You're so right about location if you solely source from thrift stores or garage sales/flea markets. I'm Irish and I'm so jealous of some of the sources American resellers have 😂

I don’t know how people survive the stress of solely relying on reselling income. I sell full time, have for years, but my husband makes a lot more than me in his “real” job, carries our insurance, etc. My money we use for things like house repairs, vacations etc. When I have a bad day reselling, I don’t have to stress that I might not make enough money that day to cover my bills. Thanks for the video and the honest perspective

"15 minutes to the next goodwill"... I wish. There's one in my town and others are 80 miles away north or south.

More people will try to resell, yes. But most will give up after a short while once they realize the very real obstacles ahead. Reselling challenges you in more ways than people know and are prepared for. I appreciate these videos as I was thinking to start a similar channel a few months back after being inundated with content from outlier resellers.
Thanks for the great content and looking forward to more!

I live in the DC/Maryland area. I kill it here. Thrifts everywhere and rich people in Bethesda and Potomac. I’ve had an eBay account since 1999 and have always been a part time seller. I agree that doing full time would be rough it’s better as a side hustle.

My best friend is trying to get me to be a reseller and YES I do happen to live in Utah. I don’t seriously believe it is the best state to resell since I haven’t done it yet, but when I’m out in the neighborhood doing doordash, I definitely run into a lot of Garage/Yard sale signs around especially in the Spring and Summer months. Florida and Texas might be better since they’ve got warm weather year round.

Zac, how are your seller fees in the 20% range? I'm thinking you do free shipping and that your numbers aren't reflecting the cost of labels. I'd love to know how you can keep them that low because mine are 40% selling fees, which don't include my price of goods. I wish you would link your store so I can peak and see your strategy. I have subscribed. You are really good, btw! Sorry for all the questions, but I'm so lost.

I appreciate how transparent you are in this video! Do you ever source with estate sale buyouts or storage units? I’ve been a part time reseller for a few years now, trying it out to see if it’s a viable side hustle for when my husband retires. I can already see the ebbs and flows and fickleness of selling in one category. And while I say I am part time, I definitely put more than a few hours in a week and can see that full time would mean more than 40 plus weekend work in order to make the amount I would want. I also feel like the lush year or so around quarantine gave people a false impression of the ease and success of reselling. I can definitely now see that for my area it takes more than thrift shopping to be able to source enough if we want to be full time. Thanks for the video!

Estate sales are generally worst than thrift stores.

    Great video very well said.
    Two trends I see are:
eBay reseller on RUclips only give gross profit as income (vs. net profit) and
they don't count their sourcing time because it is fun (BS, it is time and opportunity cost at the very least)
My guess is that youtubers make a good income through their videos and get more sells in their store once they have the audience.
For us mere mortals, 4 things come into play and they often overlap.
    1) Fate (Family, Location, Connections, Health, etc.)
    2) God (He has a plan. Best to be part of it.)
    3) Randomness (luck/chance, good or bad)
    4) effort (time and money you put in)
Really #4 is the only one you can control to any degree. But #3 can turn you life around in a heartbeat.

Great content. I have a full time job. But we shop at walmart for groceries for towboats on the river. Im at the local walmart to me 7 days a week and have been for 10 years. My reselling account Is based almost solely off of retail arbitrage at walmart. I have incite on all the other stores around me based off it. We sell around 1000 dollars a day but margins are thinner based off of acquired price. We make around 5000 profit a month profit. But for any average joe trying to do it, would be hard. Its a whole lot of work to find a niche and be good at it. Sells prices definitely do not reflect true profit on any resellers end. Unless all they find is gold.

I live in Arizona and the city I live in I have 10 Goodwills in about a 5 mile radius around my house. I don’t shop anymore or very rarely for stuff resell. I do not sell clothes as of yet. I source my items from, eBay lots, yard sales, estate sales, and other thrift stores. There endless places to source. I keep buying, but I really need list more and stop buying.

“in an hour it’s gone” ha! Sell on eBay they said, it’ll be easy they said, list baseball hats… a year later I have a box of hats and have sold one, lol
Like the hat you’re wearing. Listed and sold are definitely two different things! 😁 I list whatever I find as long as it’s not a total dud and in good condition. But I have a full time job 😞 and it doesn’t look like I’m gonna leave it for eBay. My house looks like a storage unit, lol. I do like hearing the cha Ching sound from time to time though 🥳

How about I have 1 goodwill outlet in nyc and it’s like a zoo anywhere else I have to pay 10 bucks each way to cross a bridge plus gas and miles and the thrift stores are expensive they leave no room for profit, listing is one thing getting views and sales are another so different now than in 2008 when I started love the reality of this video thanks
