I love Reid Duke videos so much and hearing the evolution of his living arrangements in the audio from video to video is astounding. It feels like just yesterday I had to listen to the pots and pans getting scrubbed during an elves video and now, I only occasionally hear others having a good time. Glad to hear you've moved from the kitchen to the dining room
Yes! Thank you Reid! Pre-recorded content has been sorely missed, and is a big, big improvement on clips from streams. This is the kind of quality content that first got me hooked on channelfireball's output, and it's a much-needed breath of fresh air to see it again. You're a freaking legend.
Dude, I have been CRAVING a return to this format. The streams are great, but this? This is *chef kiss* So glad to have it back, even if it's not going to be a regular thing.
Match 1 is what defines the best players from the good players. Both games you could say he lost to deck variance yet he stayed calm, played to his outs and gave us the best show he could. Thanks Reid and congratulations on your HoF induction.
Great to see these kind of videos making a comeback, I find Jund matches (and midrange-ish mirrors in general) to be really interesting to watch and getting Reid’s thought process on the hundreds of decisions really takes this to the next level
very excited to see a return to form with the prerecorded content. they’re so much better for youtube viewing and i was missing them when they were gone. please keep these up!
Gratz on making the hall of fame reid cant think of anyone who is more of a shining example of a leader in the community. I am a proud student to your teachings and i cant wait for what the future holds.
I love your stream, but I’m very happy to see these pre-recorded videos making a comeback. I’ve very much missed these videos and can’t wait for more. Just feels a lot more educational to your lines of play than when it’s just an upload of an afternoon of streaming.
Super glad to see more Reid on Jund, and even more glad to see pre-recorded videos back! Never was a fan of twitch recordings, took a break from CFB ever since the number of pre-recorded vids went down drastically (still peeped the Reid Jund recordings though, how could I not)
Honestly, I've been pretty bummed out with a lot of stuff in my life lately. But watching Reid play my favorite deck in my favorite format and getting a well deserved induction really puts a smile on my face. You go man!
The first minute of this video is music to my ears. Please keep the channel's focus on pre-recorded, in depth strategy videos. The videos lifted directly from a stream are a poor substitute for this kind of content.
I'll watch Reid playing Modern BGx in any form, but seeing that he's back to making some pre-recorded videos is REALLY awesome. Always such cozy content :D
Archive Trap + Surgical extraction with 2 Tarmogoyfs in hand... then still winning with 1 card in deck after boarding in 66 cards... absolutely legendary
Just one thing, you could have had more chances at winning the last game against mill in the last game. If you had kept your 2 lands in hand at the last turns you had at around 1:31:40 you could have activated ravine next turn for 6 damage and emblem wren. As your opponent wins by milling you, you have to draw your card for them to win. If they had a mill spell, you could have played 2 bolts with retrace on your upkeep, giving them 1 less draw step. BTW, amazing video, and I'm glad you got the HoF, it was well deserved!
That second game in the first round was brutal. No green land, draw mostly green cards, get your one green land drawn (that enters tapped) destroyed. Brutal.
I'm actually big fan of fulimanator in jund vs grixis shadow. They tend to have a bit of ways to grind back but because it's death shadow then tend to run very few lands that actually produce mana enough to possibly take them off a color or at least restrict Snapcaster/kolligans or their ability to keep up mana on your turn
match 3 sideboarding: what's the logic behind taking out push, keeping bolt? I'd imagine push answers colonnades and the germ tokens better while still hitting everything bolt does too, except for plaenswalkers. I'd have liked to hear your thoughts on that at least.
Match 4 question (spoilers) in game 3, could you not have kept stomping grounds in hand, attack next turn for 6 (opp down to 5) and emblem wrenn and six, then double bolt in your own upkeep next turn before drawing? should give them one less turn to find an out (exactly their next draw step; if it's one turn later you'll be bolting them to 0 in upkeep even if they mill you out)
Reid, it didnt end up mattering because you won round 4 anyway, but I think you missed going for lethal. On turn 10 your opponent was at 16 life and you had stomping ground, fulm mage, mountain in hand. I believe you could have attack your opponent for 5 with the Revine down to 11. Kept the stomping ground in your hand, then next turn attacked down to 5, emblem'd W&6, then double retrace bolt?
@1:32:26 What am I missing here? Isn't the opp just dead to two Ravine attacks? Like, ignore your walkers, just attack with the man land, pass turn, then on next turn, draw to 1 card left in your library, then attack again. Or am I not seeing something?
Reid took the play vs GDS g2. That's gotta be a punt, no? Most people I have talked to on both sides of the matchup have said to take the draw if given the option
I'm not familiar with the matchup, but Jund *really* wants to disrupt the opponent's gameplan, and being on the play lets them do just that: t1 thoughtseize/inquisition their threats away, t3 slam liliana and get chipping away at their hand. also while GDS wants to get low, Jund has a bunch of burn in bolts, kcommands, and to a lesser extent, wrenn&six and sometimes BBE too so bashing with a t2 4/5 or bigger goyf isn't always bad. Reid did take out the bolts, but the threat forces GDS to stay kinda honest.
@@petzkuh Generally speaking, GDS turns into a grindfest, and most people I've talked to say it's a resource fight and they'd rather the extra cards than the value of going first for a discard spell, playing it similar to a Jund mirror, where you definitely take the draw.
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one drawing super shitty on MTGO. Reid's first match was a wreck due to shity draws. Happens to me all the damm time on mtgo.
I watched the two first matches so far, but it already seems like Bolt is not positioned very good right now. Why don't you play more Decays and Assassin's Trophies if there so much planeswlakers, tron things and other stuff?
So I have a question here. At 7:00 he doesn't play the liliana for fear of a bolt, but the turn prior he plays the goyf saying not to fear removal. What makes that play so different?
a goyf on board pressures the planeswalkers and demands an answer. a liliana on the other hand doesn't really threaten much (except edict if opp plays a creature before removing her) and additionally runs the risk of losing 4th land for BBE, as reid mentions
Round 1: 02:26
Round 2: 23:40
Round 3: 43:39
Round 4: 01:04:27
Round 5: 01:34:32
Post round 5: check hall of fame list and find out you made the cut 😁
Why don't you use Assassin's trophy on the jund? she is a great removal but what bad part of her do you think?
Thank you for making a video dedicated for this channel instead of uploading one of your twitch vods. This is much better for youtube content.
FeeldaFia he’s gonna do these regularly
'i missed the HOF announcement because i was recording a jund video'
Is this the video that Reid was recording that made him miss his HoF announcement? lol
Has to be. Said he was recording a jund video
@@sh1nypantsgaming661 that doesn't say that much though.
No, he was playing in a weekend modern challenge during the announcement.
congrats on hof!!!! cant believe it happened when you were recording this - so on brand
Reid streaming is great and all, but I've really missed these solo videos, where it's just Reid and his thoughts
and his kitchen

Reid: I’m back doing pre-recorded content for Channel Fireball.

Dude, I have been CRAVING a return to this format. The streams are great, but this? This is *chef kiss* So glad to have it back, even if it's not going to be a regular thing.
Reid with the subtle flex - showing his Power 9 collection up top at the beginning of the video.
A bigger flex would be the OG arts - VMA BL is only like $6, the rest are generally under $2. Even a OG art BL is 'only' $350.
That's like a $15 "flex"
Match 1 is what defines the best players from the good players. Both games you could say he lost to deck variance yet he stayed calm, played to his outs and gave us the best show he could. Thanks Reid and congratulations on your HoF induction.

Reid Playing Jund the best thing in the world.

Holy shit man, that last Mill match was insane. Way to stick it out till the end, i would have given up by then!
more Jund please, great stuff
YES! So happy to see the pre recorded videos from reid back! I love the streams but the pre recorded are just so great to me.
boarding over 60 against mill just blew my mind, have never thought to do that lol
i still thought we had the old rules, today i learned something GOOD.

Great video - staying calm after the 0-2
The surgical extraction for goyf made me groan :)
Congratulations on well deserved HoF induction, Reid! I'm so glad that at last it happened to my favourite MtG player :)

This video is exactly what I was looking for, thank you, Reid! And grats on the HOF!
I tried out the deck at my lgs tournament and went 5-0 with it. Thanks Reid!
