We are so glad that we have been using Basic Store for several years now. There occasionally are some other perks that eBay does to help promote sellers. During eBay 25 Years promotion, I did get to change up my listings to feature me or a model wear the branded T-shirt in the listing.
I completely agree. It's in eBay best interest to push a bit more business to a store.

So glad I found your video. Your knowledge and "teaching style" are excellent! This was extremely helpful in making a decision to start a store. Been selling on eBay for a year & now have over 500 listings w/o volume sales like most other sellers with this volume of inventory. Realized that I'm paying $40 each month in listing fees. I'll be taking advantage of the Basic Store option which will eliminate the listing fees each month and allow me to run promotions and markdowns on the inventory that has been stagnant.

And, I was NOT a natural in front of the camera at all. Still, I've made progress. My goal is to eventually be able to create videos that are truly helpful.

This is a really interesting video. I can give you the Canadian perspective. I had the starter store level of 250 free insertion listings but they don't charge us for that. I started April of 2020 but that was just making the account and setting things up. I started listing in July. Don't be afraid to just set up an account first. I didn't have a store or anything until November, 2022. You will build up to 250 and if you want to list more, it really is better to just get the store for that reason only. That is what I did. I waited until I had about 10 positive feedback before I bought the basic subscription. The basic store offers 1000 free insertion listings for $22.50 cdn(taxes included) a month if you pay yearly. Other than listing I haven't really played with the other "perks" yet. Selling from Canada is wayyy different. Our shipping is a tiered by weight and size so it truly costs $25 cdn to send myself a parcel 🤪 Stuff just costs more up here too so we have to sell items that are worth the shipping cost. In the past two years I have sold about 50 items total, have about 350 listings to date but still adding every day. I sell mostly vintage items, breakables too. Don't assume that an item that doesn't sell right away isn't worth selling, some are what is called a long tail item.
So, I get my 1000 listings and I feel like I get more views for sure but not sure about sales. Time will tell. I think I will try running a sale and see what happens. Thanks for that tip. 😊

I am ready to jump in, however, this is a concern.
There are definitely people that do it alone and can make a living. But it's a ton of work. Melody and I work together, but we don't do 40 hours a week combined. Between taking care of her parents and RUclips, there just isn't enough time. RUclips definitely reduced my ebay income. We only grossed about 75k last year between eBay, Poshmark and Etsy. It's also important to note, that the business didn't start there. It takes time to get traction. I never recommend quitting your day job until you can't afford to go any more. Build ebay up first

How much money should I profit before getting a store?
It wasn't a certain number for us. If you want to run a sale and have around 400 listings at any given time, it's probably worth considering.

You can always reprint a label. If it still didn't print, you should be able to write down the tracking number and have it printed at the post office. I know they can print it if you take them the QR code.

Just found your channel. Can you please answer a question that I can NEVER get an answer for? I sell on eBay and hope to do it full time. I list a lot of books. I notice people selling books for example $3.49 with free shipping. How can they do that when it costs me MORE than $3.49 for shipping alone? Thank you for your help.
They are shipping via USPS Media Mail which is much cheaper than First Class. You can also use some bulk shipping methods where a tracking number is printed but not shipped until there's a pallet-full to get a cheaper rate. I wouldn't ever do that. That said, they aren't making hardly anything on that book. I wouldn't want to haul a cart full of books to the post office that I clear 15 cents each on. If possible, aim at a higher price point and make it worth your time. Did that answer the question?
@@TheChaChingKing I do use media mail, still over $3. Maybe they get a store discount, Plus I heard top sellers get discounts, but I'm not sure. They may also lie about the weight. 😁 Thank you for the answer.

I didn't have a store and I had access to Terapeak. I am wondering is there a time when the .30 cent after the final value fee ever stops?
Not without a store. The 250 listings you get free reset every month. BUT, as all the listings you already have up renew, they count towards that 250 listings.
@@TheChaChingKing I do have a store. I pay a percentage on the sale and .30 cents. I was wondering where I am saving to be honest. I pay $21.95 per month for the store, a percentage based on category and then .30 after the sale. I thought the .30 cent would go away. Also, do have videos for setting up the store and coupons, sales? Thanks so much.
I would love to see it from both sides. Consumer and you. Maybe you could make a video "buying" something fun yourself and show what it looks like when the order comes in all the way to shipping?

The only reason I have a store is so that I can close it when I’m out of town. Otherwise it’s no different than just doing my normal eBay.
You can do time away without a store now. But there are also cheaper stores now than there used to be.
When a buyer finds your item from a general search will the fact that it is on sale or markdown show up somehow in the offering price. Will the time that the sale ends also show up? If so having this type of ability to promote seems like a huge benefit to having a store - and one that no other discussion of this topic seems to include. So again, YOU ARE THE KING! Thanks.
Lol...thank you. Yes, you will see the sale price. And, if they make an offer for a listing that they clicked through a promoted listing, that shows up, too.
Hi; thank you for the video, what is the selling limits for eBay Store Basic? Like the eBay personal, the monthly selling limits is up to $1000 for all listed items. Wondering if eBay store basic got the same limitation?
You only have limits like that when you're just getting started. Paying for a store doesn't raise your limits. BUT, the limits will go up as you successfully complete sales. But, paying for a store won't raise your limits at all.

I am trying to start a store to sell my paintings. So I signed up for a starter store. But I am having trouble cause I can't put more than 2 ads. While I am supposed to be able to put a 100 I thought. The site gives me a message I can't make more than $149.00 a month. What the hell is that. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?
Is it a brand new account? If so, paying for a store doesn't increase your selling limits. Your limits will go up as you successfully complete sales. So, you're probably not doing anything wrong. You've probably reached the dollar amount you are allowed to list with a brand new account.

It’s the first day that I will make it to a store in months. My treatments are going well, so I’m feeling well enough to go out. I am only have about 270 items right now but I have a garage full of stuff I have not listed. It’ just so overwhelming and a lot of the stuff that I have is stuff I have to really research before listing so each item takes quite a while to get up. The best way to accomplish that would be to create a quantity discount. Buy one...1% off. Buy two...2% off. Buy 3...33% off.
I started selling on eBay and they say you get 250 free listings, but not all at once! So I got a basic store, again ran out of free listings so upgraded to a starter which meets my needs on how many items I can list.
The renewing listings every 30 days count towards your free listings. It sounds like you've been busy!

Hello, I just watched the video, but in the Netherlands the basic price is 19.95 euros. It is not that attractive as a beginner.
Interesting! I agree. If the smallest store is still almost 20 euros, that's pretty tough for a beginner. Hopefully, they will roll out some of the less expensive options for you, too.

I don't think it would have anything to do with your store subscription. It could be that you have more than 250 listing COMBINED with the ones that relisted after 30 days and the ones that have sold. All of those count towards your limit.
Do any reduce the selling fee of 13.25%??
There are marginal reductions in the seller fees. Just not enough to make much difference to me. I came to eBay after watching my inlaws run a business where their markup was only 15% or so. So, ebays percentage seems quite reasonable to me.

It can take anywhere from a few minutes to a whole day. It depends on what was listed and the category. I suppose it might also depend on what was listed. I know that when I list in the militaria categories, it takes longer.

Opening a store has no impact on how many items you can list a month. It only impacts how much it costs to list them. How much you can make REALLY depends on what you are listing, the cost of those items, the sell through rate, and how much you're willing to work.

No, the basic store would have the same 250. You're basically getting the other perks at that level.

Hi, how does ebay determine the percentage in regards to the final value fee?
All of that is determined up front. It varies based on the category that your item is listed in. I try to keep enough profit in my items that 1% one way or another doesn't have a big impact on me. For the most part, if I factor in about 13% in eBay fees, that about covers it. Does that help?

How does having a store work with listperfectly.
Honestly, it makes no difference at all. List Perfectly works with item numbers specifically. So whether or not you have a store has no impact on it.

I was able to build to 800 listings without any store or any additional fees. I opened a basic store 9 months ago and have not seen any benefit. I think I’ll go back to no store next year

I LOVE selling internationally through eBay's International Shipping. They handle ALL of the returns. So, you never get anything back. HUGE plus.

Also, would you need to be selling on eBay for x days before you can become an internationally seller? I don’t seemed to have an enrollment button/feature at my account level to turn this on. I think the most important tip I could give was to allow yourself the same grace to make mistakes that you would anyone else who was learning to do something new. You're going to make mistakes and there will be times that things don't go perfectly. That's OK. You learn from them and move forward. But what you shouldn't do is beat yourself up if you didn't do things perfectly.
Hi, I would like to get a basic store. I have a limit of 370 items I can list per month. I called eBay and asked them if I could increase my selling limits. They said it happens automatically every 90 days. So if I buy a basic store with 1000 listings how would I increase my selling limits? I have about 460 100% positive feedback. No negative feedback. No Neutral feedback.
I don't think buying a store would automatically increase your ability to list more.
And there's no way I'd wait 90 days. Send ebay for business a note of Facebook every 30 days and politely ask.

I was thinking of opening a 2nd store and only list tradings cards on there. I know it will take a while to build up. If I do open a 2nd store, should I use my same spreadsheet and business banking account that I’m using with my current store or should I do the 2nd store separately? Ive always been a little confused about the insertion fee. When does ebay actually charge you that fee? When you make the listing? Like I could be getting charged and not even notice it because it happening on relisted items?
Yes, when it is listed. You need to check the ebay fees. I may cover how to look at your fees and exactly what they are for in an upcoming video.

How do you figure out when u search up something you want to sell & how many items are actually listed & then u go to how many have sold so that you know if it’s a highly sold item by the numbers???Does that make sense??
When you do a search, it'll show you how many are listed. The, you sort by SOLD listings. It'll tell you how many. Quick question. I do not have a store but do have access to Terapeak, which for me is essential. If I subscribe to the 'Starter' store would that go away. I know that this video was recorded a year ago so some things may have changed but in the video you stated that you don't get Terapeak with the 'Starter' store. Just looking for clarification. No, as long as you have access to the Seller Hub, you will have access to Terapeak. The Terapeak "Sourcing Highlights" are only available to those with store subscription of the Basic or higher.

No, it's not an additional 250. While they have changed from time to time and you always need to double check, there are a few other perks for having a store, though.
You gain the ability to run sales. You are charged a lower final value fee on sales and shipping. You can organize your inventory into categories. And, occasionally, eBay gives out promotions to stores that non-stores would not get.

What is the best type store for low fees ?
I believe there is a$5 store that would give you many of the benefits without much cost. But you really need to decide what fits your business best.

Thanks so much for responding...What I meant was I purchased the basic plan and was under the impression that I would have up to 1000 free listings... but was charged .25 for listing an item. Right now, I still have under 250...clearly not close to the 1000.
Hmmm...I'm honestly not sure. Sometimes, when it comes to account specific questions, you need to ask eBay. I do agree that it isn't always obvious what they are charging you for. I wish it did when there was a charge.

If it's one of your free listings, you won't pay any final value fees until it sells.

The vast majority of the store features are available on the computer. Or, at least, easier for me to access.

No, it doesn't add more. You'd basically just be adding the ability to use some of the store's features

Thank you so much! I use DaVinci Resolve Studio. It is way more powerful than I am currently capof taking advantage of. That said, I try at least one new thing with every video. I want the editing process to make it easier for me to help people. I figure the more clear I can make the delivery, the better for whoever it is watching. So, you can't imagine how much I appreciate this comment. I'm not where I want to be, but you made me feel like I'm heading in the right direction.
I appreciate your videos….. I have found myself turning to them for many answers so you Sir are providing an important service as far as I am concerned. I started eBay as a fluke listing 2 high value items that sold over night making great money. The hook was set but now I am trying to get everything ironed out after selling 92 for a total of $6grand but it has been a wild ride for sure. Pretty steep learning curve to get this done without running looking like a dummy. This is were you and a few other RUclipsrs fill the gap!

I'm honestly not qualified enough to have a valuable opinion on the best way to set-up the business structure. I'm not being evasive, I'm just honestly unsure. I have an EIN in Texas and it has done what I needed it to do so far. Going forward, I plan on talking to someone more knowledgeable than I am to see what's the best course of action.
Pre-owned clothing and shoes do great for us on Poshmark in addition to eBay. If they are vintage, we also love Etsy. We use List Perfectly to crosspost between them.

The only reason I got a store today is because after two months on eBay I was losing money from insertion fees because the more items you have, the more renewals after one month counting as a listing, and I have a lot to list. Therefore, no matter what, as the months go by, all your listings will catch up with you and you have to continue to upgrade.
Absolutely. If you continue to list and grow your account, a store becomes a better deal.
I wish you had gone into what the cost advantages are to having a store. What's the difference in where items show up in search results for store items and regular listings? If I have a store, do non-store listing get the same discounted final value fees store items get. I've been trying to find this information on Ebay and all they tell you is what it costs fro different store levels.
I haven't found (or seen) any difference at all in whether or not having a store impacts the visibility of an item. I tried posting the same shirt on my teaching account, which doesn't have a store subscription, and my main account, which does. The listings had no other differences in them. The views were very similar. As I was more active in my main store, it eventually had more views. But, it sold on the account without a store.
As far as discounts, you do save a little more depending on which site you have. But, from my point of view, that didn't make much impact without a great deal of consistent volume.
Thanks for this info. I have a store and did my own research on the subject, this would have been useful and saved me time in looking into it. I wanted a store because of the item limits and fee savings. Have found the quarterly coupon nice benefit.

I had a store in 2022 but they kept taking more money then what i was making just be careful and pay close attention to monthly statements. And it does cost a lot of money to close the store.
I've never had a situation where they took more than what my store fees were supposed to be. But, yes, as a business owner you absolutely should watch the bottom line to make sure it's doing what you expected it to do. Surprises are almost never good.
