    As the owner of this particular 675LT I’d just like to butt in here with the whole 675LT vs 720S debate.
    I had a 720S and just couldn’t gel with it, it was quick but it was boring. The 675LT is very quick, although not as quick as the 720S but the power comes in a completely different way. I found the 720S to be very linear whereas the 675LT is just a punch in the nutsack every time.
    I also have a Senna and that’s second to the 720S in terms of real world use.
    I’ve never had a problem with reliability so I’m guessing the only people commenting about that are the ones who don’t own them personally but have a friend of friend which has a cousin that’s boss owns one. I’ve read this lots of times that I think it’s become folklore now.
    Is the 675LT a good car? Yes
    Is it worth £200k now? Yes for purchasing reasons, No for just stupidity on Mclarens part on bringing out another 1000 models in their line up.
    Would I rather spend another £100k on a Ferrari 458 Speciale? Damn skippy I would, and I did.
    But more of that to come later hey supercardriver!!!!

    • @2manycars713
      @2manycars713 4 года назад +22

      Porsche Collector yeah of course, I have both the Speciale and the Speciale Aperta and they’re just wonderful cars. With McLaren you’re paying for the technology whereas with Ferrari you’re paying for the engine. So it’s all dependent on whether you want to feel like you’re driving a fighter jet (675LT) or you’re driving a car with real soul and heart (Speciale). Personally I’d go for the Speciale all day long as they’re only 0.1 second slower 0-62 and they have the pretty much the same top end speed however the engine is one of the best sounding V8’s since the Challenge Stradale and their prices will only keep on rising as it’s Ferrari’s last NA V8 engine. I like my Pista and I’m sure I’ll like my Pista Spider when that comes but if it’s sunny and I had the choice, I’d go for the older NA Speciale.

    For me the most desirable 3 cars ever made were the McLaren F1, Ferrari F40 and the 675LT. I think the 675 is an astonishing car and what you said about people in the future being amazed you could have had one for £200k is spot on. Only a few weeks ago I was chatting with a mate about an F40 he was haggling over several years ago for £325k.
    Of all the cars you could buy now the 675 is the one that I think has reached its F40 esque turning point and will follow on as the next era defining car of a generation. IMHO. Shame there are less than 100 RHD coupes and spiders to go round. You need to be quick!
    Stunning video too, thanks guys. And let's not forget the 600LT is also an amazing machine. Great to see them side be side.

      High praise indeed for the 675LT if you put it up there with whats got to be the most iconic cars ever made . The F40 is my euromillions dream car, forget the Pagani Zonda, Konninsegg etc...

    • @bispal
      @bispal 4 года назад

      @@gazzabrownhigh8891 I seriously do. The next step up from a 675, IMHO, would be an F40 and even then I think although the F40 is an iconic car its not one I would actually want to own & drive like the 675. So for me the 675 is the ultimate car to own and use as I don't think anyone would use an F40 very much? Nothing in the price band between a 675 and an F40 interests me either except maybe a Superformnace GT40 tool box copy or a Singer.

      "It's still hard to believe that as fast as the 675 is, the 720s Trump's it in every category except looks!!!" Not so sure about that. In a straight line the 720S will definitely beat the 675, but on the track, I'm not so sure. Guys in the McLaren Owners Club reckon the 675LT trumps the 720S. I am seriously tempted to replace the 720S with a 675LT.

    • @gapyrodawg5181

      @@Simon-Maxine-Wyett-Corfu come to think about it, I've only seen the 720s going in straight lines. 0-60, 0-120, Quarter mile, Half mile, and Mile or more shoot outs. Can't remember any road track reviews. Can't wait to see what the LT version does. You see the 675 and 720 forced the Competition(Ferrari, Lamborghini) to step there Game up. I believe if the McLaren's never showed up, the 458 wouldn't have been the last NA V8 from Ferrari, and Lamborghini wouldn't be very serious about going in some form of e-power assist.

    I’ve a 570 Spider, so no way near as raw performance as theses two but plenty enough for me. Thanks for bringing the 675 LT to my attention. BTW- I’ve had Zero issues with my car, so always intrigued when people add comments like “ they are not reliable, I will never buy one”...but strangely these people apparently are prepared to waste their time looking at video reviews of said cars 🤨. It’s possible that these same people also think Skoda’s are crap too...but I can assure them that (as we are now onto our second Citigo) that is a misconception 🙄.

  • @rickw8645
    @rickw8645 4 года назад +8

    For me it’s the 675, for a number of reasons, it’ll always remain special being the first LT version of the new era for McLaren... it seems more raw as it was an all out speed exercise not just engineering like the 600.... if you look into true numbers they are both limited numbers and not as many as you think on the 600, a good friend has one on a similar finance deal to that which you mentioned..... my mind was already made up previous to this video, but after viewing it just cements my decision even more that the 675 is the best, most useable car McLaren have made to date 👌🏻

    Nice review. I owned a 12C and 650S over 2-3 years. I also drove a 675LT for 2 days whilst filming. I found the 650S a much better road car. The 675LT is set up for track and is a lot louder and you don't notice the upgrade in power. The 675LT wins on looks though. The reason they have dropped is because McLaren have pumped out so many new models, and with the same engine in most cars. A basic 570S at £90,000 offers all the speed you'll ever need and if you go for the Spider at £110,000 you can out the roof down too!

    • @scd
      @scd  4 года назад +2

      Interesting to hear your thoughts Mark. The 675 will always be known as the most iconic modern day McLaren and sure values will bounce back soon. The 570 is an option for those who are just basing it on values and a cheap point of entry into supercar ownership.

    2 AMAZING cars from McLaren but the original LIMITED SUPER series 675LT is so much better than the UNlimited SPORTS series 600LT. The banned F1 technology of active aero and hydraulic suspension makes all the difference IMHO. The 600LT looks aggressive but personally I dont find the overall styling cohesive and it looks a bit like its driven through a Halfords accessory stand whilst the 675LT just oozzes class and looks super sexy. The 675LT is a guaranteed future classic, think early low volume ferrari limited editions, in 10 years time. The 675LT spider is better than a 458 Speciale Aperta IMHO and yet half the price and has gone from £100k above list to £100k under nowadays - what an absolute bargain and these are already quickly disappearing off the market forever as those enthusiasts in the know and collectors sweep them up. I love the 675LT, it's stunning. I know you can't really compare the limited run 675LT to a 720S from a rarity/production POV, but when you consider the 720S runs rings around the 675LT performance wise, it's probably why the value nose dived; people put their money into the new car instead. The 720S resale value has also fallen off a cliff and you can pick one up for around £150k now, which is crazy money for a car that's 98% as quick as a P1. The problem is also, that the 675LT isn't a one off LT, there will be a "750LT" and in a few years an "800LT" until circa 2035 when ICE production dies.

    • @scd
      @scd  4 года назад +1

      True re 720S, but it’s so much more sterile than the 675 and yes other cars will wear the LT badge but they certainly won’t be limited run - whether or not that bothers people 🤷‍♂️

      765LT reveals at Geneva and customers cars 2021 but its going to be a lot more expensive and not as limited as the original 675LT which was ONLY 500/500 worlwide. McLaren really went overboard launching the LT sub brand hence why the 675LT is a stand out car. Sequels are rarely as good and the last thing a 675LT needs is more power in reality. I hope they concentrate on the FUN factor and not just the numbers with the 765LT

    Way too many 600LT's built hence the stupid finance deals to try and off load them. When will McLaren learn ! They got it spot on with the 675LT. Built an incredible car to launch the LT sub brand, throwing everything at it and over engineering the product versus the price point and selling out in 2 weeks.
    600LT's will depreciate further whilst the 675LT is only ever going to appreciate long term from the £200k mark. Grab a bargain while you can because they will totally disappear off the market soon with so few available in RHD in the UK

      @@cutdepiefails6596 Its not just about speed and numbers though, its about how it feels and excites and this is where the 720S loses out to the 675LT even if its quicker. These cars already have too much power and speed for public roads. 765LT gets revealed at Geneva but will be a further 12 months down the line for first coupe customers cars and 18 months for spider. Price will be even higher again. They are building 750 of each so a 50% increase in production numbers over 675LT and I venture it will be just too fast to excite and fully enjoy on the public roads given the standard 720S performance. Hope they focus on driver engagement, feel, excitement and fun but hard to see how they can improve over the already brilliant 675LT whih has got all this in spades. A truely one off stand out car and sequels are rarely as good IMHO

      @@scd ABSOLUTELY ! Even Damian from the Car guys said so and he is not a massive McLaren fan but owns a 675LT coupe that he probably paid a premium for at the time. Everyone I speak to that owns one along side a host of other supercars say its a stand out car and they will never sell it. If a 458 Speciale Aperta can command £600k then only £250k for a McLaren 675LT spider is indeed a real bargain especially when the LT is the better car in every dept bar sound IMHO. I get that Ferrari has the heritage and probably 5 x the following of McLaren brand at the moment but the gap is closing massively and at a pace as Mclaren establishes itself . Like I say it may take another 10 or indeed 20 years but the 675LT will be a future classic and as you rightly say we will look back and wonder why they are so cheap right now. The 650S and therefore 675LT were well sorted cars probably the best McLaren have made. Early models always seem to suffer electrical gremlins and build quality issue hence better off buying an end of production model. Early 12C, 570S and 720S all had niggles but further into production these get sorted. My advice never buy an early model and buy USED after 1st owner has suffered the major depreciation.
      Buy a used 675LT and you should be issue and depreciation free

I love all of them in their own way but the 675LT spider is my favorite of the lot! It’s pure magic! And for the record, the only problem I’ve had in three years of ownership is that the tonneau cover had to be adjusted. Same with my 720s, I got one hydraulic suspension sensor fault, which went away after a five minute drive and never came back. IMHO, Right now, Mclaren is head and shoulders above Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini in terms of Performance. Absolutely love the brand and I’m looking forward to the upcoming 765LT to replace my 720s. Cheers 🥂
