Why in the world was he short shifting the Mclaren?? 🤔 They pull hard all the way to redline in every gear so nothing to be gained by shifting at 7,000RPM on a flat plane crank engine like that
McLaren looked like it was short shifting at about 7K every time where as the redline is like 8100. Why? Tuned 570s should be deep into the 6s. Like low 6 possibly.
The 570s platform makes most of its peak power at 7000-7500. So shifting after that theoretically shouldn't make it much faster. Although I do agree, a stock 570s is a low 7second car, so a tuned one should at least be around a second faster. I remember the 600LT he did was in the high 5s, which is essentially the same thing, just 300# lighter.
Exactly my thought, short shifted the whole time. Should have let it shift alone, in auto mode, not himself. I have a couple cars, one is a 2012 12c. It ran 5.32 sixty to one thirty w an ams tune and downpipes.
@@exotixfan peak power doesn’t matter. It depends on the torque to the wheels. Unless the torque absolutely falls off up top, more torque will be sent to the wheels by staying in a lower gear till redline vs upshifting and losing gear advantage
