- I got invited to drive a DME Tuned Stage 2 McLaren 600LT at Pocono Raceway, as if a normal 600LT wasn't fast enough. I'll do a few laps to see what kind of 60-130 time this supercar can set on our Fast List.

600LT is buy far the more focused drivers car and is probably the pick of the range, 720S is quick but doesn’t offer the feed back and rawness of the 600LT , having driven both , I picked the 600 LT no regrets at all 👍

This is high end videography. And man that hood scoop takes the ball for me. Give me a crazy crackle exhaust and a tune and I’d take this anyday over 720s
Short of the P1 & the. 675LT, this is the only Mclaren to get. Too bad, there remains reliability issues that have dogged the brand.
This is one of the reasons I've been straying away from McLaren's in terms of purchasing one. When I was testing the 720S, the launch control button fell through the center console.

It's a gorgeous 600LT. The blue looks absolutely amazing in person and that roof scoop simply completes it. I think the 458/488 may have faster upshifts but the downshifts on the 600LT are just simply crazy. It's a .75 second difference from stock to tuned in the 60-130 department but that's already quite a bit because consider that the faster a car is, the more power it needs to make a significant difference.
If you thought the Huracan was intense, this thing is that x3. And yeah I had to cut the rest of that blooper scene out because it was not PG-13 😄

Id say the best power to weight ratio, its definatly one of their brand philosophies along with the design has to be functional, no fake vents or weird angles unless it helps with downforce or aero, the use all the aero for extra downforce so they can keep the weight down so they dont have to use a 4 wheel drive system that adds weight, light weight high HP definatly works, just look at how the 720s destroys most cars with 4 wheel drive and + 900 hp in the quarter and half mile! You need a heavily moded car or a hyper car to put a 720 down nowadays, you see the other bespoke brands are going down the same route as Mclaren nowadays!

Agreed, it's tough to cough up that amount of money for a car that would only see the track in most circumstances. A GT2 is a quarter mil and even those things are just going to end up being garage queens. For a track car, I'd look for something under 100K. Great video as usual.

I hope the 765LT has the option for a roof scoop!! If it does and it enhances the sounds, the wooshes, intakes and exhales all on the 720s platform then you have an all round winner for best supercar for looks,sounds and performance!!! I really cant wait for the 765LT to be released! I hope they change the rear end and scrap the cool rear wing in favor for a fixed one and have another top mounted exhorst but a different design! 4 would look good or maybe 1 large style like the P1's, then a huge defuser and larger splitter with ajustable canards in the light sockets and along the front corners. Some new wheels in carbon would be cool too along with a special 2 tone paint job for its launch!!! Cant wait to see some renders and other peoples spec! All i need now is for the lotto to pay me

I've driven both on track back to back and the 600LT is the way to go. Want a street car with occasional track sessions? Get a 720S. But if you want a track weapon the 600LT is definitely the way to go!

Base price of the 600lt is 256k and fast but its slower then the 720S on track and the straights and the 720S is 284k. Then the MSO versions run 320k and up and for that a Pista is faster then both the 720S and 600LT on track and is gaining value so the better buy new. I am just not that into the 600LT for all the hype of everyone saying it was going to be faster then the 720S and Pista for it to be slower by a second or more on most tracks. 570S is a good buy used, same with the 720S. The 600LT is just in a weird spot and did not go as fast as most thought it was going to. Hopefully the 720S LT model can run with the new SF90 Stradale for some epic head to head comparison tests.
The 600LT is definitely a little pricey for what it is. But if you think about it, it's like the GT4 equivalent of the McLaren lineup. And while that's still a fantastic car by any means, when you know that the 750LT (what we're speculating the name to be for the LT version of the 720S) is out there. From what I understand from the owner and some other buyers, they tend to buy the 600LT new just so that they can get the first allocations for the 750LT when it comes out. At least that's what is happening in this case.

I'd take the LT over a 720S. Those top mount exhausts with the aftermarket downpipes definitely justify the price

Thats interesting. Many of the (new) supercars you review are tuned. Oversees in europe, we usually dont do that, I guess that at least 95% of high priced supercars here are stock. We only modify hatchbacks or family cars / station wagons :)
I personally prefer stock cars but most of my friends who own supercars tend to mod them almost immediately. Seems like a common trend here. I noticed that as well in Europe, not many modded supercars if any at all (even all half the tuners are based out of Europe).
Track Day TV ..We use this saying in Europe. If you need to mod your car for more power you bought the wrong car...

The new one is epic, the sound alone should be labled as sexual content :P It have been completly reworked, better Power-Weight ratio and is just different to every other car. (Well i think you know the Atom)

@@L0v0lup The Ariel Atom is my dream car. I've been trying to buy a 3S for some time now but they are very rare to find on the used market here in the US. The 4 is even more rare, I don't think anyone in the country has one yet (at least not from my knowledge). I think the 4 is a better car than the 3S, but for some reason, I can't help but find the 3S more attractive with the F/R wing and the side radiators.
If I bought an Atom, I think I would do as much content on it as possible because no one has one or does a lot of stuff on them.
Model S P100D does the same thing or better for a third of the price.
I seriously doubt a P100D is going to beat a 600LT from a 60-130 roll. Plus life isn't about just straight line stuff, 600LT would run circles around your Tesla on a track.

What was the 0 to 60 time ?
I found this interesting as I have a modified MP4 - 12 C. On 93 octane I am pretty close to 800 at the crank like this car. I wonder how much the different gearing affects the two cars. I do have the option to running higher boost with methanol and going to 950 at the crank but I suspect it’s moot because I don’t think I’ll have traction . Did you feel any wheelspin when you hit it and did you go automatic or manual shift?
You can pick up a 600LT for under $240,000 right now. All in with the tune and downpipes you'd be in it for $250,000. I personally think the 600LT looks better than a 720S!
Correct, a cheaper spec 600LT pre-owned will be considerably cheaper. But if you option for the roof scoop, somehow it becomes dramatically more expensive.
Track Day TV You’re absolutely right, isn’t the roof scoop like a $30,000 option? I just got rid of my per for Montei and I’ve been looking at 600 LT‘s. Sub 1000 mile examples with Senna seats and all the options minus the roof scoop and some of the higher spec carbon options are going for 225
Yeah, I remember when I was looking at the used prices a few months ago, they were like 300-320K with roof scoop which I thought was insane. The good (and bad) thing about McLarens is their depreciation. We're seeing used 720S break the 240K mark now. I personally want to see it break 200K next year which would make it very attractive for me.

Yes you would spend that money if the track was your only focus. The 600lt has handling characteristics that go beyond the 720s as noted by the Nurburgring channel. Both cars are so heavily track focused that only someone doing track days monthly could appreciate it. To me both cars are simply too expensive because we now have ZR1s with tunes and ported blowers pushing 900hp OR MORE. Thats less than half the price for more performance.
The 600LT makes about 680bhp on a stage 1 tune with pump gas. There’s absolutely no way that car is making 800bhp just by adding some down pipes, and retaining the standard turbos.

Agreed! I have a roof scoop on my SL-C and it looks great with it, this 600LT scoop looks like a snorkel scoop and looks ridiculous IMO.
