    Thrifting for me is like going to the casino. The only difference is that I am the "house" and I always win. Sometimes it is $20 dollars and sometimes it is 500 dollars. I want to give you credit for being honest and letting new people who watch your videos the truth. To do well reselling you need two traits which are common sense and enthusiasm. Almost 2 years into fulltime reselling and I now am able to contribute money to Roth IRA and index funds again for retirement. I watched many resellers in the beginning, but I now know better. Take bits and pieces from a bunch of people and make it work in the area you live in. There is no "one" way to do this.

      Good info on both sides. One of the thing I notice is it almost depends on the area you are in. I've been to a few different goodwill's in different areas, and its hit or miss. Both with picking up the items for low cost vs high.

    I honestly do not think any youtube reseller stages content, but I could be wrong. I know that many youtube resellers cut out the times they dont find things and focus on the times they do find things which could make it feel like they are constantly finding amazing items.I would say on my channel its pretty realistic with the finds, I leave the good and the bad in. Sometimes if you are just finding nothing for 20 minutes it can be boring though so you end up cutting that stuff out.

    Cleaning Cashmere: doing this for decades - turn inside out, put in small nylon washing sack/bag with drawstring closure (avoid sack/bag with zipper or metal parts). Wash gentle cycle with a baby/sensitive soap - I tend to do 3-4 cashmere sweaters (similar color) per load to balance drum Remove gently from bag. Layout on stack of towels and turn while drying for an even dry, Very similar process to a down sleeping bag. Stain - varies widely if you will be successful in removing the stain. Overtime, you will see a difference in low-quality (short fiber length) vs high-quality (long fiber) cashmere after it is washed.- high value for identifying brands to resell. I wear cashmere all winter and low-quality cashmere lasts me 2+ years where as high-quality lasts me decades.

    When I first started selling on Ebay, I only sold womens clothing..and even then, didn't really know what I was looking for. I brought EVERY clothing item into the dressing room and ran comps in secret LOL..fast foward 12 years and now I sell EVERTHING and ANYTHING. To me that's a huge reason why I do as well as I do. Anything is possible..So many resellers I see are limiting themselves to only a couple of niches and leaving great items behind. I want to learn as much as I can ..so Every thrift store visits potential is multiplied.

    Funny just found your channel today. left a detailed comment on the one you did 3 weeks ago…I thought great video, then watched your updates to that one recorded 2 weeks ago then this…the reseller world was good to you! Happy to see..…have to celebrate the good day! Even if not your intention…would be nice to see you get excited over the wins…that is what makes it exciting…think most people know doesn’t happen everyday! thank you for sharing 😊kim

    I feel like it just happens this way. I was going to my local bins for MONTHS consistently and not really finding anything so I decided I'd go one last time and it was my best haul ever that included an authentic Chanel top lol. Needless to say, I still go to the bins but haven't struck gold like that since.

    Interesting finds... and set up. You're moving a heck of a lot of stuff. Do you only resell on eBay? Do you use any third party listing or research tools (outside of eBay)?

  • @RibResells
    @RibResells Месяц назад +1

    I mean the point of content is for it to be entertaining too right? Im not advocating for false advertising or sugar coating things, but a lot of the resellers i watch are pretty transparent. I dont want to see what doesnt sell or their poopy haul, but the good stuff they get. That’s how i learned.
    When i make my videos now i include everything, but i do want to make videos about the big hauls i do get, which honestly is pretty often for me. As for the driving and time, it definitely takes a lot but having an efficient setup, listing routine, and not just sourcing from thrift stores changes everything.
    Find local suppliers or people on facebook where you can buy collections or a small pallet for a couple hundred $$$. Ive pretty much stopped going to thrift stores. The margins are great but the amount of time and gas it takes isn’t really worth it for me anymore.

  • @TheRozylass

    I'm curious why Goodwill is the only thrift store mentioned. Are there no Salvation Army stores, or private/church/hospital type thrift stores? I've found my best deals in the smaller shops which usually have better prices too. Goodwill seems to be over shopped and hyped. What do you think?

    I sell everything you can think of that makes me money so my chances are pretty good in thrift stores.Selling just clothes will be really tough and a waste of time IMO.When I see another reseller in clothes acting desperate I just laugh and go look at mugs,toys,HomeGoods, electronics,blankets you name it.

    • @Resellocity
      @Resellocity Месяц назад

      Same here. I live in an area with thousands of resellers, but there’s only a handful of us who are everything sellers, so the everything sellers always do better than the clothing sellers because they are competing with thousands of other people, and they are cut throat as hell.

    Thrift stores are not a consistent reliable sourcing opportunity. The same people are there everyday waiting for the door to open. During spring and summer I do not step foot into a thrift store. You’re better off hitting garage sales, rummage sales and estate sales. It’s a joke seeing these videos of finding thousands at a goodwill! GTFOH.
