on the level of Metallica as a concert; their music is spectacular but they pride themselves on their music and light show and visuals, they are about as exciting as watching grass grow as musicians though, Danny Carey Careys them 😉 the singer hides in the shadows the whole night. That’s not fun.
@@xFcDoveR I don’t know how to say this without sounding like an ass… But you must not be a great musician if you don’t see how Tool is much more impressive live and as musicians in general. James is an AWESOME frontman don’t get me twisted! But Maynard used to be crazy on stage once as well, but to me, that’s not what makes a show impressive (he stands where he stands to hear better btw). With Metallica the instruments can get lost in the mix and if you don’t know the riffs (I know every single Metallica song so this isn’t a problem for me) you won’t be able to figure out what’s going on live. Which when I seen tool for the first time I only knew 2 songs (barely).. turned out to be the best show I had ever seen (I’ve seen over 100 concerts). I didn’t need to know the music to hear what was going on. Everything is crystal clear, you can hear every instrument perfectly. The use of effects, synths and pedals are sick and they make these weird time signatures sound like 4/4 to your ear. Roger waters also put on a better show than Metallica, possibly better than Tool as well. But maybe you just like Metallicas style of music better so for you that’s what gives you energy and makes you love the show, to each their own! Metallica was my life from like 13 to 19 so I’ve been there lol
James didn't see that crazy screem coming at 05:51 and he laughed 05:57 .. the boys are having fun at this point and the performances are better than ever
