Brothers and sisters I humbly ask you all to pray for a couple dear friends of mine. 2 of them are having surgery and 2 others are struggling with addiction. Thank you and God bless you all!
Future Priest Patrick - Already put your four intentions plus you in the hands of Our loving Father and will place your intentions on the altar at mass tomorrow! The power of prayer is strong - "from much experience" - and hope surgeries go well and that the addicted will be embraced with love, strength and self esteem to get the courage to ask for help and endure rehab. Through Mary to Jesus we pray! They have a good friend in YOUR caring. Your vocation is on my heart too and be assured of the intention made to include you all the times each day prayers for our seminarians are offered.
Eric Reynolds - just prayed for you too. Maybe you could talk to your mom's Spiritual leader (pastor/minister)? Parish youth ministry programs are usually very good. Maybe mom has a sense about something which then should be addressed with director of program. May God guide you.
It is so beautiful to use physical fitness as a way to model how our spiritual lives should develop. In fact, combining both physical and spiritual fitness is such a blessing- whenever I go on runs in the day (physical fitness,) I talk to God, pray, and meditate on the beauty of nature (spiritual fitness.) God is so good!

As an athlete, I love this video! So much wisdom and beauty revealed in a 5 minute video. I enjoy combining both types of fitness into my everyday life- physical and spiritual fitness!! :) May we grow stronger as a body of Christ and as individuals, both physically and spiritually!!
As a guy who trains, I understand your message quite well :) and from now on I'll try to train in prayer harder. And maybe work out a little in between just to keep in touch with Jesus haha!
I was thinking about my lack of praying habits just this morning and then this shows up! I know you've posted this like 3 years ago, but thank you from the heart!!
I am seeking the heart of the father, not before, but because of you and my own church and the priests there, I am wanting to know what God needs me to do now.
Yes .. yes.. yes... I simply love love this. I was just speaking to a friend on this topic in prayer life. When we start to understand that our efforts " in training" as Fr. Mike says, is a thought process that we need to imprint in our daily lives. I love that distinction because it's so true. As I move through the days we can bring forth prayer through our activities. Giving strength to our workouts and giving more power to endurance and performance in our training. I think when we see it as a form of spiritual intent that deepens us mentally, physically and mostly spiritually. Then we give a sense of divinity, a divine process if you will, to our daily lives, where everything we do can be done so in a form of prayer. Very powerful truly... great video Fr. Mike. God Bless.
Love this Father Mike. Some nutrition & fitness experts refer to the "off" or "workout" days that you are referring to as "active recovery" days. You can do nothing or just "get moving" doing something you enjoy. The movement actually helps you recover faster from the "training" days.
I love this guy because what he says is fact. Even if you are a different religion you cannot argue against what he says. You might not agree with everything about the Catholic faith but I have yet to seen a video I could argue against.
Great video Father ! But as a personal trainer, I just wanted to clarify that a lot of people who work out have goals as well, and usually it's a combination of trying to improve the way they look while maintaining a minimum level of fitness or health. Others workout to battle medical conditions such as hypertension or diabetes. In my case,it's to keep my bipolar disorder in check so I can remain more functional and useful for my family and others around me. But your point of seeking the will of the Father in prayer really struck me to the core. I will certainly put more awareness and effort into doing so while praying. Thanks for the video !
I'm a former boxer and I still train every day. I meld it with my prayer/spiritual life. I tell myself I'm "Fighting the good Fight." I am really looking forward to seeing the film "Father Stu" when it is released.
Could you do a video on yoga and Catholicism? While the contraversy has died down a little it's still a bit of a contentious question in some places. It would be a helpful tool! Thank you!
Few minutes ago I was having a tantrum about my workout beats headphones being crushed and then this video popped up in my notifications (cus ur belled 😛) but man what I just needed. A realization of what was really important. (😭butimstillalilupsettbh I cant cry forever)
Father Mike, why has the video about deuterocanonical books of the Bible been taken off the channel? Was there an error and you need to reshoot? Are you just not going to release that again? I had watched it and it seemed good to me, I was going to share it on Facebook until I found out I couldn't anymore.
Sorry for the inconvenience, Dan! Yes, there was an error and so the video was pulled. We hope to have a revised one coming down the pipeline. Thanks for asking!
Father Mike, could you make a video addressing some of the comments Fr. James Martin makes. I think he's a little out there in some of his views on homosexuality and I believe that Catholics need some clarity on his position
This podcast is a PERFECT example of what happens with "the vernacular", which is what Martin Luther's goal was all along: Catholicity continues to be reduced to secular-humanistic analogies and tortured metaphors. We, my dear father, have absolutely NO IDEA what "goal" our Blessed Lord has for us. The word "goal" implies an END, and only He decides what an end even is.
Thanks Fr. Mike! this video came just in time, when I was thinking exactly about this topic; beside that I have a question: Actually I'm working out because I want to lose weight and be healthy, but now, when I'm working out and I see all the young people around me, so shredded and lean and still training or working out, my first thought is: I don't want to be like them, I just want ti lose weight and be fit, that's it, no more, then that's when I feel remorse if I should be doing more prayer than exercise. I've never done exercise before, more than walking and praying at the same time, but I feel that now although I try to balance both with my other activities, I still feel I'm not doing enough prayer and that's when I wonder if it's really worth the training or working out. Point aside, since I started exercising regularly for the purpose of losing weight, I've never physically felt better .... physically speaking, spiritually I have my doubts now ..
I would suggest you continue to exercise but add one simple thing to it: Prayer. I keep a workout journal and write down a prayer intention before every one of my workouts. Then, during my workout (a run, lifting weights, whatever) I continually call to mind the person I am praying for and offer up all the moments of discomfort and fatigue for them. I've found this to be very powerful and a great way to combine two great things that God wants us to do (prayer and exercise). God bless you!
"Ready, get set, goooo!" Ach, Father Mike, i keep on stumbling, sometimes i like to think i'm running the false race. I don't have to win the race, do i? I like the german saying: dabei sein ist alles!
Jesus said, "Amen I say to you, blessed are those who do not skip leg day for they shall inherit the gains!" #repsforJesus "Father forgive me for these gains I'm about to receive".
Father, thank you for these gains we are about to receive. Amen. Not "forgive me".. its sounds like your preparing God before you sin. And that's, like super sin.
#askfrmike I used to do yoga and now I hear all this negative stuff about its connection to Hinduism. I was never really connected to the spiritual side of it and I don't see how I could be going against God by exercising. Could you address this in one of your videos because I have heard many explanations but none have left me with the complete understanding that I often feel after watching ur explanations on stuff. btw, training to be with God is a great suggestion. I will be sharing. lol ;)
Hi father! I am taking with a friend and I am just very confused: is it okay for catholics practice yoga? I really don't want to welcome anything evil into my life, but I do feel like I can pray in a special way when I am practicing yoga. I talk to God and use some of the poses to even 'bow' down to God. Is this okay?
How do you sit in prayer and do this?? I feel like I really suck at prayer.. I sit in prayer and pray for family, friends, those who I"m thankful for.. I count my blessings and sometimes I ask for answers for things.. I dont feel like he ever talks to me..
#askfrmike hey fr. Mike I was invited for healing of family tree but I was wondering why it's done in a house not by a priest leading the prayers, now I read somewhere that this is not in any of the catechism of the Catholic church, and there was one article even went saying it's against the sacraments of baptism and reconciliation. Now I'm torn between going and not.
We never removed the book of enoch; it was never canon to begin with. Granted, some Eastern churches have it in their canon (like the Church of Ethiopia I believe). When we talk about the canon of scripture, it's important to remember that the canon was never actually closed. The Council of Trent simply reaffirmed the canon of 73 books. The Church said, "Yep. St. Christopher is still recognized as a saint, though his feast day no longer appears on the Church’s universal liturgical calendar. He was one of the early martyrs about whom not much is known. His name means "Christ-bearer," which reflects the story told of him that he carried the child Jesus across a river. Because so little is known of Christopher, he may have been known only by his story and people gave him a name that reflected the story. Canonizations arose centuries after Christopher’s time. Many of the early saints, including Christopher, were never formally canonized but were acclaimed as saints by Christian communities. In recent decades the Church has removed the feast days of obscure saints from the universal liturgical calendar, but the saints still remain saints, and their feast days may still be observed by parishes bearing their name and by those with a continuing devotion to the saint. (Hope this helps! I "borrowed" this from catholic website. It is definitely annoying for a parent who just named their son Christopher just prior to this change.)

In the book of Mathew it says not to call anyone on earth Father as that title belongs to Our father in heaven, how come Catholics think that it is right to call a priest, who is a servant of God, Father
oh for crying out loud -- what do you call your father? Why haven't you removed the word from the dictionary? Or changed the definition from "a man in relation of his child or children" to "God alone"? And why do you think the Bible contradicts itself? 2 Timothy 1.2; Titus 1.4 would contradict the verse you cite from Matthew *if* there were contradictions in Scripture. But since there aren't, then you must look for another explanation. This one is really not that hard or complicated. Basically, Jesus taught that God has all power, and all credit goes to God for everything -- none of it belongs to any of us: Not to our teachers or fathers, but only to God. Anyone who is on an ego trip is neither a teacher nor a father. Yet in the early Christian communities, it was common to call spiritual leaders "Father" (1 Cor. 4.15; 1 Jn. 2.12; Acts 7.2; 22.1). If we deny that our lives in Christ begin at baptism, then it's easy to dismiss the practice of recognizing our spiritual fathers by the title, "Father." It's easy to play "Ah ha! Gotcha!" with this verse from Mathew if we deny the Apostolic Succession (wherein Christ commissioned the first priests through the laying on of hands, imparting to them His Authority to consecrate succeeding generations of priests through Holy Orders)....but it still means claiming inconsistencies in Scripture.
Exactly. Also, in the original Greek, there is a definite article, so Matt 23:9 should read, call no one on Earth, THE Father. See also Luke 14:11, to which the Church teaches Matt 23:9 points.

Do you become LESS likely to talk "to" Christ??
You talk TO God?
Then, you pray?
Then you worship nature?
Try pantheism. It'll suit you.
