MODO BASS (the original) was one of the first VI I bought and it remains my favorite to this day. I will get MODO BASS 2, but I'm waiting on the annual "buy 1 get X free" deal they did the last couple of years (at the end of the year). Last year they even added the option to buy hardware and get X software free towards the end of the deal. (*edit* I know there is currently a similar deal, but it's not the same, as it is restricted to T-RackS processors)
I am not a guitar/bass-player so I didn't really understand the bit where you "forced" MODO BASS to play the notes on different strings. I wonder what the benefit is and how you do it exactly - so if you're planning to do a deep dive into MODO BASS one day, maybe consider explaining this in detail.
    Thanks for the review!

Late to the party but maybe it will still be useful to you or someone else: Playing the same note on different strings will give slightly different characteristics. Higher strings sound brighter than lower ones, and there's also a tonal difference between open-string and fretted notes (e.g. playing an A on the low E string's 5th fret will sound "thicker" than playing the same A on the open A string etc). It's just about tonal choices/preferences in the context of what you're going for, really.

How could I get the full logic course on reggae

  • @christhembones8244

Can this be applied to a pre-recorded track (like a dropping a favorite Ampire item) or is this simply you have to play the piano within a dedicated track with Modo Bass as the input instrument type? I've seen nothing showing how this can be utilized with someone playing a real actual bass through this.

@dancetech Great demo! Subscribed. So, can you customize after you’ve loaded a pattern? Meaning, “I really like this pattern, but I’d like to alter it a bit and change some note placement/rhythms to match my song?” If you can do that, do you do it in MODO Bass itself, or do you do it after you move it to your DAW. I use Logic Pro X. Thank you!

after you drag it to a track, then you can edit the notes

I kind of get the idea that you are playing exaclty the same bass and have the plugin bypassed or need to press something to load it
    from 5 min on

How do you get it the patterns to follow chords like EZ Bass's feature?

    • @dancetech
      @dancetech  2 года назад +1

It doesn't have any feature like that, just a load of patterns in various genres you can drag/drop into the DAW arrangement and then you could transpose them I suppose.

How does it compare to Ample Bass P?

    • @Ahobakachan

ABP is only a precision bass, very detailed and organic, but MODO is much more versatile.

@@DancehallWorldwxde Well Dancetech only really covers those parts as its a basic intro to different drum styles and riddims. He does touch on bubble organ and a bit of percussion but mostly its the basics

@@DancehallWorldwxde The organ and keyboards often follow or replace the guitar in the Reggae 'skank' sound anyway but there are many, many different tutorials on YT regarding reggae organ and keys playing. Try searching for Smallaxe Productions, Mr. Fingerz and DM Khan just to name a few.

Be very wary of this plugin as it's extremely flaky! I've been in contact with IK 'support' for nearly a year now, they know there is a problem but don't seem interested in fixing it. It started with ModoBass 1...I'd say worse in ModoBass 2

You never mentioned what the problem was

Sorry! Was short of time. I use Pro Tools. Even though I now have a new clean install Mac silicon, it's still flaky. Sometimes works, often doesn't. It'll hold one note until you play again as if it missed the MIDI off, sometimes stops completely and only a disable/ re-enable will restore, sometimes it just doesn't respond at all. I've just updated to PT 2024.3 which has new MIDI so maybe it'll be better🤔

Surely if you're going to review something you would do some research first, or is that an old fashioned idea... I don't know, to quote an often heaard phrase in this video...

the clue is in the title Tom... FIRST LOOK... this means it is the person looking at the product for the first time. 👍 you can see the in-depth modo bass review here ruclips.net/video/Ai6wDz6gkbM/видео.htmlsi=Kq4wGh4JmF29nzaC - the changes with this version 2 are as listed in THIS first-look video, nothing hugely different, otherwise it's the same as v1
